It was 4:00 AM. The ground was covered in a fog that felt like it was choking me. This fog was so thick that even a strong flashlight could not shine through it. Colonel Vikram told my team to go on patrol in the dangerous part of the border, which is called The Silent Valley. In the past no hunter with a rank than B-Rank has ever come back alive from The Silent Valley, in Sector 7.
The other students were all huddled together their teeth were chattering fast. "We are going to die this is a death sentence" Ryan whispered, his voice was cracking.. I was not listening to Ryan. My Tactical Eye was flashing red. Something massive was moving through the mist. My Tactical Eye was still flashing red. I knew something massive was out there, in the mist.
The Emergence of Terror
The ground started shaking hard all of a sudden. It was a rumble that felt like it was coming from deep inside the earth. Thump. Thump. Thump. It happened fast. In a few seconds these huge Earth Crushers came out of the ground. There were ten of them. They were all, around us. These Earth Crushers were really big and powerful they were Peak A-Rank. They had rocky skin and their eyes were glowing with a scary yellow light.. What was coming behind them was even more terrifying. The Earth Crushers were bad enough. What was trailing behind these Earth Crushers was the real nightmare.
This thing was huge standing fifteen feet tall. It was called a Beast and it was really powerful a Half-Step S-Rank. The Obsidian Beast stepped into the light. The Obsidian Beast had a body covered in black glass like the kind that comes from volcanoes. When the Obsidian Beast breathed, the air, around it got so hot that it burned the grass under its feet.
The Sergeant yelled "A Half-Step S-Rank?! Run away! Fall back!". Then this huge beast let out a loud roar. The roar was so strong that it made the ground shake and sent the soldiers flying backward. They fell like dolls unable to control themselves. The beast was really powerful. The soldiers were scared of the Half-Step S-Rank beast.
Eyes from the Heavens
Hundreds of feet above hidden in the storm clouds the three SSS-Rank Hunters were watching the Mana signatures below. They were really focused on what the Mana signatures were doing. The three SSS-Rank Hunters were trying to learn more, about the Mana signatures.
Look at that one of them whispered his eyes are really gleaming with interest. The other people are running away fast as they can they are totally scared but that C-Rank boy is not moving he is just standing there. Is the C-Rank boy trying to hurt himself. Is the C-Rank boy just really full of himself?
Back, at the watchtower Colonel Vikram watched the feed. He was sweating really badly. He had a lot of sweat on his forehead. Colonel Vikram thought about this for a moment. Jin-woo only woke up two months ago. Colonel Vikram said to himself: Jin-woo what are you doing? What is Jin-woo trying to do?
Combat: Jin-woo vs. The Obsidian Beast
I pulled out my blade, Void God Atharv. This thing was still sealed up tight. I could feel its edge vibrating with a hunger that you just do not find in any normal sword. Void God Atharv was special. I knew that.
The beast swung a paw with black claws at me. I used Void Step. My body turned into a mist for a moment. This let the claw go through me. I went under the beast. Hit its leg with a Void Slash. The beast was really big. I had to be fast. I used Void Step to get out of the way. Then I used Void Slash to attack the beast.
SPARK!
The beasts hide was really hard. My blade bounced right off. "This thing is tougher than I thought " I said to myself. The beast turned around. Its tail with big spikes, on it came flying towards me. I used the part of my blade to block it but the beast was so strong that it knocked me off my feet and I slid all the way back twenty feet.
You need to be careful because the host is getting tired. It is an idea to use special skills in a smart way.
I took a breath and focused on getting my breathing steady. Then I put my Mana into the center of the blade. This made the power of the blade work. It is called Gods Cut. Soon as I did this my Mana started to go away really fast. A purple glow surrounded the metal of the blade. The Gods Cut was using up a lot of my Mana.
The beast came at me again. This time I did not back away. I jumped right at the beasts mouth. As I was, in the air I used my skill. It is called 'Multiple Shadow Strike.' I made ten versions of myself. They all attacked the beast from sides. The beast was confused. It swung its body around trying to hit the fake versions of me. The beast swung wildly at my shadows.
That was the beginning. I put all of my power into the sword. Hit the middle of its chest with Gods Cut. I used every bit of strength I had in me to make the blow as strong as possible, with Gods Cut. The sword felt heavy in my hand as I swung it with Gods Cut.
SHINK!
The animals skin was really tough. It was cut through easily now. It was like cutting through paper. The beast let out an painful cry that echoed through the valley. Black blood shot everywhere like water coming out of a hole, in the ground. When the big animal fell to the ground the other ten strong monsters started to run because they were scared. But I did not let them get away the A-Rank monsters were not going to escape that the A-Rank monsters were going to have to face me.
In the five minutes I moved really fast so fast that I was just a blur. I was, like a line moving around. During this time I cut off the heads of all ten Earth Crushers. The Earth Crushers were destroyed by me in a few minutes. I finished them off one by one. Soon all ten Earth Crushers were gone.
The System's Reward and the Sovereign Encounter
When the last monster finally stopped breathing my system interface lit up the space:

I took a look, at what you have done. You have managed to defeat 10 Peak A-Rank monsters by yourself. That is really something. You have also beaten 1 Half-Step S-Rank monster, which's a big deal. I think it is worth taking a moment to think about what you have accomplished with these monsters the Peak A-Rank and the Half-Step S-Rank monster. Defeating 10 Peak A-Rank monsters and 1 Half-Step S-Rank monster is not easy. The Peak A-Rank monsters and the Half-Step S-Rank monster are tough.

I just got a lot of experience points. This means I leveled up. I did not just level up once I leveled up two times. No I actually leveled up three times. This is great news, for me and my experience points. I am very happy that I got to level up three times with all these experience points.

I was sitting there trying to get the blood off my blade when suddenly three big flashes of lightning hit the ground in front of me. It was so loud it sounded like an explosion. BOOM!
The dust. Then I saw them. The three most powerful SSS-Rank Hunters, in the world. They were standing in front of me. These SSS-Rank Hunters had a strong presence. It was so strong that it felt like the ground was sinking.
Colonel Vikram showed up at the scene. He was panting.. As soon as he felt the overwhelming aura of these SSS-Rank Hunters he just stopped moving.
This hunter, a man with eyes that were like gold came forward. His eyes were really scary because they felt like they could see through me. He said "That is enough. Stop playing games boy. Stop using the skill that hides your level. It is not possible for a hunter, with a C-Rank to kill a Half-Step S-Rank hunter easily. Who are you really the hunter?. Where did you get that sword, the hunter?
I stood my ground, my grip tightening on the hilt of the Void God. The real battle had finally begun.
