Chapter 11 - Chapter 10 - Mica

He'd quickly moved away from me after leaning in. Is this the feeling of rejection? No that can't be it, it's clear he wants me. Why does this hurt me so much? Maybe I just need one clear sign to tell me what this feeling is.

The next morning, the feeling of being well rested is what I needed but I never got it. At least I have FuXi's second presentation to look forward to.

I liked watching him work last night even if it was only for a few minutes, it made me feel at ease. It was therapeutic to watch how delicately he handled each piece of the jewellery. He'd even made a display box to put them in.

"Hey Mica! What happened to you? You're usually in the office way before me," Luca greeted, as I walked in.

"Morning Luca, I felt a bit restless last night," I told him, leaving out the details.

"Oh! What are you overthinking about this time? I've known you most of my life, so I can tell by the expression on your face."

"Well! I'm not sure how to explain it, but there is this feeling I have had for a few days now, possibly longer. It only happens when…" I paused.

"It only happens when … what?" Luca asked, as if the suspense was killing him.

"It only happens when FuXi is nearby and I've never felt this way about anyone before," I told him as confidently as I could.

"Well if he is a witch, as you say, he could have unknowingly cast a spell on you. It's likely that he may not know he is one yet or whether or not he has powers," Luca explained, painting a picture in my mind.

"Well I guess I need to have a talk with him about this situation," I suggested.

"That's entirely down to you Mica, but in my opinion I wouldn't recommend it just yet. Possibly wait until after the flame project has been launched," Luca advised. I nodded and waved my hand to dismiss him and just in time, FuXi knocked and walked in with his presentation box in hand.

"You see Luca, this is what I like about FuXi, he is always on task and working his hardest," I smiled and winked. Luca just rolled his eyes and walked out to go about his own work.

"Morning Mica, I'm glad you appreciate the work and effort that I am doing. I have tweaked my mock-up slightly so I hope you like them," FuXi explained as he set the box in front of me.

I looked at his designs again and I could see a subtle change to them, but when I opened that box I was in awe. The way it was laid out in that small box really brought the designs to life. The necklace was placed in the way it usually is forming a circle, the ring was upright in the middle just below the centre and slightly above that he placed the matching pair of earrings, two stunning studs. In a separate smaller box he had another pair of earrings that were mini loops in a spiral pattern.

He showed me a demo of how the ring worked and I was speechless, not once had it crossed my mind to design anything like this. The ring was made up of two rings. The main ring had the raindrop, then the second ring inserted in such a way where it interlocked with the other ring and the flame surrounded the raindrop. It's very cleverly done.

"You may have already figured this out, but this resembles the 2 become 1, the flame encasing the raindrop or teardrop if you like," FuXi explained, for a better understanding.

"Wow! FuXi! This is really amazing work. This is the reason why you have won so many competitions. Your creativeness is so out there. This design will definitely be a huge success," I told him with confidence.

"Thank you Mica, I'm really glad you like them," he responded.

"We are slightly ahead of schedule and it's rare we get to this stage so early, but I would like you to do one or maybe two more sets for me and possibly rethink the mini-loop," I told him and he nodded.

"I will Mica, the mini-loops was a last minute idea so I wasn't one hundred percent dead set on presenting it, but I'm glad I did," FuXi explained. I then dismissed him from my office and he went back down to get straight on it.

'He may be a witch, but he's a damn amazing designer and employee. Maybe male witches are different from female witches,' I thought.
