Chapter 28 - Test

The training field was expansive—open sky, clean lines, no places to hide. Ren felt it immediately.

This space encourages release.

Aizawa gathered them.

"You've spent the last three years taking standardized tests that suppress your Quirks," he said. "That's unrealistic. Heroes don't work that way."

He held up a softball.

"We'll be testing your physical abilities using your Quirks. Last place gets expelled."

Silence.

Then panic.

Ren didn't react.

Not because he didn't believe it—but because he already understood Aizawa's philosophy. Fear was a tool here. Pressure revealed priorities.

UA doesn't coddle, Ren thought. Good.

The tests began.

50-meter dash.

Bakugo detonated forward. Iida's engines roared. Ren stepped off calmly, energy flowing through his legs in controlled reinforcement. No burst. No spectacle.

Just efficiency.

He crossed near the top, earning a few surprised glances.

Grip strength.

Ren focused energy into his forearm, compressing force inward. The device creaked. Numbers spiked. He released immediately.

Aizawa marked it down.

Standing long jump. Side steps. Sit-ups.

Ren excelled quietly. Not dominant—but consistently high. His control had reached the point where reinforcement felt like breathing. No backlash. No strain.

He noticed something else too.

Negative energy was everywhere.

Nerves. Competition. Fear of failure.

But one source stood out sharply.

Todoroki Shoto.

Ren didn't look at him directly, but the energy was impossible to ignore. Cold restraint layered over internal conflict—compressed so tightly it felt heavy.

This density… Ren realized. This isn't just emotion. It's pressure that's been sitting for years.

His reservoir deepened noticeably just standing within range.

UA really is different.

Then Aizawa called the final test.

Ball throw.

Bakugo went first. Explosions. Distance shattered. Aizawa calmly erased the record.

Others followed.

Then—

"Midoriya Izuku."

The air tightened.

Midoriya stepped forward, nervous, clutching the ball.

Aizawa's gaze sharpened. "Explain your Quirk."

The lecture came next—precise, cold, surgical.

"You rely on self-destruction."

"You lack control."

"That's not sustainable."

Each word landed hard.

Ren felt it immediately.

Fear surged. Shame. Desperation.

This is raw, Ren thought. And powerful.

He absorbed passively, letting the energy flow without drawing attention. Midoriya's emotions spiraled, then condensed.

Midoriya threw.

with his finger using one for all.

With control.

The ball flew.

A good distance.

Midoriya dropped, arm shaking but intact.

Silence. After the rest of the tests

Aizawa checked the result.

The test ended.

Midoriya was last as expected , i was 5 place, as midoriya started to get panic attacks

Aizawa addressed them again.

"I lied," he said. "I don't expel students without reason."

Groans. Complaints. Relief.

Ren didn't react.

Instead, he felt his reservoir settle—denser than when the day began. UA wasn't just a school.

It was an amplifier.

And now—

He could finally train without hiding.
