Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: New life..

Smoke still rose behind us as we walked through the ruined forest. No more fighting. No more pursuit. Just the quiet aftermath of something that had finally broken in our favor.

Dreadbringer trailed a few paces behind, his massive form dimmer than usual as he conserved energy. The wounds from Manda were already knitting shut. Miku walked close at my side, one hand resting lightly against my arm, the other curved protectively over her belly.

I exhaled, letting some of the tension finally leave my shoulders. "We pushed hard."

She glanced up at me, eyes softer than they'd been in days. "We won. That's what matters."

A faint glow flickered across my vision.

[SYSTEM SYNCHRONIZING…]

I slowed. "Let's see what we got."

The results scrolled past:

[Summon Contribution: Dreadbringer]

Manda Engagement : Dominance Achieved

I stopped walking. "…What?"

Miku blinked. "What is it?"

A quiet laugh escaped me. "We just crossed five thousand… again."

[CURRENT POINTS: 9,320]

Dreadbringer rumbled behind us. "…Good numbers?"

I smirked. "Very good."

More notifications followed, Dragon Furnace stability climbing, Void Step efficiency rising, illusion mastery and resistance sharpening, mana control advancing into a higher tier. We were evolving faster than ever.

I looked at Miku. "We're getting stronger a lot quicker now."

She smiled faintly, leaning her shoulder against mine. "Because we fight together."

Elsewhere

Konoha

In a cold, dim chamber, Danzō stood motionless as a Root operative knelt before him.

"Operation failed. All units lost. Orochimaru withdrew."

Danzō's visible eye narrowed. "…As expected."

The doors slid open. Light spilled in, followed by Hiruzen Sarutobi.

"Danzō!! ."

"You've come to criticize."

Hiruzen stepped forward, voice calm but firm. "You've lost multiple elite units against one target."

Silence stretched. Then Danzō answered quietly, "He is not one target."

Hiruzen nodded. "Exactly. You're wasting resources. Next time… we act together."

Danzō's eye narrowed further. "You intend to intervene personally?"

"If necessary."

Across the shinobi world, reports spread faster than fire. Records updated. Classifications changed.

I was no longer a rumor.

I was a recognized force of war.

Back at the Treehouse

The forest had already begun healing under Miku's quiet influence. The treehouse stood untouched above us, warm and waiting.

I sat on a natural platform of woven wood. Miku settled beside me, close enough that our sides touched. Dreadbringer coiled nearby, massive head resting on the ground as he kept watch.

I leaned back. "S-rank, huh."

Miku smiled. "Took them long enough to make their minds ."

Dreadbringer rumbled. "…Means strong."

"Means they'll send stronger people," I answered.

Then Miku's hand suddenly tightened on my arm. Her breath hitched.

"Kyro.. "

I turned instantly. "What?"

The air shifted, not violently, but deeply, like something ancient had just stirred.

Miku's body tensed. Her wings flared, then froze. Her eyes widened.

"…Something's wrong."

My gaze dropped. Her stomach was glowing, soft at first, then brighter, pulsing with light that didn't feel entirely hers.

The forest reacted at once. Leaves lifted. Branches bent inward. Thick, dense mana flooded the clearing.

Dreadbringer's head snapped up. "…This… energy…"

Miku gripped my arm harder, voice strained. "I used too much power earlier… it's reacting…"

The glow intensified. Not just light—presence. Ancient. Otherworldly.

I narrowed my eyes. "This isn't normal."

BOOM.

A wave of energy burst outward, not destructive, but overwhelming. Reality itself rippled. Dreadbringer rose protectively.

Miku leaned into me, breathing uneven. "Kyro… they're waking up."

The air didn't settle. It thickened with every pulse from her body.

Miku doubled over. "Kyro.. !"

Another surge hit, Boom, knocking me clean off my feet. I hit the ground and slid back several meters before scrambling up.

"Okay, okay, what's happening?!"

She gripped her belly, wings flaring uncontrollably. "They're coming…!"

I stared. "Coming…? Now?!"

Panic hit hard. I turned in a circle like the answer might be hiding in the trees. "No no, no, this wasn't supposed to happen yet"

Dreadbringer rose abruptly, eyes wide. "…Babies… now??"

I pointed at him. "Do something!"

He recoiled. "…Eh. I breathe fire. That is all I do."

Another contraction. Miku cried out softly. Magic surged again, WHOOOOM lifting the ground into uneven ridges. I got knocked sideways.

"STOP DOING THAT!"

I scrambled back to her side. "Okay, okay, think" I looked at her glowing belly, then back at her face. "…I have no idea what I'm doing."

She glared through the pain. "I noticed !"

Dreadbringer leaned in, peering at the situation like it was a puzzle. "…Maybe… roar at them?"

"These are my kids, not enemies!"

"…Small roar?"

"NO."

Another contraction hit harder. Miku gasped, gripping my arm with surprising strength. This time the magic didn't explode outward it focused, condensing into a brighter, more powerful glow around her belly.

I froze. "That… doesn't look normal."

Dreadbringer backed up. "…That looks *very* not normal."

