Jay-jay's POV
The seat beside me was empty... Yuri hadn't come to school. He hadn't come home either. Was he planning something? I glanced at the other side. The king was texting someone on his phone. Did he know something? Was he hiding something from me too?
"Keifer."
He was so invested in his phone that he didn't even hear me.
"Keifer!!"
Still nothing.
"Hoy Kwanan!!"
This time he looked up from his phone.
"Huh?? Did you say anything Jay?" He asked me while staring at me clueless.
Oh I was calling you brainless!! Did you even lose your hearing power in my love. Huh! I know I'm beautiful.
"Haven't you heard from Yuri yet?"
"No. Why are you asking?"
"Because your face looks like a liar's face!" I snapped at him.
He cupped my cheeks with his hands."Jay....relax...okay? I'm not hiding anything from you.... and even if I do it is for your own good." He whispered in a soft voice.
"So you are hiding something from me?"
Before Keifer could say anything his phone buzzed. He glanced at his phone and suddenly his face went pale. Being curious, I peeked in and saw what made him stiff.
It was a text from an unknown number that said,
"Meet me where I tell you to come or else you won't be able to save your so called best friend."
"And remember, don't bring anyone with you."
Best friend?? Yuri??
When I realised what those words meant Keifer was already on his feet.
"Jay, go home." He comanded me.
I didn't listen to him I started following him. He stopped walking and turned to me.
"Jay....be obedient when I'm telling you to do something....GO. HOME." His voice was dangerous but I was used to it. I have seen worse.
"I don't want to. Take me with you." I said. My backbone straight. My head high.
He let out a heavy sigh.
" I'm not going to an amusement park. I'm going somewhere where you're not allowed. Actually no one is allowed except me!"
"But what if something happens to you?? I will be worried and I won't even be able to sleep without knowing if they did something to you." I said. My voice was already sounding small.
Did I say it out loud? Shit Jay!!
"Nothing will happen to me Jay...I won't die without showing your 'Barakuda' video to Caretaker and Watcher."
This man. He even had the courage to joke in this situation.
I slapped his chest. "Stop joking Keifer... I'm serious. What if it's Yuri's plan to trap you?I.....I saw something..."
I hesitated before saying it. Because it might sound like I was accusing Yuri. But I had enough reason to accuse him. So I told Keifer what I saw.
"Yuri had...he had a few photographs...and he had yours too..there were something written in Japanese...I didn't understand so I took it to ma'am Cindy and....she said it was a hit list."
"I know." Keifer said calmly.
I looked up at him. "You do?"
"Only the parts you know. Not the reasons behind it."
"So you were pretending not to know anything all these days and you didn't even tell me."
"I can't accuse Yuri without any proper evidence Jay... Also Yuri does lots of things even I don't know about. That's why I didn't tell you anything. You were already going though a lot."
He had logic.
"Did Sato realy commit suicide or...? Because I saw his picture too. With a red circle...I'm worried about you Keifer...what if you're the next target?"
He pulled me in his chest. His voice was softer as he stroked my hair and spoke."Jay, listen to me... nothings going to happen okay? If I don't go I won't get the answers and I don't even know if they would hurt Yuri or it was just to trap me. So I have to face them to know whoever they are and what their intentions are."
"Then take me with you." I said whining like a child being refused for their favourite toy.
"You know I can't Jay. I can lose everything I have but not you."
He paused and then kissed my lips. I didn't protest this time because I needed that two. I didn't even realise when my tears started sliding down my face.
He wiped my tears and said,"If I survive today I will take you to date tomorrow okay?"
"Don't say that." I pouted.
"Why?"
"You said it before but it didn't happen."
Because everything changed after that. You broke my heart. You gave up to your jealousy.
"You should only say it when it comes true."
"Deal,my wifey." He teased me again.
I didn't smile. I couldn't smile.
"I'm leaving... I'll see you tomorrow..be safe."
"I should be the one telling you that."
"I love you Jay."
"I won't say it back."
"Fair enough."
He kissed me for the last time and left. I didn't know what was he walking into. What was going to happen. But for the first time I was trusting him enough not to meddle. Be safe Keifer. For your siblings,for our friends and for me.
