Rhea Dempsey was just as endearingly awkward.
She sat beside Phoebe Sawyer, wringing her hands, wanting to say something but not knowing what.
"Mom," Renee Jennings reminded her softly, "why don't you get Phoebe a glass of water?"
"Oh, right." Rhea Dempsey snapped out of it, lightly slapping her forehead. "Silly me."
She looked at Phoebe Sawyer, a kind smile on her face. "Phoebe, what would you like to drink? Milk, juice, or coffee?"
Phoebe Sawyer: "Please don't trouble yourself, Aunt Rae. Plain water is fine."
"Alright." Rhea Dempsey poured her a glass of water and sat down beside her again, looking reserved. She hesitated for a moment before asking, "Did your trip to Jaelara go smoothly?"
Phoebe Sawyer nodded. "It went very well. My mom is staying in Jaelara for a few days."
Rhea Dempsey also smiled and nodded. "That's good, that's good."
