Chapter 16 - part 15 : The law above love

Lorisson and his luna was staring at his son's conversation with a face filled with utter bewilderment. a son who says he does not need a Luna for himself is a completely unbelievable thing. Especially since the life of any wafewolf is rooted in their mate… Without them, they cannot find complete happiness or fulfillment in this life. And yet, how could his son view this matter in such a bizarre way?

"Devi.., your rule of the kingdom was never based on strength alone; rather, it was established through your laws as well."

Lorisson spoke like he was giving advice.

"I do not intend to entrust my laws to anyone else, Dad."

As he spoke with visible restlessness, a beautiful face flashed momentarily in his mind and faded away. He closed his eyes tightly and then opened them.

"You cannot rule this country alone. Have you forgotten all the laws? Devi, I don't understand your counsel. What exactly is your problem?"

Lorisson spoke with a touch of resentment.

"I still cannot accept many things that happened here once upon a time. If what happened then were to happen in my case as well..."

He stopped halfway through his reply. Both his parents' faces were once again clouded with disbelief and astonishment.

"Is this why you aren't searching for your mate with so much effort?"

Elisabeth asked.

"Certainly, that is also a reason..." he said.

"That doesn't have to happen, Devi," Lorisson said.

"If it does happen, Dad... if my Mate is a mere human woman, then would the position and the title of 'Alpha Aries David' that you adorn today truly belong to me? With my kingdom above everything else, I have no interest in chasing after such 'cheap sentiments'..."

He replied restlessly.

"While I have faith in your ability, intelligence, and strength, I cannot lose these blessings we have protected for years just because of your thoughts—thoughts that could make me, your Dad, and the Emperor position rooted in me, feel inadequate for even a moment, Devi..."

In that room, on a glass shelf situated to one side, there were two magnificent crowns..

Lorisson said this while pointing his hand towards that crowns.

"You are not the only one with a right to this; your Luna has a right to it too. Therefore, your current way of thinking has no place here. You must be here in this kingdom before the competition begins to select one of the five disciplined Alphas to grace the position of your Luna. Unfortunately, let us just pray that she is not a human..."

As he spoke those final words, a look of extreme cruelty flashed across his face and then vanished.

"If you are unable to find your mate within the time I have allowed, then someone from this kingdom, someone who excels in intelligence, strength, and beauty will have to be chosen as your Mate. Do not forget that the rules are always binding".

As he spoke, the son had nothing to say. He bowed his head, giving his word that he would obey those instructions, and then he stepped outside.

Even at that moment, it was only that innocent face that was clear in his mind. That face, which fascinated both his heart and his intellect equally, had crossed into his life like a recurring dream.

He let out a low growl of disappointment. Slowly, that disappointment began to transform into grief and pain, and changes began to occur within his body.

A change came over the structure of his legs and hands. His entire body became covered in fur. As a result of those changes, his face took on the form of a wolf. His limbs, moving forward, sprinted ahead like a beast. That journey ended among the massive rocks on the sea shore.

Standing there with his arms spread wide, looking at the moonlight, he let out a loud roar. His face looked pulled tight and distorted.

"Aami"

As she was walking toward her cabin in the hospital, Alex came running up from behind, out of breath, and reached her side.

"What is it, man??"

Aami asked in bewilderment.

"Got it, permission granted..."

As he spoke, holding up his phone to show her, Aami's eyes widened. She hurriedly took the phone from his hand and read it. They had been given exactly one week. With a smile of happiness, she handed the phone back to him.

"I didn't expect this..." Aami said.

"Me too... but my friend's cousin was working there. I managed to get it through him, but he told me to be very careful. Apparently, some strange things are happening there..."

Even though Alex said this, Aami didn't pay much attention. After talking a bit more about the trip, she went to her own cabin. It was a busy day. Although she thought about going home once everything was finished, a meeting had been arranged.

It was for their department only. The subject wasn't anything very serious. Someone is joining the same department starting next week. But it's not just for work; rather, it's part of a research project, and he needs help from the doctors in this department.

"Ok, agree..." If you say research, those who go after the great mystery of the human mind—which remains unsolved—are full of curiosity. We can know more from them.

The fact that more interesting things will happen is another matter. Aami's thoughts traveled that path.

When she returned home, her main work was a study about dreams. She tried to find meaning by interpreting dreams. Especially the dreams that Aami herself sees.

Everyone knows that a dream is a small moment between sleep and wakefulness. Dreams seen while sleeping are just the reaction of the subconscious mind. If that is the case, why does the subconscious mind keep bringing up the disappearance of a woman named Amelia, a subject she constantly thinks about even while awake, along with certain symbols?

Perhaps she is adding some thoughts to her mind herself. She tells herself that it is the meaning of each dream she sees. This is how she has been explaining this subject for many days.

But beyond that, she needs to know if there is any reality to it. Because these are not dreams that vanish the moment one wakes up. These are dreams that feel as if they are being lived and experienced. She needs to know if those dreams have any kind of connection to her own life...

Does she wish for such a connection to exist? Is that why she is wandering behind this one subject with so much intensity?

As Aami asked herself this, deep inside her, those blue eyes—the only clear part of an otherwise blurred face—continued to appear vividly...
