Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Dragon Rider Daenerys

March of 101 AC, early spring.

Dragonstone, Dragonstone Castle, Holy Flame Tower.

Daenerys Targaryen closed the book, 'Genealogy and History of the Main Noble Houses of the Seven Kingdoms,' she was reading.

Through the blooming potted plants on the windowsill, she gazed out at the vast, misty Narrow Sea, taking a deep breath of the spring air.

She was in a very good mood!

The Narrow Sea is the long, narrow ocean between the continent of Essos to the east and Westeros.

After three or four months of raging, it had finally entered a calm period.

Starting every October, the Narrow Sea would become wild and chaotic due to the cold winds from the Shivering Sea to the north.

It had swallowed countless ships and brave warriors who tried to conquer her.

Fortunately, Dragonstone had two volcanoes, one large and one small, so although the wind was strong, the temperature was still agreeable.

Especially within Dragonstone Castle, it was not too cold even in winter, and it was a rare place at the same latitude where tropical fruit trees could be grown.

Daenerys looked at the lush and abundant flowers and plants she had personally tended, and a strong sense of accomplishment welled up within her.

The reason these flowers and plants bloomed so vibrantly and fully was entirely due to the fertilizer Daenerys had meticulously prepared.

At the time, Daenerys had a professional habit from her previous life; seeing the mountains of dragon excrement piled up in Dragon Mountain, she suddenly had a whim to try composting it with volcanic ash to see the effect.

Once it was made, the results were unexpectedly good.

Whether it was the pasture grass on the slopes, the crops in the fields, or the fruit trees in the garden that had been fertilized, all grew well and their yields greatly increased.

It seems that things related to dragons are indeed extraordinary!

It had been eighteen years since she arrived in this world, and Daenerys had confirmed that she had transmigrated into the world of 'House of the Dragon' from the TV series.

As she grew older, some memories from her previous life gradually became clearer; this world was truly hard to describe!

In her previous life, as a recently graduated agricultural university postgraduate, she encountered a massive sandstorm while surveying a reforestation project in the desert and was buried in the yellow sand.

When she regained consciousness, she found herself having transmigrated to the early stages of the Dance of the Dragons in the world of 'A Song of Ice and Fire'.

She was born on a clear evening after a rain, and not only did several rainbows appear in the sky, but also countless auspicious clouds.

This led her to be immediately regarded as an auspicious omen for the kingdom.

Moreover, because she had a faint purplish-red flame pattern between her eyebrows, she was believed to be of extraordinary birth.

This caused Daenerys to receive many extra gifts on her naming day each year.

When she was four years old, Daenerys had her handmaidens secretly sell off all the flashy but useless items.

This added two large chests of golden dragons, totaling over fifty thousand, to Daenerys's small treasury.

Yet, despite it being a very secretive act, it wasn't long before her reputation as a money-grubber somehow spread throughout the Seven Kingdoms.

Because of this, those nobles, in order to curry favor or test Daenerys, would offer large sums of golden dragons every time they saw her.

Although they tried their best to control their expressions in front of a four or five-year-old child, Daenerys felt their acting was still a bit lacking, judging by their barely suppressed smiles!

If reputation could bring money, then let it come!

Daenerys was well aware that this was a world that completely adhered to the law of the jungle.

Money was almost omnipotent in this world, not to mention House Targaryen also had dragons.

Once she had enough money and sufficiently powerful dragons, Daenerys also wanted to try to realize her dream of becoming an empress!

But she also knew that this was the era with the most dragons for House Targaryen, and family members could become her greatest enemies at any time.

Although she had only roughly read the original novel, she had watched the TV series several times, so she was relatively familiar with the plot.

However, some changes had occurred.

For example, on the day of her birth, accompanied by a huge storm, Dragonstone underwent massive geological changes, and a huge island, more than ten times the size of Dragonstone, rose up to the northeast of the island.

This significantly increased the area and elevation of Dragonstone, and a huge active volcano also appeared on the island.

However, years later, the new island had fully recovered its vitality.

