Chapter 24 - Chapter 24

Special Story Quest? What was that supposed to be?

In all this time, this was the first time Kaito had ever encountered something called a "Special Story." There was no explanation for anything like it in the Uma Musume Training Handbook. Could it be something like those random stat-boost mini-events that triggered in the game?

While Kaito was still puzzling it out, the body in his arms shifted.

Seiun Sky wriggled closer, nestling herself against him. Her ears twitched as she leaned into his chest, looking every bit like a spoiled, clingy little wife.

"How bold of you, Trainer," Seiun Sky murmured lazily into his ear."Teio's still right here, you know—and yet you're doing this with Aozora-chan. Wouldn't it be better to sneak around in private? Of course… if Trainer doesn't mind, then Aozora-chan doesn't mind either."

Her sky-blue eyes were hazy, glossed over with a seductive sheen. As she spoke, her lips parted and closed slowly, strands of silvery saliva catching the sunlight and stretching between them.

That liquor-filled-candy sweetness on her face was too much.

Kaito reached out instinctively, wanting to mess up her cheeks—

"Ahm~"

Seiun Sky bit down on his thumb.

The slick, warm sensation sent a jolt straight through him.

Soft…Too cute… I want to—

"All right, that's ENOUGH!"

Tokai Teio finally snapped.

Her hair stood on end as she leapt to her feet, unable to endure it any longer. There was no way she could keep waiting politely while Seiun Sky kept escalating like this.

That girl was getting more outrageous by the minute!

Teio grabbed Seiun Sky and yanked her straight off Kaito—then plopped herself down in her place without hesitation.

"Trainer."She lowered her head slightly, swishing her ponytail back and forth, clearly asking to be patted.

Seiun Sky didn't even look angry. She leaned back, hands laced behind her head, watching Teio's completely harmless display with an amused smile.

"What are you two even doing…?" Kaito asked, absentmindedly stroking Teio's head.

"Trainer, don't you think Teio's been eating too much lately?" Seiun Sky said with a smile that wasn't threatening at all—yet somehow incredibly cutting."At this rate, I feel like she's about to get all round and chubby."

"YOU'RE the one who's round!" Teio shot back."My magnificent Teio-sama has a flawless figure!"

Teio's build leaned toward the petite side, but her full thighs, slim waist, and delicately shaped chest were perfectly balanced. In Kaito's honest opinion, she could easily rank in the top five among all Uma Musume.

"Eating more is good," Kaito said. "You're still growing."

"…When you say 'growing,' Trainer, you don't mean gaining weight, right?"

"Of course not. Teio's perfect just the way she is."

"Hehehe~"

Teio leaned back against Kaito's chest, rubbing her head lightly under his chin. Off to the side, Seiun Sky looked away, her gaze drifting somewhere distant, her expression unreadable.

"Teio, get down for a bit. I need to take care of something," Kaito said, still not fully understanding what was going on—he was just following their conversation.

Truth be told, his memories didn't quite line up with theirs.Weight? Figure? Weren't they just… cuddling Sky like a cat a moment ago?

"Eeh—!? Trainer hugged Sky for so long, and when it's my turn, it's only this much? No way! I don't wanna! I wanna hug Trainer!"

Teio clung stubbornly to Kaito's thigh, wriggling nonstop.

The constant contact made Kaito's blood surge on instinct.

Noticing something, Teio suddenly froze. A mischievous grin spread across her face as she gently rubbed against him again.

"Trainer doesn't want me to leave, right?" she whispered sweetly."If you say, 'My dear Teio-sama, please stay with me,' I'll help you take care of that little problem. Look—Trainer, you're already at Teio-sama's door. Just a tiny bit more, and you'll reach the most comfortable place of all~"

This filly—how does she know this much!?Why was he even bothering with Sky? Teio was clearly the dangerous one!

"My dear Teio-sama," Seiun Sky said calmly, yanking Teio's tail,"Could you please stop making trouble for the Trainer?"

"Ow—!! Sky! What are you doing!?"

"Can't you see how troubled the Trainer is? You're an Uma Musume, yet you're always causing him problems," Seiun Sky said, looking utterly righteous.

Now that he'd returned to reality, the Uma Musume's emotions were unbelievably vivid. Compared to the flat, uneventful game world, this place was infinitely more interesting.

Kaito listened to the two of them bicker.

So… this was a random event?

"Don't you two have class?" he asked.

"It's break time. We came to play with Trainer and ran into each other by chance."

"But class is about to start."

"Then you should head back."

"What!? We were just getting started, Trainer!" Teio protested.

Kaito wanted to stay with them a bit longer too—but he had something more important to confirm.

He had briefly returned to reality—and it synced perfectly with the game.

Random events.Yes, this was exactly like the small interludes inserted into the long training cycles in the Uma Musume mobile game.

Race events. Random events. What else… personal events?

If training equaled the game, and story equaled reality, then entering a story meant returning to reality itself.

The system's logic was finally starting to make sense.

He hadn't fully crossed over—this right now was his normal state. What he'd entered at the beginning was an abnormal, system-only world.

Not knowing what the Trainer was thinking, Teio puffed out her cheeks. He looked ready, and she'd already warmed up completely—just waiting for him to step into the "nursery."

If they were alone, she could've made him behave properly without effort. But with Seiun Sky still here, she didn't have the chance.

Reluctantly, Teio left the room.

Not long after, the door quietly opened again.

A green cat slipped back inside.

It was Seiun Sky.

Her lips curled into a smile.

"Trainer… it's finally just the two of us."

So that's how it was—pretending to leave just to trick Teio.

Teio really was too innocent.

Then what was Sky here for?Surely she wasn't planning to continue Teio's unfinished "child-rearing project, right…?

Seiun Sky leaned close to Kaito's ear, her voice full of anticipation.

"Trainer said earlier that you wanted to go fishing with me, right?"

Kaito froze.

The story… had triggered.

In an incredibly strange way.

Natural—yet coincidental to the point of unease.

It was as if some invisible force was guiding them, silently nudging everything into place.

Swallowing, Kaito answered with a complicated feeling in his chest.

"…Yeah. I want to go fishing with you."

"Then come with me, Trainer," Seiun Sky said brightly."This weekend, Aozora-chan will take you to the little grove. Don't worry—I'll protect you, so nothing dangerous will happen. We'll just relax all day, nice and easy. What do you say?"

"…Sounds good. What should I bring?"

"Aozora-chan will prepare everything. Trainer just needs to bring yourself."

She smiled softly.

"I'm looking forward to our weekend, Trainer."
