There were some things Nathan Lockwood wouldn't necessarily say to Aaron Xavier and Chase Shaw, but that he was willing to tell Miles Sherman.
"Mr. Jacobs also asked about our plans," he said.
Miles Sherman quietly raised his eyes to look at him.
Nathan Lockwood continued, "Do you think Zoe Pierce will regret it one day?"
With a human-shaped isolator like Miles Sherman here, no one besides Zoe Pierce would be able to hear them.
But generally speaking, Zoe Pierce wouldn't listen in when they were around.
"She's not as crazy as we are." Even Nathan Lockwood couldn't say for sure if he fully trusted Zoe Pierce's heart.
He couldn't be sure she would be like them, her heart set steadfastly on them.
After all, hearts are fickle.
The only heart one can truly control is one's own.
"What if she regrets it later?" Nathan Lockwood asked with a wry smile.
