Xiao Furen rode his bicycle back to their new home in X City with Yuan Si.
Her mother was already waiting at the door. Seeing the daughter she hadn't seen in half a year, she excitedly grabbed her and pulled her inside. "You rotten girl, you go off to study and it's like you've vanished. Was writing a letter too tiring for you? Only writing home once every ten days or half a month. So much for your conscience. And you talk about taking care of me in my old age. Hmph, with an attitude like that, how can I count on you?"
Yuan Si was helplessly pulled inside by her mother. She hadn't even gotten a good look at the front door before she was hauled into the house and subjected to this barrage of complaints. 'Who could she possibly complain to?'
"Aunty, this must be your daughter, right? She's so pretty, just like you," a woman standing in the courtyard said with a cheerful smile.
