For one terrible moment, all Ethan could see was the fading crimson light.
Then a dark green aura flared within the dust cloud, and a massive silhouette remained standing at its centre.
Mark staggered backwards, his feet scraping across the broken ground. His gremlin-like armour had been scorched, and several of his tendrils hung limply from his arms, but his body remained intact.
He raised his head.
"That wasn't very nice."
Ethan released a breath he hadn't realised he'd been holding.
'Thank fuck.'
The dark green aura surrounding Mark grew stronger, spreading across his body like a living flame. The lingering power of the Giant Gremlin coursed through his veins, reinforcing his already monstrous physique.
Whatever the demon had expected, it clearly hadn't anticipated Mark surviving the attack so easily.
Its eyes narrowed.
Mark spat a mouthful of blood onto the ground and straightened.
"Sorry," he said, his voice rough. "You're going to have to hit harder than that."