To gain more influence, Daenerys established a connection with her maternal grandmother Rhaena's former blue dragon Dreamfire at the age of seven and successfully rode her.

Dreamfire is the mother of Red Queen Meleys and Bloodworm Caraxes, and is currently the fourth largest dragon in size.

She is only smaller than Vhagar, Vermithrax, and the wild dragon Glutton.

When Daenerys bonded with Dreamfire, she was over fifty meters long; perhaps because she had been confined in the dragon pit for a long time, her growth had become very slow.

However, through Daenerys's years of careful feeding and training, she had resumed her rapid growth.

Her body length is now nearly seventy meters, and her wingspan is one hundred forty to one hundred fifty meters.

Her entire body is covered in deep blue scales (previously light blue), and the edges of her blue Dragon Wingss have silver-pink scales.

Barbs cover her from head to neck, and her three pairs of Dragon Horns are magnificent and imposing.

Notably, her unique large tail is also covered in bone spurs, with several massive hard plates at the tip.

According to Targaryen Family tradition, each child born into the family is given a companion Dragon Egg in their cradle.

Daenerys's was a white-pink Dragon Egg, but it had never hatched and was still kept in the room's charcoal stove, being warmed daily.

Previously, Daenerys had tried dripping blood and tears; she was just short of imitating the Dragon Mother by holding the Dragon Eggs and setting herself on fire, but she didn't dare.

Although Daenerys was indeed heat-resistant, being burned by fire was still very painful; it just didn't easily cause burns.

However, the flame mark between Daenerys's eyebrows seemed to make it easy for her to gain the goodwill of dragons in her dreams; she relied on this to easily establish a connection with Dreamfire and successfully ride her.

Daenerys's auspicious reputation and even more beautiful appearance made her niece Rhaenyra less inclined to interact with her from a young age.

Daenerys naturally couldn't be bothered to argue with a little brat; although Rhaenyra was indeed excellent, she was also very arrogant.

Because her maternal grandmother and mother had both passed away, she had always lived alone on Dragonstone.

Unlike Rhaenyra, who preferred to stay in King's Landing, Daenerys also preferred to stay on Dragonstone, as she simply couldn't get used to the smell of King's Landing.

After Daenerys successfully rode a dragon, her great-uncle King Jaehaerys enfeoffed the new island of Dragonstone to her, and the royal family even held a special celebration for her in King's Landing.

However, after Daenerys received the gifts from the various nobles, she immediately rode Dreamfire back to Dragonstone.

By this time, Daenerys's small treasury had increased to 255,508 golden dragons, 5,800 silver moons, 12,000 silver deers, 8,052 copper stars, and a quantity of copper pennies.

(1 golden dragon = 30 silver moons, 1 silver moon = 7 silver stags)

(1 silver deer = 7 copper stars, 1 copper star = 8 copper pennies)

Since arriving at Dragonstone, Daenerys's routine had been extremely regular.

She woke up at seven every day and washed up with the help of her handmaidens; breakfast was from seven-thirty to eight; the entire morning was then spent studying valyrian, court etiquette, and various ancient texts.

Lunch was at eleven, followed by a two-hour nap; in the afternoon, starting at one, she studied geography, history, and other subjects; dinner was at five, and then it was free time.

After dinner, Daenerys usually went to feed the dragons, chatted with her handmaidens, and did needlework or other feminine crafts.

Or she would tend to her flowers and plants, and feed her dogs; Daenerys kept four mastiffs in Dragonstone Castle, all very large and formidable.

After seeing the miraculous effect of dragon fertilizer on plants, Daenerys also prepared several "seasonings" to see what effect they would have on animals and humans, so she added some to her dogs' diets.

Fortunately, the experimental results were quite good; these four mastiffs indeed grew much faster and larger than dogs from the same litter, and were especially fierce and brave.

As adults, their size was more than twice that of other mastiffs, as large as half-grown calves.

They usually loved to follow Daenerys around, and even ordinary knights dared not approach them.

Moreover, they no longer feared dragons, often accompanying Daenerys to feed them, and would no longer be scared out of their wits.

Things produced by dragons truly had miraculous effects!
