Chapter 27 - BH COMPANY

The next day, Kwon Hyun Hyuk asked the director for leave in advance, and Park Jun-jung also drove to the set to pick him up.

After Park Jun-jung exchanged pleasantries with the director and others, he drove him directly to BH Company.

The address of BH Company is 142 Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam District. It is an unassuming four-story brick building. The full name of the company is displayed on the front of the first floor.

Most entertainment companies are like this; they can't compare to idol agencies, but compared to similar actor agencies, BH Company's building is already considered one of the best.

"Let's go. The CEO is waiting upstairs. I've already reviewed the contract for you. You just need to glance over it and sign it then."

Park Jun-jung had already arranged everything for him. Besides, Park Jun-jung was his uncle, so he would never trick him.

Kwon Hyun Hyuk nodded and followed Park Jun-jung into this top-tier actor agency, a place countless actors yearned for.

"The company has about seventy employees, a considerable number of whom are part of accompanying teams. There aren't many employees who work permanently at the company."

"Company artists usually don't come here often, as there isn't much reason for them to be at the company."

"The CEO is waiting for you in his office on the third floor."

"Today's main topic is signing the contract. You're so smart, so I won't tell you too much. You know how to handle it."

Park Jun-jung led Kwon Hyun Hyuk to the door of the CEO's office on the third floor, whispered a few words of instruction to him, then knocked on the door. After receiving a response, he immediately smiled and led him into the office.

"Hyuk is here."

Son Seok-woo smiled gently when he saw Park Jun-jung bringing Kwon Hyun Hyuk in.

The group sat down.

"I watched the new drama these past two days. The feedback is very good, especially for Kwon Hyun Hyuk. His acting skills have improved very quickly."

Son Seok-woo started with polite small talk to warm up the atmosphere.

However, what he said was actually true.

The acting skills of the new generation of Korean actors are currently terrible, with few outstanding ones. Overseas audiences watch dramas with filters, so they rarely complain, and some even mindlessly praise actors for their good acting.

But in reality, it's pretty much the same as the Chinese entertainment industry; few new-generation actors have outstanding acting skills.

The Korean entertainment industry itself has noticed this phenomenon, calling it a talent gap and fearing no successors for future Korean films.

Kwon Hyun Hyuk has strong hard conditions and sufficient soft skill talent, making it difficult for him not to stand out.

"The overseas reception is also very good, to be honest, it exceeded everyone's expectations."

Son Seok-woo said with a smile, then pretended to sigh, "This means I'll have to bleed money again."

This meant he was willing to sign him even if it meant offering more favorable terms.

"Yes, this drama was actually Kwon Hyun Hyuk's own idea. At the time, I suggested he start with small supporting roles in big productions, but he insisted on making this decision himself."

Park Jun-jung spoke up at the opportune moment.

To be honest, this achievement made him feel like he had misjudged, and he hadn't expected Kwon Hyun Hyuk's vision to be so precise.

Initially, when he saw the ratings, he was ready to scold him, but he didn't expect the later trend to be so surprising. It became popular without relying on ratings. According to the saying in 'cool novels,' he was slapped in the face after showing off.

"Really?"

Son Seok-woo looked at Kwon Hyun Hyuk beside him with a slight surprise, as Park Jun-jung didn't seem to be feigning it.

"That's right. At the time, I felt this role was very suitable for me, and I deduced there was a high probability it would achieve good results, so I took a gamble, thinking I was a newcomer anyway."

There was no need to be humble at this point. It was partly his own contribution, and he could use this opportunity to show that he was a person with his own opinions, ideas, and ability to choose scripts, which would give him more room to maneuver in the future.

Son Seok-woo indeed looked at him with renewed respect. He got straight to the point and began discussing business.

"Since we're all insiders, I won't elaborate further. I'll mainly discuss the contract terms and benefits with Kwon Hyun Hyuk."

Finally, the main event arrived.

Kwon Hyun Hyuk sat up straight, gathering his thoughts to listen carefully.

"The contract period is three years, with a signing bonus of one hundred million korean won. Within these three years, three to five drama or film resources will be arranged annually for selection."

"It can be confirmed that the resources will all be key prime-time dramas on cable television, and film resources will also be Chungmuro-based productions or key projects invested in by the company."

"After signing, if the initial response is good, the company will increase investment to customize exclusive productions or negotiate for major roles in key projects."

"As for profit sharing, it will follow the industry standard. The artist's team will also be arranged with members we can provide."

"Additionally, this is a future plan for Kwon Hyun Hyuk. You can take a look."

Why do people all want to sign with big companies? This seems quite clear.

The resources controlled by large companies are far beyond what small companies can rival, and their benefits in all aspects are superior to small companies. A very attractive point is that these large companies often have Chungmuro backgrounds, which can provide opportunities to break into Chungmuro.

What is Chungmuro?

Literally, it's a street, but practically, it refers to the Korean film industry. Currently, we can roughly understand that a Chungmuro actor is equal to or greater than a film actor.

Chungmuro is to Korea what Hollywood is to the United States.

Chungmuro is a very closed circle, naturally exclusive to outsiders. Resources only flow within it, somewhat like the Beijing or Shanghai circles in China, but far more extensive.

Some people say Chungmuro is declining, which is complete nonsense. The decline of film does not mean Chungmuro will decline. These people extend into all aspects of the film and television industry, symbolizing the best resources, always with limited external access.

The later popular squid game was a Chungmuro-based production; the director, lead actors, and so on were all from it, and the main actors were all related by interest. The later second season was also the same, all the same group of people, all related by interest, belonging to the same circle.

Kwon Hyun Hyuk took the document, quickly scanned the career plan made by the company, and then placed it on the table, no longer looking at it.

The terms were quite generous, covering all aspects, showing BH Company's full sincerity towards him.

"I have some of my own ideas."

There are not many young people who, in the face of such great benefits, still have their own ideas and remain neither humble nor arrogant. Son Seok-woo had already done his background check on Kwon Hyun Hyuk, knowing he was a highly intelligent talent and a top student, so he did not treat him like those ignorant young people.

"Actually, I think I should leverage my conditions. The korean wave path suits me very well; an acting-only path might not maximize my benefits."

"And, if possible, I want to prioritize appearing in OTT platform productions."

What is OTT? Simply understood, it refers to online streaming platforms like Netflix, Disney, etc.

This condition was somewhat unusual.
