Chapter 48 - Chapter 48

The Boardroom Ambush

The atmosphere in the grand boardroom of the Vance Organization was thick with arrogance. A handful of Aunt Melissa's former "friends"—the corrupt board members and investors who had spent years trying to leech off the company—sat around the mahogany table. They smiled like predators, convinced that a young woman stepping out of nowhere would be easy prey.

"Let's be realistic, Stella," one of them said, leaning back and steepling his fingers. "Melissa is gone. She had the money, sure, but she's out of the picture now. We tolerated her little charity projects, but you? You're just a girl trying to fill a giant's shoes. We still control the true power here."

Stella didn't blink. She sat at the head of the table, her posture perfectly straight—a habit drilled into her by years in the HSS. She let them talk, let them expose their greed, and let them think they had the upper hand.

Beside her sat Mr. Harrison, the loyal lawyer Aunt Melissa had trusted above all others. He now officially served as Stella's chief legal counsel for the NGO, and his expression was a mask of cold professionalism.

"Is that all?" Stella asked, her voice calm, devoid of any fear.

Before they could answer, Mr. Harrison opened a thick, leather-bound dossier. On Stella's signal, a massive screen on the wall flickered to life, displaying bank statements, offshore routing numbers, and encrypted communications.

"While you were busy planning your takeover," Stella said, her voice dropping to a dangerous, lethal register, "my legal team and I were digging. We didn't just find your embezzled funds. We found the illicit drug trafficking routes you ran through our shipping sectors, the money laundering, and the systematic extortion of the very people this NGO protects."

The smiles vanished from the board members' faces. Panic set in. One of them lunged forward, but Stella merely leveled a gaze so fiercely commanding it stopped him in his tracks.

"The police are already downstairs," Stella whispered. "You're done."

Justice Served

The trial was swift and brutal for the wolves. Armed with the irrefutable evidence Stella had gathered using her covert HSS skills, combined with Mr. Harrison's brilliant legal maneuvering, the defense collapsed within weeks. The sheer scale of their atrocities—trafficking drugs under the guise of humanitarian aid—left the judge with no leniency.

The verdict was unanimous: Life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

The corrupt shadow that had loomed over the Vance Organization for a decade was finally eradicated. The NGO was safe, its massive wealth now purely dedicated to helping orphans, the disabled, and the forgotten.
