Chapter 11 - Professional Practice

After searching these two households, Lin Chen planned to return.

Firstly, the bamboo basket on Old Yellow Ox's back was almost full; secondly, he intended to take a longer, roundabout path back.

With Old Yellow Ox accompanying and reminding him, he could also find a few older trees to sense the power of Nature.

He also cut a few branches from each type of tree, placed them in bottles filled with water mixed with spring of recovery.

This longer route almost hugged the iron fence of the protected area, remaining peaceful until it neared the valley where Moon Crescent Lake was located, when it became lively again.

"Do you have any public ethics? You lure zombies to the entrance, how are others supposed to get in and out?"

"Exactly! This is not your camp. You blocked the entrance, causing us to almost get bitten by zombies and even sprain an arm. Should not you compensate us?"

"Did not I heal you?"

"Your meager healing amount did not even fully restore my health!"

A group of people blocked the camp entrance, arguing fiercely, but they all tacitly stood within the camp's boundaries, seemingly just venting their frustrations without actually fighting.

Lin Chen, leading Old Yellow Ox, quietly walked past, secretly delighted. So many new faces! He should be able to earn quite a few Copper Coins!

"Hey, wait, Lin Chen, you tell us, is there a problem with us fighting monsters at the camp entrance? We even learned it from you!"

Liu Luoluo grabbed Lin Chen, shouting loudly.

"..."

Lin Chen pulled his hand away. "Of course there is no problem with fighting monsters at the camp entrance, but the premise is not to affect others. Otherwise, why would not I lure zombies to fight today?"

Of course, he felt that professional practice was much easier than fighting zombies. Who made him a Druid who loved peace and had little offensive power?

Everyone knew that where there were many people, there were also many zombies, but he had no intention of joining the fun, as he simply lacked the ability to confront a large number of zombies head on.

Moreover, judging by the Druid's Spell list, the attack power of 1st level Spells was insufficient. There was no point in thinking about going out and slaughtering until he reached level 3 and learned 2nd level Spells.

However, as long as he played it safe, a Druid could fight, tank, and heal, making survival not difficult.

On the way back, he sensed several different types of trees and gained 10 points of professional experience. Killing 5 zombies today only gave him 5 points of kill experience. The former was obtained comfortably, while the latter required caution and fear. A comparison made it clear what to do.

Of course, combat ability could not be ignored. Lin Chen felt that he could find a few zombies every day to practice Spells, but he did not need to really grind monsters to level up like in a game.

If it relied entirely on fighting monsters, each person would need to kill at least 50 zombies to fill their kill experience quota.

Only two zombies were generated by one person who failed to log into the game. With so many people leveling up, this number of zombies was definitely not enough.

Coupled with the hint in the attribute panel that kill experience for leveling up to level 2 could account for a maximum of 50%, this indicated that professional experience was far more important than kill experience.

Thinking of this, Lin Chen still reminded them, "Study your profession's description more. Professional practice is also very important! Do not just blindly copy the game's monster grinding and leveling up approach."

"Professional practice? What professional practice?"

Lin Chen's words left them stunned.

Thinking that these people were potential residents of his territory, Lin Chen kindly explained, "Have not you noticed that skills and Spells and such all require actual learning before they can be used? Unlike in games, where you learn them instantly. I do not know the detailed situations of other professions, so I will use myself as an example."

"For instance, I am a Druid. Druids are divine Spellcasters, and their power comes from Nature. So, if I want more power, of course, I have to protect Nature. In simple terms, I need to build a good relationship with Nature. So, I get close to plants, take care of plants, and if my actions are effective, I can gain professional experience."

"So you were watering trees this morning?" Cheng Wei suddenly realized, "Is Druid practice that simple? Green Mountain Forest is so big, it should be easy for you to cultivate!"

"Not at all, it has to be an effective action. If a tree does not need water, watering it is useless. How to practice specifically depends on individual understanding," Lin Chen had figured out a pattern, but he could not guarantee its effectiveness, and he had spring of recovery. If others copied him, they would only be doing futile work.

Lin Chen's words made them reflect. They stopped arguing and opened their adventurer's handbooks to check the professional descriptions they had previously overlooked.

Unfortunately, there was not a single Druid among them, so they could not learn from each other.

Lin Chen took the opportunity to slip away with Old Yellow Ox.

After tying Old Yellow Ox to the tree trunk supporting the Treehouse, Lin Chen moved the contents of the bamboo basket into his home.

Then he carried a hoe and took Old Yellow Ox to Moon Crescent Lake to dig a basket of mud and collect some stones.

Then, on the platform at the Treehouse entrance, he used stones to enclose a square area of about 2 square meters and filled it with thick soil.

This area was far from the ground and within the Treehouse's protected range. Without permission, others could not climb up the wooden ladder, making it perfect for planting small things.

He inserted the brought back branches into the soil, used Druidcraft to promote their rooting, and then sprinkled water mixed with spring of recovery at the base of the branches to ensure their survival rate.

Later, he would rely on them for planting trees outside.

After finishing these tasks, Lin Chen selected a few seeds of each type he had collected today, wrapped them up, and put them in his pocket before heading to Oak Grocery.

"Welcome to Oak Grocery... I am the clerk Wu Ya Ya... For purchasing adventure items, please check the product catalog at the counter. For selling plant seeds or saplings, please go to the back room to find Old Man Xiao Mu."

Wu Ya Ya lay on the cushion, and upon hearing someone enter, it weakly delivered its opening line.

After a day of business, sales were zero. Many people came to watch, but few bought anything, and there were always some inexplicable people who called it an NPC, wanting to gain benefits from it.

As a normal bird, Wu Ya Ya's fundamental quality was to be utterly stingy. How could it give benefits to others? The people on this planet must have something wrong with their brains.

"I want to sell some plant seeds," Lin Chen looked at the raven with amusement. Its movements and expressions were so lively that it made people unable to control their urges. He silently caressed Yuan Gun Gun in his arms, controlling that impulse.

"Not just random weeds dug from the ground, or casually broken branches?" Wu Ya Ya asked suspiciously. Today, many people, in order to earn money, pulled up some grass and broke off some branches to sell, even things that were common in the camp. They could not even pass its inspection; its owner had already secretly collected them.

"No," Lin Chen took out the seeds and placed them on the counter.

Wu Ya Ya poked at them with its claw. "Good, they are still viable. Old Man Xiao Mu should be interested. You can go through that door to find him!"

Lin Chen nodded, walked to the door near the resting area, and pushed it open.
