Chapter 13
After closing the system, Ling Yu remained too excited to sleep. He tossed and turned in bed, unable to calm down.
In the end, he took out Kyōka Suigetsu, hugged the blade tightly to his chest, and only then drifted off—afraid that if he let go, he'd wake up to find it had all been a dream.
The next morning, for once, Ling Yu woke up early. He glanced at the clock—exactly six o'clock.
Two hours until class. He decided to make use of the time and headed to the underground training ground for intense sword practice.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Each swing of the blade cut through the air with sharp whistles echoing in the empty chamber.
Though he'd obtained the god-tier Zanpakutō Kyōka Suigetsu, Ling Yu refused to rely solely on its hypnosis ability and neglect actual swordsmanship.
He remembered Might Guy—how one kick nearly ended the entire Naruto story. Day after day of relentless taijutsu training pushed his body to the limit, letting him nearly kill the strongest shinobi of his era, Madara Uchiha.
To Ling Yu, swordsmanship was what he needed to train now. Kyōka Suigetsu would simply be another tool in his arsenal.
Because he needed to master the blade, he'd spent his remaining 1000 Exchange Points in the system shop earlier that morning, instantly raising his swordsmanship to Proficient level.
With only 1000 points, he couldn't afford high-level sword manuals from cultivation worlds—so for now, he focused on the basics: slashes, chops, thrusts, upward cuts.
That was enough. The Naruto world revolved around ninjutsu anyway; he didn't need to become a sword god.
Time passed quietly.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
The 7:30 alarm rang. Ling Yu finally stopped, wiping sweat from his face.
He could feel his growing familiarity with edged weapons and grinned in satisfaction.
"Blades and swords really are a man's romance."
Stowing the Zanpakutō, he left the training ground, showered, ate breakfast, and headed to school.
On the way, he spotted a familiar figure in the distance. His eyes brightened.
"Mikoto! Morning!"
Seeing the girl he met every day, Ling Yu called out with a warm smile.
"Morning, Ling Yu!"
Mikoto responded politely, smiling back.
"Come here—I've got something good to show you!"
He took her right hand and led her to a quiet, secluded corner, speaking in a mysterious tone.
Mikoto glanced at their joined hands, feeling the warmth from his palm. Her heart fluttered with quiet happiness.
"Close your eyes."
Once they reached the corner, Ling Yu released her hand and spoke softly.
Mikoto snapped back to reality, glancing around. The spot was unusually isolated—almost no one passed by. If anything happened here, no one would notice.
Then her mind flashed to the romance novels she'd been reading lately: the male lead pulls the female lead into a secluded corner, and then they…
Oh no! Oh no! Is Ling Yu going to… do that? But we're still so young—if that happens and I get pregnant, what then?! But if I refuse… will he be upset? Will he stop talking to me?
Inserting herself into the story as the heroine and Ling Yu as the hero, Mikoto's mind spiraled into chaos imagining what might come next.
Her small face flushed pink. She lowered her head shyly.
"L-Ling Yu… do we really have to do… that?"
"Hm? Do what?"
Her voice was so quiet Ling Yu could barely hear. He looked at her, puzzled.
"Ugh… never mind!"
Gathering courage, Mikoto took a small step forward, pressing closer to him. Then she suddenly lifted her head, squeezed her eyes shut tight.
The motion was so dramatic it startled Ling Yu. He realized Mikoto was acting differently today.
She'd always been gentle and quiet, but right now she seemed unusually pure and easily flustered—like a girl experiencing her first love.
First love…? Could it be…?
The realization hit him. To confirm, he studied her carefully.
She was still the same beautiful, adorable girl: delicate oval face, silky black hair, refined features, flawless porcelain skin.
But her eyelashes trembled slightly with closed eyes, as if nervous, and the blush on her cheeks refused to fade.
This version of Mikoto made Ling Yu even more certain: she was falling in love.
Combining the "study materials" he'd read online with their current situation, he understood—she'd completely misunderstood his intentions.
A mass of black lines appeared over his head in his mind. Sure, kids in the Naruto world matured early, but this early?
He did plan to slowly win Mikoto over as his future little wife, but that was about building feelings during childhood—not doing that kind of thing.
They were only six, after all. Way too soon.
Abandoning the surprise idea, Ling Yu summoned the Lucky Clover Necklace from the system and gently fastened it around Mikoto's slender, swan-like neck.
Once it was secure, he withdrew his hands, patted her head softly, and said:
"Okay, open your eyes."
"Hm?"
Mikoto opened her eyes, first touching her lips in confusion—finding nothing unusual. Then she turned to Ling Yu with a puzzled look.
"…Not a kiss?"
Ling Yu reached out and gently pinched her cheeks, sighing helplessly.
"A kiss? I just wanted to give you a necklace. What were you thinking?"
"A necklace?"
Mikoto reached up and felt the unexpected crystal pendant with the four-leaf clover inside. She let out a small gasp of surprise.
Then she realized she'd completely misunderstood. Her face turned bright red—like a fully ripened apple—adorably tempting.
"I… I… I wasn't thinking anything! N-nothing at all!"
Embarrassed beyond words, Mikoto stammered, hands nervously clasped behind her back as she turned her head away.
