Following Yang Hui through the training camp, Bai Yue quickly realized that calling this place a "camp" was a gross understatement.
It was closer to an ancient palace complex.
Layer upon layer of classical architecture unfolded before him—immaculate courtyards, elegant pavilions, winding stone paths, and carefully arranged bridges spanning flowing streams. Exotic flowers and rare plants flourished everywhere, their fragrance lingering faintly in the air. Towers and halls rose and fell in natural harmony, each step revealing another carefully preserved scene.
Beyond the main palace structures were clusters of refined residences. From time to time, young men and women dressed in training attire passed by. They came from different countries and races, yet all carried the same sharp, restrained aura unique to elite martial artists.
These were the students of the Elite Training Camp.
Yang Hui gestured ahead. "That's the Nine-Story Building."
A towering structure rose before them, imposing and solemn.
"This is where students study and train. Some of the most important specialized training rooms are inside."
As he spoke, they reached the entrance, entered without delay, and proceeded directly to the elevator area. Moments later, they were ascending toward the ninth floor.
With a soft chime, the doors opened.
The ninth floor was a vast open hall. Training mats were arranged neatly across the ground, and dozens of young men and women sat in small groups, chatting casually. The air buzzed with multiple languages—English, Chinese, and others interwoven together.
The moment Bai Yue and Yang Hui stepped out, many gazes turned toward them.
"Chinese?"
"Newcomers? Looks like China's sending someone else."
Whispers spread quietly.
Yang Hui paid them no attention and led Bai Yue toward the innermost section of the hall. A narrow corridor extended inward, lined with sealed rooms on both sides. They walked straight to the room at the very end.
The space inside was simple and compact. Two sofas faced each other.
With a click, the lights turned on.
Resting on each sofa was a dark blue helmet, its surface smooth and metallic.
"This is a consciousness sensor helmet," Yang Hui explained. "Our scientists reverse-engineered it after excavating equipment from ancient civilization ruins. We can only replicate the sensor itself—the core device is still from the ruins."
"So this is how virtual space is accessed," Bai Yue murmured.
"Once you put it on, your consciousness will enter a fully simulated virtual space. One hundred percent realism."
Bai Yue lay back on the sofa and placed the helmet over his head.
The moment it activated, his vision dissolved.
Silvery-white light flooded his senses.
When his perception stabilized, Bai Yue found himself standing beneath an endless sky. A vast, metallic structure loomed before him, towering and solemn.
Yang Hui appeared beside him.
"This is the Trial Tower Space," Yang Hui said. "Students undergo assessments here. If you're interested, you can challenge it as well."
In this virtual environment, all physical attributes were standardized to Entry-level God of War.
They stood at the Trial Tower's entrance. To the left, a black pillar flickered, and glowing carvings surfaced:
Name: Bai YueGender: MaleIdentity: Training Camp InstructorTrial Tower Level: 1
Bai Yue glanced sideways.
Name: Yang HuiGender: MaleIdentity: God of WarTrial Tower Level: 3.2
"The Trial Tower has seven levels," Yang Hui explained. "So far, no one in the world has reached the seventh. Even the Head Curator has only reached the sixth."
Bai Yue lifted his head and looked up at the tower.
Without hesitation, he stepped forward.
The scenery shifted.
A boundless grassland stretched out in every direction.
A-Level Trial:
Kill 50 Savage Bulls within 30 minutes.
All targets: Entry-level Beast General.
Good luck.
The ground trembled.
Fifty Savage Bulls surged forward, their hooves pounding the earth like rolling thunder. If struck head-on, even a God of War would be crushed into pulp.
"One mistake, and it's death," Bai Yue thought calmly.
There was no fear in his eyes.
He lifted his alloy spear and charged.
The first bull was pierced cleanly through the skull. Blood sprayed as the massive body collapsed instantly. Without slowing, Bai Yue twisted his wrist and withdrew the spear, slipping past the falling corpse.
The herd did not falter.
They trampled their fallen companion and continued their charge.
Spear shadows flashed.
His movement technique was light and fluid, weaving through the herd like a butterfly dancing among flowers. Each thrust was precise and fatal. One bull after another fell, their massive bodies crashing to the ground.
Two minutes later, the grassland was silent.
Bai Yue stood atop a corpse. Not a single bull had touched him. His clothing remained neat and unmarked.
Time: 2 minutes 27 seconds
Result: 50 Savage Bulls eliminated
A-Level Trial: Passed
The electronic voice paused briefly.
B-Level Trial:
Kill 100 Savage Bulls within 30 minutes.
Targets: Entry-level Beast General.
Bai Yue continued upward.
The first three floors posed no challenge. It wasn't until the fourth level, during a B-level trial, that he finally fell—overwhelmed and torn apart by a monster after prolonged combat.
The world shifted.
Bai Yue reappeared at the Trial Tower entrance.
Yang Hui immediately turned to him. "How far?"
"Fourth level. B-level," Bai Yue replied honestly.
Yang Hui fell silent.
At that moment, he finally understood.
Why Bai Yue had been brought here directly as an instructor.
Why Hong had taken such an interest.
At this age, with such force-exertion mastery… it was terrifying.
The Elite Training Camp soon gained a new instructor.
Within days, most people knew of Bai Yue's arrival. Yet very few had actual contact with him. He kept an extremely low profile—cultivating in seclusion, leaving only to use specialized equipment, and never lingering unnecessarily.
Information about him spread rapidly among the major powers.
An eighteen-year-old with terrifying potential.
At minimum, a future invincible God of War.
Below the Councilors, a near-absolute powerhouse.
Attempts to win him over followed—both overt and covert.
Bai Yue declined them all.
Power struggles were meaningless to him. Cultivation was his only priority.
With Hong's clear favor, the higher-ups of the training camp provided him every convenience and quietly warned off any force considering improper methods. Gradually, the waves subsided, and Bai Yue's life returned to calm.
He cultivated without distraction.
Time slipped by unnoticed.
In the blink of an eye, half a year passed.
The training camp entered its holiday period. Most students returned home for the New Year. Only a handful remained.
Bai Yue was one of them.
Over these months, he had mastered a vast number of secret manuals—including the complete sets of World Annihilation and Nine Heavy Thunder Blade. One was chosen under Hong's guidance; the other he had purchased himself.
As his knowledge deepened, he noticed something interesting.
Most secret manuals shared common roots. Their differences lay in expression, not essence. The creators clearly belonged to the same circle, exchanging ideas and refining similar principles.
Learning new manuals now yielded diminishing returns.
Thus, Bai Yue shifted his focus.
From acquisition…
to synthesis.
