Ten minutes after the video dropped, the comment section exploded.
"Guys, the UP you follow just updated!"
"Is this the 'streamer stops streaming' arc??"
"Late-night poison alert!"
"Posting FOOD content at 1 AM, have some decency!"
"Wait, is that dish literally GLOWING?"
Longtime YouTube subscribers caught the video within minutes, bracing themselves for another dirty tactic breakdown, hoping Teacher Luke was doing okay mentally. What they got instead: the scoundrel had apparently rebranded as a food blogger?
Career pivot, sure, fine — but who drops a video at one in the morning?
More importantly — the food actually looked incredible. Golden roast, thick glossy sauce, a warm filter, gentle background score—
"I am STARVING right now, this isn't fair."
"Why did I click this at 1 AM."
"Teacher Luke, take my money, all of it."
Beyond the plating, Gastly's eating segment stole the show entirely — pure unfiltered enthusiasm, steam practically rolling off the screen. Right as the five-minute torture session neared its end, Gastly had nearly cleared the plate — and then Teacher Luke pulled out a second portion and started eating it himself.
"I have never witnessed shamelessness on this level."
"Petition: rename this channel to Rebroadcast."
"...Okay but not gonna lie, his actual cooking looks legit good."
Even judged by a genuinely critical eye, there wasn't a technical flaw to point to. A gaming streamer with cooking chops this clean was nobody's expectation.
And it was, notably, the first time Teacher Luke had ever shown his face on camera. Slender hands working through the recipe, his profile lit warm under the kitchen light, that soft background music playing underneath—
"Why am I tearing up over a cooking video."
"Is this seriously the same Teacher Luke??"
"Sir, whoever you are, we want our tactics streamer back please"
From technique to editing, the video was airtight as a piece of food content — deliberately styled after midnight-diner shows from the wider world, no flashy cuts, just a calm, faintly husky narration running underneath. It was easy to imagine this format kicking off a whole new wave of Lifestyle-category creators.
What genuinely floored viewers, though, was the ending. Mid-lick on the empty plate, clearly angling for seconds — Gastly had just evolved. On camera. Out of nowhere.
Wait, can COOKING trigger evolution?
Is this some new evolution mechanic nobody's talked about?
"I'm actually speechless, there's an evolution method like THIS?"
"Is Teacher Luke secretly a certified breeder too??"
Certain breeders genuinely did specialize in food-based Pokémon care — Poffin from Sinnoh, Max Soup and Curry dishes out of Galar, all documented, legitimate methods. Cooking-as-care wasn't controversial. What baffled people was the source.
He's supposed to be the tactics guy. When did he pick up breeding too?
"Is this what peak human performance looks like?"
"Handsome AND he cooks?? Come on."
"Luke I am in love, I said it."

Pewter City. Pewter Gym.
Late into the night, after finally getting his younger siblings settled down to sleep, a broad-shouldered man with a resolute jaw stretched and turned to the sibling still trailing behind him, smiling. "Good work today, James. Get some rest too."
James — bearing maybe seventy percent resemblance to Brock — nodded, headed for the door, then paused and turned back, serious. "You worked hard too, big brother."
"What are you talking about," Brock said, laughing, ruffling James's hair. "This is just what I'm supposed to do."
Pewter Gym carried real weight within the Kanto League, but a Gym Leader's salary alone barely stretched to cover nine younger siblings. On top of running the gym, Brock also worked security at the Pewter City Museum — where, incidentally, he'd first picked up his Kabutops. Beyond battling, he'd built a genuine reputation as a skilled breeder too.
Settling in at his computer for his nightly breeding-research routine, something caught his eye instead: a video climbing the trending charts fast.
"'Midnight Diner'?" Brock murmured, squinting. "Cooking content?"
His own cooking wasn't half bad, if he said so himself. But the "breeder" tag attached to the video pulled his curiosity in a different direction.
Raising a Pokémon through cooking, specifically?
Breeders — caretakers, more broadly — covered a lot of ground: egg incubation, grooming, food prep, all of it. Strictly speaking, even Gold and Blue counted as breeders in their own right. Diamond, out of Sinnoh, was famously skilled with Poffin specifically.
Brock clicked the video and settled in, watching the cooking process with focused attention. Technique was a touch rough around the edges, sure, but nothing genuinely wrong with it.
Then the evolution scene hit, and his eyes widened slightly.
Staged for views?
No — that's a real evolution, triggered by the food itself.
He stroked his chin, thinking it through. Is it the emotional weight baked into the dish? Some other breeding technique entirely?
Emotional energy was a strange, poorly understood force in this world — but undeniably real. Viridian Power let a Pokémon temporarily exceed its own limits; the old legends of bond-based power ran on the same underlying principle. This Gastly clearly shared an intense bond with its Trainer, and the dish — made personally, by hand, with real intent behind it — had almost certainly been the actual catalyst.
"Well, now." Brock smiled faintly. "That's a genuinely excellent breeder."
The single most important trait in a breeder wasn't technique — it was a real, sincere love for Pokémon. This video alone earned Teacher Luke Brock's full respect.
Brock's fist clenched, expression turning serious. This — this is mutual recognition. Breeder to breeder.
Eager to compare notes, he thought it over and finally sent a message.
Rock Solid: Hello.
Half an hour of silence followed. Luke, having just finished his instant noodles, came back to find he'd lost over thirty thousand followers in that window.
"Wow, okay, that's a brutal reaction," Luke said, eyebrows raised. "I thought that was a genuinely good video."
Follower count was already climbing back steadily, though, so he wasn't especially worried. He cleared out his notification dots one by one — until an ID called "Rock Solid" caught his eye. The profile picture: a gray octagonal badge, unmistakably the Rock-type insignia for Pewter Gym.
Luke's mouth twitched as he clicked through to the profile — sure enough, a heavily built man with a permanent squint stared back.
"Eh, what's one more," Luke sighed, and typed back.
Teacher Luke: Hey. Just join the group chat.
