After Vicky got bitten, Caroline decided to stay at the Grill with Bonnie for some more time, and Bonnie said she would give her a lift. I decided to accompany Jeremy. Before Jeremy and Elena's parents passed away, Jeremy and I were best friends. So I know for a fact that Jeremy kind of likes Vicky. Even though we don't talk now, I still don't want Jeremy to be alone right now.
Caroline and Bonnie were sitting together.
Caroline: "how come the guys I want never want me"
Bonnie: "I'm not touching that."
Caroline: "I'm inappropriate. I always say the wrong thing and elena always says the right thing. She doesn't even try. And she is the one that everyone picks for everything. And I try so hard. But I'm never the one."
Bonnie: "it's not a competition, caroline."
Caroline: "yeah it is"
Then she sees a guy sitting in front of her, wearing a black leather jacket.
Jeremy let out an annoying sigh. He said in an annoyed tone, "what is it, forbes"
I said in an innocent tone, "what?" pretending not to understand anything. I know for a fact that after he started doing drugs, he doesn't like anyone anymore other than Vicky. And he probably dislikes me even. But still, I can't let my ex best friend be alone right now.
Jeremy let out a sigh. "ok, aaron. I've been trying to shoo you away for the past 5 minutes, but as someone who knows you very well, I know for a fact that you are a very stubborn dude. So if you are worried that I will do drugs, then no. For today, I won't touch any drugs. So please piss off."
I replied, "jeremy I'm not here because I'm scared that u will do drugs. I mean yeah, I wouldn't want that either, but I just don't wanna let u be alone. I know that u like Vicky. And I just don't want you to be alone right now."
Jeremy looked at me with confusion. "you know that I like Vicky?"
I replied with a nod, "yeah. We used to be best friends. I know everything about you even if u don't share anything with me anymore."
Jeremy looked like he was about to say something, but he stopped there.
He didn't say anything and also didn't stop me from sitting with him.
Some time passed, and I saw Jenna's car driving through.
"Well, looks like your aunt is here."
I saw Elena coming as well. Poor Elena… Jeremy ignores her like a plague.
I bid my goodbye to Jeremy. "well goodbye then."
I tried to leave because Jeremy probably felt a little better now and his aunt had come to pick him up. But Jeremy stopped me.
I looked at him with confusion. "umm.. what?"
I saw that Jenna had stopped her car in front of us.
Jeremy: "get in."
Aaron: "umm.. no it's ok."
Jeremy: "then are u planning to walk home this late?"
Jenna screamed at us through her car window.
Jenna: "Get in too, aaron."
Jeremy got in first and sat in the back seat, then Elena sat in the front seat. Realizing that I should probably get in too, I sat in the back seat with Jeremy.
Jeremy took out his headphones, wore them, and started ignoring us. Before their parents died, both Jeremy and Elena used to be social. Though Jeremy was always a little introverted, he still got along with other people.
As I was thinking about the past, my house came into view. Then the car stopped. I opened the door and got out.
Aaron: "thanks jenna for giving me a ride."
Jenna smiled and replied, "you are welcome too."
I then went home straight. My room was straight in front of Caroline's room. While I was on my way to my room, I heard noises coming from Caroline's room, realizing she had come home too. I knocked on her door.
Caroline opened the door.
Caroline said in a happy tone, "you are home now too?"
Aaron: "you look so happy. Did anything good happened?"
Caroline: "umm.. not really but I met a handsome boy at the grill."
Aaron: "woah. So what's his name."
Caroline: "I don't know."
Aaron: "umm. What? Then like does he goes to the same school with us?"
Caroline: "no. He is older."
Aaron: "damn. Mom will have a heart attack. Haha."
Caroline laughed with me.
I then yawned. Today was a tough day. Realizing I was sleepy, Caroline gave me a kiss on my cheek.
Caroline: "go to sleep, little brother."
Aaron: "ok bye, care bear."
After I went into my room, I laid straight down on my bed. Even though I was tired, my mind kept replaying the events of today. Lately, there had been a crazy number of animal attacks. I don't know when I fell asleep.
At night I had a dream . It's was very vague. In that dream I was walking home later at night when suddenly a man came to me. And....
Suddenly I woke up to my sister shouting my name.
"Aaron, aaron wake up. Or else we will get late."
I slowly got up from my bed and looked at the clock. It was actually late. I quickly got ready to leave. Wait.... what was I dreaming about again?
Caroline: "I'm confused. Are you psychic or clairvoyant?"
Bonnie: "technically my grams says that I'm a witch."
Aaron: "cool."
Bonnie: "i don't know if that's the word I'll use. Apparently my ancestors were really cool Salem witches or something. Grams tried to explain it but she was lopped on the liquor. So i tuned out."
Caroline: "feel free to conjure up the name and and the number of that guy from last night."
Bonnie: "I didn't see him, you did."
Aaron: "how does he even looks like."
Caroline: "tall, handsome, dashing and a little bit older."
Bonnie: "why didn't u talk to him?"
