Three Months Later
A Promise Kept
The afternoon sun filtered through the trees of the quiet cemetery. Stella stood before Aunt Melissa's grave, holding a bouquet of fresh white lilies. It had been exactly three months since she took over the company.
She knelt down, placing the flowers gently against the stone.
"It's over, Aunt Melissa," Stella said softly, a genuine smile finally touching her lips. "They're gone. Every single one of them is behind bars for the rest of their lives. The Vance Organization is safe, and we are finally doing the work you always wanted to do, out in the open. No more hiding."
A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, bringing a sense of profound peace Stella hadn't felt in years. She had fulfilled her mission. She had protected the legacy.
Turning back toward her waiting vehicle, Stella opened the door and stepped inside. But as the driver pulled away from the curb, her mind drifted away from the company, away from the victory, and straight to him.
Hadrian.
She hadn't heard a word from him, or the HSS, in ninety days. He knew her secret. He held her life in his hands, yet he hadn't exposed her. Why? Was he hunting her, or had he chosen to let her go?
As she stared out the window at the passing city skyline, a heavy question weighed on her heart: Should I just forget him? Is it time to leave him behind in the shadows forever?
She closed her eyes, letting the thoughts drift away as the car merged into the traffic.
Three Years Later...
The years passed like a blur of hard work, growth, and transformation. Three years later, the Vance Organization was a global beacon of hope, and Stella Vance was no longer a ghost in the shadows—she was one of the most powerful, respected CEOs in the country.
But the past has a way of catching up, no matter how fast you run.
