Not long after lunch, there was a knock on the courtyard gate. The old lady shouted from inside the house, "Fourthie, go get the door."
Yuan Si was stuffed full and didn't want to move. She nudged Xiao Furen beside her with her foot and ordered, "Go on. Didn't you hear the old lady shouting? Hurry up and get the door."
Xiao Furen resignedly let go of his wife, got off the kang, and put on his shoes. "The old lady was calling for you to get the door, and you're pushing it off on me again."
"Hmph, I don't want to see those people. If I say something unpleasant, I'll be the one who gets scolded in the end." As Yuan Si spoke, she buried her head in the quilt like an ostrich.
