Midway through the meal, Phoebe Sawyer asked Renee Jennings to go to the restroom with her.
In reality, she wanted to leave Wendy Lowe and Andrea Hayes some space to be alone.
Outside the private room, Renee Jennings tilted her head to look at Phoebe Sawyer, her voice tinged with a smile. "Phoebe, how are you feeling?"
"Pretty good, actually." Phoebe Sawyer's eyes curved in a slight smile. "How should I put it? I'm a lot more comfortable than I thought I'd be."
She had been nervous before the meeting, worried that seeing her mommy with Andrea Hayes would make her feel jealous, envious, and upset.
But when she actually faced that scene, she felt surprisingly calm and at peace.
Renee Jennings's lips curved slightly. "That's good."