Aaron: "you didn't even talk to him?"
Caroline: "I don't know, i was drunk."
We laughed and went to our classes.
Some days later, we were all sitting at the Grill — me, Elena, Caroline, Matt, Tyler, Bonnie. Even Vicky had been discharged and started working.
We were all chit-chatting when Jeremy came over and asked if anyone had seen Vicky.
Jeremy: "hey has anyone seen Vicky?"
Tyler: "you are her stalker. You tell us."
Jeremy: "i can't find her."
Tyler: "probably found someone to party with. Sorry pill pusher. You were replaced."
Elena asked Tyler with confusion, "pill pusher?"
Tyler: "ask him."
Jeremy: "you wanna do this right now?"
Elena: "Jeremy are u dealing?"
Tyler: "she is never gonna go for u."
Jeremy: "she already did. Over and over and over again."
Tyler: "you slept with vicky Donovan? I mean vicky Donovan slept with you? There is no way."
Jeremy: "and I didn't even have to force her."
Matt butted in and asked Tyler what Jeremy was talking about.
Tyler: "nothing man. Ignore him. He's a punk."
Matt: "shut up and help me find my sister."
Bonnie: "I'll check the bathroom."
Matt: "I'll go and look for her outside."
Jeremy: "I'll go with u too."
Elena stopped Jeremy.
Elena: "Oh, no, no, no. You are coming with me. So that's your game now, dealing?"
Jeremy: "can't u and jenna stop"
Realizing Jeremy needed to get away from Elena, I butted in.
"umm elena. I will need help of jeremy. So I'm taking jeremy now."
I held his hand and pulled him away.
Aaron: "well I saved ur ass back there."
Jeremy rolled his eyes.
I tried to lighten the mood. "you know that dealing is illegal."
But Jeremy didn't pay attention and started walking away.
Aaron: "Jeremy stop."
He ignored me.
Aaron: "Jer."
Jeremy turned back.
Jeremy: "what?"
Aaron: "I'm sorry for whatever happened to you. No one deserves to go through this. And the pain of losing one's parents is intense, but what you are doing now is ruining ur life. Drug dealing? Seriously?"
Jeremy: "why do u care? Why does it matters to u?"
Aaron: "cause u are still my friend. And yeah i know u maybe don't consider me as ur friend anymore but still watching u ruin ur life makes me sad."
Jeremy didn't say anything else and just left.
I took a deep breath. I had wanted to say those words for a long time. Saying them finally felt good, but also tense — like maybe I had ruined our friendship even more.
I turned back and saw Matt and Vicky going together inside the Grill. I went in too.
Matt was patching Vicky's neck wound. I stood there in confusion. Vicky said she had accidentally ripped her bandage off.
Caroline was sitting a little distance away with Bonnie.
Caroline: "just so much drama. Ever notice how the druggies are the biggest attention whores?"
Bonnie: "yeah"
Stefan walked up to them.
Stefan: "excuse me. Hi. Have you guys seen elena?"
Bonnie: "i think she went home. But wait.. I'm gonna give u elena's cell number and her email. She is big on texting and u can tell her I said so."
When Bonnie gave Stefan Elena's info, their hands touched briefly and Bonnie zoned out.
I looked at Bonnie with confusion and tapped her.
"Bonnie?"
She snapped back.
Bonnie: "that was so rude of me.. I'm sorry excuse me."
She left.
Caroline: "yeah, she kind of wigs out. It's her thing."
Then I got a message from Jeremy.
"Jeremy: if u are free then meet me at the park."
I put my phone away and turned to Caroline.
"Caroline, I have some things to do tonight. Go home alone. I will go home later."
She nodded.
I left the Grill for the park.
Caroline was in the parking lot when she heard something. She turned around but saw nothing. When she turned back, she suddenly saw the guy from the Grill standing in front of her.
Damon: "sorry, didn't mean to scare you."
Caroline: "no, it's fine. I was hoping I'd see you again."
Damon: "i know."
Caroline: "cocky much?"
Damon: "very much"
I was sitting beside Jeremy in one of the secluded spots. It was the best spot for introverts. People couldn't see you immediately, and it used to be mine and Jeremy's hideout.
Jeremy was quiet, staring at the sky.
Aaron: "do you wanna talk?"
Jeremy: "why? getting bored? I thought u said you don't wanna let me be alone"
I looked at him. Did he call me late at night just to have company? I laughed.
"Gosh, I missed laughing like this."
Jeremy wasn't my best friend just because we had things in common, but because he could actually make me laugh.
I lay down on the grass.
"I missed this feeling."
Jeremy: "yeah whatever."
He started chewing gum.
Suddenly, a comet flew across the sky.
I screamed, "JER!"
Jeremy jumped. "my God, why are you screaming?"
Aaron: "it's a shooting star. Make a wish quickly"
Jeremy looked at me in disbelief, then slowly closed his eyes. After a moment, he opened them.
Aaron: "did u make a wish? Wanna tell me ur wish."
Jeremy: "F off"
We both burst out laughing.
