Ethan burst forward.
The wind roared around him as he crossed the distance in an instant, his right arm drawing back. Talon's power gathered around his fist, the air compressing against his knuckles.
He aimed for the demon's ribs.
At the last moment, the demon vanished.
Blink!
Ethan's fist cut through empty air.
'Shit...'
The demon reappeared behind him, a crimson flash erupting from its palm.
Ethan twisted violently, instinctively using the wind to throw his body sideways. The beam grazed his shoulder, tearing through the reinforced fabric and leaving a searing line of pain across his skin.
He landed hard, rolled, and sprang back to his feet.
'That was close!'
He barely had time to recover before the demon appeared in front of him.
Its knee slammed into his stomach.
The impact drove the air from his lungs.
