Chapter 21 - Chapter 21

I slammed the library door so hard I think it came out clean. My eyes I could feel had gone orange and my other half was agitated. Hearing them speaking of his mate like that had him clawing my skull. My animal instincts were going haywire, I needed a space were I could be alone and let my wolf free. I pulled my shirt above my head and just as fast pulled down my pants in one swipe.

The moment my pants hit the ground my massive wolf tore through the air as it bounded for the forest. I ran as fast as my feet could carry me. I could hear my beta wolf trying to connect but my mind was too muddled to pay attention. I didn't even want to. I felt like I was someone else, trying to disconnect myself from the pain of the threat to my mate.

I knew they probably meant well but I didn't want to hear any of it. I had waited for my mate for so long and when he finally showed up they said I couldn't have him. My wolf and I shared the same sentiments. We both had accepted the bond and wanted it to bind. There wasn't a single soul out there that would be as compatible as Ekron was.

We would fight for him. I didn't care whether he was dangerous or whatever, I had waited this long and I wasn't giving up now. Lunar love had given him to us, and nobody was taking him from us either. Besides, what greater honor than for a mate dying for his other half?

I had been so upset and caught up in my own head that I didn't realize where I had gone till we were howling at the moon. My howl was loud and solemn, but it also held strength. I could feel my pack responding as they answered to the call of their alpha. I spent a whole five minutes just letting out whatever was eating me alive.

When we settled down, my wolf was digging his feet into the soil and pushing his nose into the ground, snorting the soil he was inhaling. My wolf had this thing were when he was frustrated, he would stick his nose in the soil then come up to snort it out again. It infuriated me because sometimes we would inhale the soil and it would go up our windpipe giving us an annoying suffocating feeling.

If that wasn't enough he would also start gnarling on sticks or trees.

"Stupid wolf" I muttered into my head as we tried to sniff the soil out.

A presence startled me and I snapped my head to my left were someone sat on the other side.

I didn't smell them because I was so busy digging my feet into the ground and sniffing the damp earth.

And because even if I tried to, he didn't have a scent.

He was a smiling, ever happy guy who came to town a few years back. Or maybe I actually don't remember him ever entering pack lands. He was just there one moment, and we had silently agreed that he would stay because he didn't cause any violent reaction from the pack. I didn't particularly feel any certain way about the guy but that didn't mean I trusted him.

He was probably the last person I trusted on earth.

Because he didn't smell like anything and was always so damn happy.

What the fuck was he always smiling and shitting rainbows for anyway. From the time I met him, every fucking day was a holiday for him. Smiling and giggling like the sun rose from his ass.

I sighed in my head knowing damn well I was projecting my anger on the wrong person. I wanted to be alone right now and dealing with happy people was the worst when I was in a mood like this one.

Should I leave? He seemed to have being here before me. I snorted one last time and made to trot down the hill when he moved. I stopped and turned to look at him. He had stood and was awkwardly smiling widely at me. I gestured to the steep down the hill and he moved closer again.

"Can we talk?" He asked without breaking from his smiling teeth. Honestly now that I look at him from my wolf's point of view I don't think I have ever seen him NOT smiling. It was like he was incapable of NOT smiling. How is it that I have never noticed this guy properly.

I shifted then, his face taking on a red tint as he tried to look everywhere but my junk. I was a wolf and didn't really care much for modesty, but we were at a hill in the forest, he didn't expect me to magically conjure cloths just for his sake, right? Besides, he was the one that wanted to talk so he would have to do it like this.

"Alpha" He addressed me. Another thing, we didn't know how he knew we were werewolves, but he knew and always addressed us as such. He would say beta to Austin and Alpha to me. And somehow that had also just automatically become our reality. We didn't know who or what he was, but we just knew.

Or maybe my parents did.

He shuffled around the soil a few seconds before his gaze locked with mine and I waited for him to speak. I didn't want to call him out because I honestly couldn't remember his name currently. I was digging my mind for his name.

I will probably remember it as he speaks.

Another thing about this guy was that he never aged. I specifically remember him being this young even as we were growing up.

And I only ever remember his existence when am face to face with him.
