"Really?" she muttered.
Harris studied her expression from the corner of his eyes, then he nodded. "Yeah. They even went as far as tying my hair with ribbons when I was little. It was only when the neighbors started thinking I was my mother's fifth daughter that they finally stopped."
"What about your parents?" Aria asked again, her brows raising curiously.
Harris went quiet for a moment before parting his lips. "They're both dead," he muttered, picking up a snack and tossing it into his mouth.
Aria froze instantly, becoming much quieter.
"My father died when I was ten," he continued, munching the food casually. "He was funny. He used to tell everyone he wanted five sons." He paused, a small smile appearing on his lips. "But he got four daughters and me."
Aria pressed her lips together tighter, staring at his face as though trying to read through it. But there was no gloominess on it at all.
