Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: A letter from the mother

After the harsh fight with the master, we were extremely exhausted. We spent a long time resting despite drinking magic potions. But that wasn't something I cared about, after all I learned a lot from that fight with the master.

Even though I managed to make a superficial wound on him, it was because he was holding back against us and he wasn't even using his sword. I should feel humiliated but no, although yes, a little. I already knew he was very powerful, although if it were another unknown person I would feel very, very humiliated.

Lilia had drained almost all her mana, and even though she drank potions she was still very tired, so I had to carry her on my back while we returned to the tavern.

Well, while we returned to the tavern we kept talking so the road didn't feel that long. People were staring at the master because his clothes had been burned during the fight, and they could see his strong physique. And so we arrived and entered.

"That old man is really strong."

"It's true."

Then we stayed upstairs in the room until night, because we had to go down to eat and like the previous nights we ate downstairs, since after that day we stayed up until dawn talking with the beastmen, we never ate upstairs again. The locals didn't bother us although the travelers that came sometimes did annoy us.

Sometimes I handled some of them, while the master left others half-dead when it was him. That's why the people who came to the tavern respected us, while those who didn't come didn't know much about us even if rumors spread.

We didn't really have people we could call friends except the beastmen I fought, since they were already kind with us and showed me more respect after I defeated them many times.

After eating, we returned to the room to rest. And so the next morning arrived, we went down like every morning, everything was a mess because of things that happened during the night, we also saw people sleeping on the tables and others on the floor.

I think everyone got drunk from drinking too much last night, we couldn't stand the smell either so we had to get out of there immediately. And so we could breathe fresh air and continued with our routine.

Train until exhaustion, rest, train again, rest again, improve my wind magic, kill hordes and hordes of monsters, and that every single day.

Six months had passed since I left the Palace and I had already learned a lot, much more than when I was in the Palace, even though I was still a child, but compared to when I was in the Palace I was no longer a normal child.

I also received a letter from my mother because mine had reached her. She told me she was happy that I was doing well although she also thought I could have lied about being fine, but that she was happy to hear news from me anyway.

She also said that my siblings were fine although my sister trained every single day without resting and that my brother had already gone to the academy since he had reached the age to go.

And that father also enjoyed good health. And that everything in the Palace was working well.

She also told me that I should take care of myself enough to not depend so much on the master and asked when we were going to return to the Palace.

I wrote in the letter that we didn't know when we would return, but that we would return safe and sound. And I also told her to take care as well, and everyone else too.

After that we sent the letter back to the Palace…
