Chapter 10 - Seojin

Didn't the High Lord say he would make sure no one knew about this? Already loose lips are flapping away. Hopefully they don't know it was him specifically. That would be embarrassing. He takes another big bite and tucks the now empty stick into his back pocket. He'll throw it away later.

"Trying to hide away?" A familiar voice comes from beside him.

Yujin smiles with a full mouth and sits straight. He glances up to see the person he was looking for earlier.

He knew Seojin was around somewhere. His calming presence is already drawing the attention of those nearby, including the group of gossipers behind him.

The guide tilts his head, strands of long black hair falling over his shoulder. His dark eyes gleam as he narrows them on him. Seojin is not only a high grade guide, but also the High Lord's son, and heir to the title.

Seojin leans forward to flick Yujin on the forehead. The esper swallows thickly and scowls up at him, reaching up with his free hand to rub the barely sore spot. Sometimes when he doesn't spend a long time with his friend, he forgets just how handsome he is in person.

There's a loud gasp behind them as the group of guides from before huddle closer together. They stare at Seojin with wide eyes, but the long haired man ignores them, seeming used to the attention.

"You chose a horrible spot to sit at." Seojin says, loud enough for the guides behind them to hear. Though it does little to deter them.

He pulls his black hair over one shoulder before taking the seat next to Yujin.

Yujin snorts, "If I knew they'd be gossiping so much I would've avoided sitting here." He takes a meat stick and offers it to him, but Seojin wrinkles his nose at it. Yujin shrugs and takes a large bite, "Suit yourself." He says.

"Don't talk with your mouth full," Seojin scoffs. He leans back against the seat and crosses his arms over his chest as he stares down at the fighting area below.

Seojin looks delicate with his small and wiry frame and his nice flowing dress shirt and pants. He has a sharp jaw line and a slender nose, with long eyelashes. Overall, he's very pretty. Being the son to the High Lord, and with his natural good looks, he often finds himself the center of gossip.

Yujin doesn't understand how he can stand it. Used to it or not, it often gets on Yujin's nerves when it's directed at him.

Seojin leans forward to examine Yujin's face, his black hair like a curtain that smells of flowery shampoo, "Did you not come with Verce?" He asks as he glances around them.

Yujin smacks his lips, his tongue licking off the bit of sauce on the corner of his mouth. "I left him with the carriage." He snickers.

Seojin hums and tucks the long strands of black hair behind his ear. "You've been guiding regularly, right? Do you-" he holds out his hand in an offer before he even finishes his sentence.

Yujin can feel the lingering gazes behind them and resists the urge to stand up and moon them. Maybe they would stop staring if they witnessed his bare cheeks. However he knows they don't stare because of him, but because of Seojin.

His friend may be a beauty of the High Lords family that garners attention, but he's more famed for being a competent guide.

Ding! Ding!

While at the academy, Seojin will probably get a first pick of guiding any esper he'd like.

Yujin rolls his eyes and pushes more food into his mouth. Empty, he puts the second stick into his back pocket. "Yes. Before we left, my father practically forced me too."

"Good." Seojin relaxes. He glances down at the open arena, dark eyes scanning the area once more as if he's in search of someone. "I heard the prince will be participating. Hopefully the stands will fill up quickly so they can start the matches."

Multiple gasps come from behind and Yujin glances back with an irritated look. Will they be eavesdropping on everything they say, now? The group of guides clear their throats, all of them quiet as a mouse and their ears tilting towards them. Apparently so.

"Which prince?" Yujin chuckles. "The annoying one or the-"

"The handsome one." Seojin sighs dreamily. He nearly folds his hands on his lap and straightens his back. "He may be only a second year at the academy, but it's rumored that his skills as an esper are beyond that. Father believes he could join a guild before he graduates."

Yujin's eyebrows raise, "He can do that?" He quickly finishes off the rest of his food and wipes his hands along his pants leg sleeve. Seojin wrinkles his nose at his dirty habit but doesn't say anything about it.

He's learned long ago that Yujin will be Yujin and no one will be able to change that. No matter how many punishments his mother gives him.

"If he's talented enough." Seojin nods, answering Yujin's question.

"If that did happen, he'd probably pick the Illuminate Guild, huh?" Yujin asks quietly. It's a guild that's associated with the royal family, it's basically tradition for a son of royal blood to join. The royal blood line is most often than not, blessed by a dungeon god associated with light. Whether it be fire, lightning, or light fragments itself.

"You are unbelievable." Verce stumbles up the stairs before regaining his balance. He huffs out a breath and straightens up, readjusting his coat when he sees Seojin sitting beside his brother.

He flashes the guide a kind smile before he groans and plops down on the seat on Yujin's other side. "You know how long it took to find you? You haven't even registered yet!"

Yujin groans and shrugs him off, "There's plenty of time for that. I had to get a good seat before they were all taken."