Miku leaned into me, breathing heavily. "Kyro… don't let go…"

I steadied myself immediately, holding her carefully. "I'm right here."

The forest went completely silent. Even the wind stopped. Mana began spiraling inward, drawn toward her, toward the children.

The panic didn't vanish, but something stronger pushed through it. Focus. Determination. I tightened my hold gently.

"Tell me what you need."

She shook her head, wincing. "I Don't, ah!"

I looked up at Dreadbringer. "You're a dragon, how do dragon babie come??.. what do I do?!"

"…This is not in dragon manual."

"YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A MANUAL!" I said in panic

"…Correct master.. You are smart ." dreadbringer replied with a snort..

Miku's glow intensified. Her wings spread wide, radiating light. Her body trembled.

"Kyro… they're not waiting…"

I took a steady breath. Then another. I placed one hand gently over her belly. The glow reacted instantly. I felt them, both of them (no, more) strong, wild, powerful.

My eyes softened despite everything. "Hey… easy…"

The energy surged again, but this time it stabilized. Miku clung to me, breathing uneven.

"It's happening…"

I swallowed. "Yeah… we're really doing this."

I forced my thoughts clear.

"System."

[SYSTEM SHOP OPENED]

"Emergency medical, anything."

[ITEM FOUND: Basic Home Birth Manual 100 Points]

"Buy."

[PURCHASE SUCCESSFUL]

Information flooded my mind clear, structured, step-by-step. Not perfect, but enough.

I exhaled sharply. "Alright."

I gathered Miku carefully but firmly. "I've got you."

She looked at me through pain and strain. "You better…"

I reached out, channeling mana and syncing briefly with her magic, borrowing just enough control. The ground beneath us softened and reshaped. Stone melted into smooth curves. Warm, clean water flowed in, gentle steam rising. A small controlled pool formed.

Dreadbringer blinked. "…He is building nest."

"IT'S NOT A NEST!"

"…Looks like nest."

"NOT. A. NEST."

I carefully guided Miku into the warm water. She gasped softly as some of the tension eased.

"That… helps…"

I stepped in with her, supporting her back. "Good. Stay with me."

Everything else faded. No war. No enemies. Just this.

"Listen to me," I said, voice steadier than I felt.

She nodded weakly. "I'm here…"

Another contraction surged. She cried out, gripping my shoulders tightly. I kept my focus, following what the manual had given me.

"Breathe, slow don't fight it "

The magic pulsed, flowing into the water instead of exploding outward. Contained. Controlled.

Time seemed to slow. Miku's breathing hitched, steadied, then pushed.

My eyes widened. "I see okay, okay "

A small cry pierced the air.

I carefully lifted the newborn from the water. Small. Glowing faintly. Alive.

For a moment everything stopped.

"…We did it…" My voice was quiet, almost disbelieving.

Miku slumped slightly in relief, breathing heavily. A faint, tired smile touched her lips. "One… three more…"

I blinked. "THREE MORE?!"

Dreadbringer leaned closer. "…Many babies…"

I stared at the tiny life in my hands. "Yeah… many babies…"

I gently placed the first child close to Miku, keeping them warm. "Hey… you're strong already."

Her expression softened completely. "Our first…"

No time to rest. Another contraction hit hard.

"Kyro, again!"

I straightened instantly. "Alright, round two."

Dreadbringer shifted, fully alert. "I will guard."

"Do that."

The first baby rested against Miku's chest, still glowing faintly. The silence that followed felt heavy in the best way.

I stared at the child for a long moment. "…That's real."

Miku gave a tired, soft smile. "No illusions this time."

A breath that was almost a laugh escaped me. "Yeah. I can tell."

I carefully adjusted the blanket of water magic around the baby awkward, but precise. "I thought I'd be better at this."

She glanced at me. "You are. You didn't drop them."

"…That's your standard?"

Her faint laugh broke through the pain for a second. "For now."

Somehow that was enough to steady me.

The short gap before the next contraction felt fragile. I stayed close, one hand resting in the water near her arm. Just watching her breathe.

"You're shaking," she said quietly.

"No I'm not."

She raised an eyebrow. "You are. Barely."

I sighed. "I just don't want to mess this up."

Her expression softened. "You already haven't."

A long silence. Then I added quietly, "I didn't think something like this would feel like a battlefield."

Miku looked at me more seriously. "It is a battlefield. Just not the kind you're used to."

I nodded slowly. "Yeah."

The second child arrived with less chaos but more intensity. The magic surged, then settled, recognizing the process. I held the baby briefly before passing them to Miku. My hands lingered a second too long.

"They're smaller than I expected," I muttered.

"They're new."

I looked at them again. "Still feels like they're staring at me already."

"Maybe they are."

That made me go quiet. Then, softer: "I don't know what I'm supposed to be."

Her hand found my wrist. "You don't have to know everything. Just stay."

I looked at her, really looked then nodded once. "Yeah. I can do that."

The water had cooled slightly; she adjusted it without effort. Even exhausted, her magic moved like instinct. I leaned closer this time, not hovering, not panicked. Just present.

