Chapter 15 - How To Lose Your Wolf

Alpha Kade's POV

My blood was literally boiling with rage and it was taking every ounce of my being preventing me from loosing my head.

I was used to the elders, and their backward thinking once in a while.

Given the knowledge that they had, I always excused some of their behaviour.

But this, it wasn't something that I could ignore.

I had tried so hard to ignore what was happening halfway across the event while Ronan and I talked about Thalia.

I could only last so long.

As he was busy telling me that it was not over and how he was never going to rest, as long as I had Thalia, something came over me.

It was an overwhelming feeling that even my wolf couldn't ignore.

And the more time flew, the stronger it got.

When I finally gave in, I left Alpha Ronan by himself and started walking.

At first, I didn't know where I was headed, as it seemed like I was fueled by pure instinct.

However, in a matter of seconds, I was standing behind Thalia, who was next to Cassian and in front of the elders.

At first, I was confused as to why I had walked right into that set up.

But, as I stood there and demanded for an answer, I realized that something was off.

And seeing Thalia's bruised wrist didn't make it any better for anyone.

In that moment, an emotion that I can't describe till now, overcame me.

The rage that was stirring inside me boiled up and the sparks lit a fire so bright that even a rocket taking off can't compare to.

"You have crossed a line!" I thundered to the elder that thought she had the right to speak to my Luna like that.

If anything, I was the only one that could do that.

Nobody else.

Not even Cassian himself

"Alpha Kade...." One of the other elders called out to me.

Using a soothing and relaxed tone, I guess he was trying to get me to calm down.

I shot him a glare, and he had to take a step back and compose himself.

I waited for him to speak up, because deep down I was hoping that he was going to push my buttons even more.

When he finally opened his mouth to talk again, he moved a step closer and stood next to me.

"There's no need to do this here.....not in front of all these people."

I thought through what he had just said. And as I leaned back and looked at his face, I couldn't help but raise my brow at him.

"You're the ones that decided to do it here. Has the pill suddenly become to bitter to swallow?" I questioned him.

Looking at the others, I realized what they were trying to avoid. And it's pretty stupid once you think about it deeply.

They were comfortable harassing Thalia in front of everyone, as long as they had the upper hand.

But now that I had been included in the picture, it wasn't that enticing anymore.

"What a joke." I scoffed.

I looked down at Thalia, who had gone silent despite the fact that I could feel that she wanted to shout some more.

That wasn't her place.

I wanted her out of there, whether she liked it or not.

Raising my head, I scanned the crowd and made eye contact with one of the Pack house's maids.

She was one of the higher ups if I'm not wrong.

"Maria, get over here." I called for her.

She quickly shuffled her feet and was immediately standing right next to us.

"I don't think she's called Maria." Cassian told me.

"I couldn't give a fuck what her name is. If I want it to be Maria, then it'll be Maria." I commented, as I turned my head to look at her and whether she had any objection to that.

"I am whatever you want me to be Alpha Kade." She said as she bowed in front of me, awaiting my orders.

'Smart girl.' my wolf mumbled as we watched her.

"Get her the care that she needs." I instructed her as I was talking about Thalia.

When she noticed that I was talking about her, Thalia turned her neck around and I could tell that she had something to say.

Before she could even open that mouth of hers, I added more instructions.

"She can spend the night in my chambers.....and if she causes a ruckus, take her to the dungeons."

My voice was low enough for the elders, Cassian, the maid and Thalia to hear.

And when she heard the rest of the instructions, her eyes widened with fear and shock.

That was enough to have her rethinking whatever was about to come out of her mouth. And she was smart not to say anything.

With that, the maid guided her as she said, "Let's go this way and have that checked out."

Thalia wisely followed her without any protest.

With a nod of my head, two guards that were standing watch nearby accompanied them from a distance.

'Make sure no one bothers them.' I instructed them through the mind link as they walked away.

And now that she was gone, I was left with the Elders, Cassian, and a nosey crowd that wanted to see something happen.

I turned to Cassian and ordered him, "Give them something to focus on."

I knew that he was quick and would have something up his sleeve, but I still wanted to see what he could come up with that fast.

So, as I stood there, still eyeing the elders down, I waited.

With at least half of the people in attendance staring in my direction, the sound of the microphone being turned on was one way of getting the people to look elsewhere.

Then suddenly, Cassian's voice beamed through the speakers around the place and he started to address them.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Alphas and noble men of the lands that stretch out beyond the horizon.

The Luna trials has been a great success and because of this I would like to announce something important.

By the order of Alpha Kade Prime, ruler of the Obsidian Howl Pack, I, Cassian Hale, Beta of the Obsidian Howl Pack, announce a one month peace standoff between The Obsidian Howl Pack, and any pack that has any skirmish with us.

There will be no bloodshed during this period, and it's because of each and everyone's participation and ensuring that the event ends with Alpha Kade final getting his Luna."

That was rather unexpected, but effective since almost immediately, everyone that was in attendance celebrated.

In a matter of seconds, the stares that the people were giving me and the elders had been diverted.

The people were so engrossed with celebrating that they forgot what was happening.

However, I didn't.

That was the distraction that I needed from Cassian so I could talk to the Elders.

Turning my head back to them, I asked, "Where were we?"

Focusing on the one that had bruised Thalia, I followed up my question with another,

"Serenya, do you mind explaining why my Luna has a bruised wrist?"

She didn't look flustered like before. Clearly she had had time to calm herself down and compose herself.

However, I could tell that she was still mad. And that was something that still didn't make sense to me.

"Alpha Kade, your Luna is wolfless." She finally answered me after a long and deafening silence.

"Tell me something new." I immediately said to her, dismissing her words immediately.

It wasn't a surprise or a secret.

Serenya's eyes squinted at me, the same way mine would squint if I was trying to get a message across to someone and they were not getting it.

"That's not it, Alpha Kade." Thorne said to me, trying to help Serenya out.

I shifted my gaze towards him and said, "Well then, tell me what is."

I was already getting tired of the interaction, and wondering what happens next.

They weren't just any pack member that I could have thrown in the dungeons.

'But they injured your Luna! OUR MATE!' my wolf thundered inside me, making me let out a gutteral growl involuntarily and so deep that even the elders took a step back.

'What the hell!' I exclaimed, wondering where that had come from.

My wolf had never been that angry, and neither had he been able to do that.

"We all knew that Thalia didn't have a wolf, but I'm sure we all thought that she never got hers.

But she did, and it stayed with her for a while." Serenya said to me, making me turn my attention back to her.

I didn't say a thing, but I leaned in close, so much that my face was inches away from hers.

"I might have gone overboard by bruising Thalia." She mumbled.

"Might have?" I asked her, with my face close to hers and my anger starting to rise.

"Yes Alpha Kade. But you would do the same if you found out that we don't lose our wolves the same way you'd lose your keys.

It's near next to impossible for that to happen.... unless....." She went on, completely ignorant of what she had done to Thalia.

However, seeing the looks on the faces of the other elders as Serenya was thinking of the ways that werewolf can lose its wolf, made me want to hear what she was thinking about.

"Unless the Moon Goddess stripped them off their wolf." She finally said.

"Or someone used the darkest of black magic." Elder Eldric commented, making all of us turn towards him.