Dreadbringer shifted behind us with a low rumble. "…Small ones… many."

I shot him a look. "Don't start."

Miku gave a tired laugh. "He's not wrong."

I exhaled through my nose. "Of course he's not."

Then my gaze softened again as she winced through another wave. I steadied her shoulder. "You're doing all the hard work."

She looked at me through damp hair. "You think so?"

"I know so." I glanced at the water. "I can fight armies. I can kill monsters. I can break space with a step. But I can't replace what you're doing right now."

She didn't answer immediately. Then she leaned forward, resting her forehead against my shoulder for a moment.

"Good," she whispered, a faint smile in her voice. "Don't try."

The air shifted again. The next contraction was coming, deeper this time. Older.

Her hand tightened on my arm. "Kyro."

I straightened instantly. "Yeah?"

She looked at me. Not scared. Just real. "Don't leave my side."

That hit harder than any wound.

I nodded immediately. "I'm not going anywhere. Even if I wanted to, I think Dreadbringer would tackle me."

From behind us: "…Correct."

Miku actually smiled at that. "Good."

I stayed closer now than ever not as a fighter, not as a system user, not as a dragon hybrid.

Just someone holding on through something bigger than war.

A few minutes later...

The water was still warm, but the tension that had filled the air for hours had finally drained away.

Soft cries replaced strain.

Gentle movement replaced struggle.

Life replaced pressure.

All four had arrived.

I sat slumped in the shallow basin, breathing like I'd just crawled out of a battle that had nothing to do with swords or magic, something far more exhausting. My hands were still trembling faintly. I didn't even notice until I tried to wipe steam from my face and realized the tremor was still there.

One of the newborns shifted against Miku's chest and let out a soft, uneven cry. Then another answered. Small, fragile sounds filled the space between us, not loud, not chaotic. Just… real.

I looked at them. All of them. One by one. Like I was afraid that if I blinked too long, the entire moment might dissolve.

"…They're all here," I said, quieter than I meant to. I cleared my throat. "Good."

As if that single word could somehow hold everything I was feeling.

Miku noticed anyway. Her gaze softened as she watched me, exhaustion written into every line of her face yet somehow peaceful.

"…You're crying."

I froze. "No I'm not."

A pause.

"…It's steam."

She tilted her head, a tired little smile pulling at her lips. "From your eyes?"

I tried to turn my face away. Too late. A tear slipped free. Then another. Quiet. Uncontrolled. I let out a short, almost embarrassed breath that was half a laugh at myself.

"…This is ridiculous."

Behind us Dreadbringer let out a deep, rumbling sound that rolled through the clearing. Then he laughed, a real, booming, prideful laugh that shook the leaves at the edge of the forest.

"…HAHA… small ones… live…"

I shot him a look. "Don't laugh."

His golden eyes narrowed in amusement. "…You are leaking water from face."

"It's called crying."

"…Why."

I groaned. "I hate all of you."

But there was no heat in it. Only the rawest kind of relief.

Miku shifted carefully, adjusting the four tiny bodies against her with the same precise care she used when weaving magic. Then she laughed too, soft at first, then fuller, the sound warm enough to ease something tight in my chest.

"…You're both terrible at this."

I blinked. "At what?"

She smiled at me, eyes shining. "Feeling things."

That made me pause. I exhaled slowly, letting my shoulders finally loosen.

"…Yeah," I admitted. "Guess I am."

The babies' cries gradually softened as the warmth and safety of the water and Miku's presence settled around them. She leaned back slightly, exhausted but peaceful in a way I hadn't seen in a long time. I reached out again, careful, slower this time and rested my hand near them, not pressing, just present. Close enough that one tiny fist brushed against my fingers.

"…They're so small," I murmured.

Miku nodded, her voice quiet. "They'll grow."

I looked at her, then back at the four little lives curled against her. A faint smile formed this time, no panic, no disbelief. Just something steady.

"…Yeah. We'll make sure of it."

Dreadbringer lowered his massive head behind us, watching with unusual stillness. "…New pack…"

I didn't argue this time. "Yeah," I said softly. "Something like that."

For the first time in what felt like forever, there was no battle waiting on the horizon. No seals breaking. No enemies moving through the trees. Just warm water, quiet breathing, and four small lives adjusting to a world that suddenly felt both larger and more fragile than anything I'd ever faced.

I stayed right there in the basin, one hand resting near our children, the other steadying Miku's shoulder. Every so often one of the babies would shift or let out a soft sound, and something in my chest would tighten and loosen all over again.

Miku's fingers found mine beneath the water and laced through them without a word. I squeezed back gently.

"…You did it," I whispered.

She leaned her head against my shoulder, eyes half-closed. "We did."

I let out a long, quiet breath and finally stopped pretending the tears had anything to do with steam.

Behind us Dreadbringer rumbled a low, contented sound, like a living wall keeping the rest of the world at bay. The forest itself seemed to hold its breath in respect.

And for a little while longer, that was enough.

Just this fragile, perfect quiet after the storm.
