Chapter 11 - Grandma Anger

The first person to react to Arvik's words was Grandmother.

She looked at him angrily and snapped,

"So you want us to organize a function just to introduce this girl to the entire family?

Have you completely lost your mind, Arvik?"

Hearing her words, Arvik looked at her with a confused expression.

"Dadi, why are you reacting like this?" he asked calmly.

"I only said that I want Anisha to meet the whole family. What's wrong with that?"

"She's my wife. She has every right to meet all the family members.

You're reacting as if I've said something outrageous."

Instead of calming down, Grandmother got even angrier.

She glared at him and asked sharply,

"Seriously, Arvik, don't you see anything wrong in what you're saying?"

Without waiting for his reply, she continued—forcing herself to stay calm.

"Listen carefully. You are the eldest son of this family.

You're not only respected within the family but also in society."

"Then why do you want to ruin your reputation—and the family's name—by doing this?"

Arvik didn't understand.

He was extremely intelligent, yet he couldn't grasp what Grandmother was trying to say.

Because till today, Grandmother had always supported him—whether she liked his decisions or not.

This was the first time she stood against him.

Arvik thought to himself,

I've never seen Dadi react like this before. Today, it feels like she'll do anything to stop this function.

She's saying the family's reputation will be affected—but how exactly?

Out of everyone present, only three people truly understood Grandmother's words:

Anisha, Janki, and Manju.

Anisha had already realized the truth the previous night.

Except for Mahi, no one in this family liked her.

In fact, everyone present was against Arvik's decision.

No one wanted a function to be organized for Anisha.

Even though they weren't saying anything out loud, their expressions made everything clear.

Anisha thought silently,

Arvik may not understand Dadi's meaning… but after meeting her, I understand exactly what she's trying to say.

Meanwhile, Janki smiled internally.

Wow, Mummy ji, you did amazing today.

You said exactly what I was about to tell Arvik—without me having to say a word.

Though inside she was happy, her face showed the complete opposite.

Anyone looking at her expressions would think she felt bad for Anisha.

Arvik finally spoke again, voicing his doubt.

"Dadi, why do you think organizing this function will damage our family's reputation?"

Grandmother had a short temper.

The moment she heard this, her face darkened with anger.

Looking straight at Arvik, she said firmly,

"Arvik, I know you've accepted this girl as your wife.

But understand this clearly—I do not consider her worthy of being this family's daughter-in-law."

"And I have never given her the status of bahu in this house."

"But why?" Arvik asked directly.

"Why don't you want to accept Anisha as your daughter-in-law?"

"Because she's illegitimate," Grandmother said coldly.

"And I, Suhasini Jindal, will never accept an illegitimate girl as the daughter-in-law of my family."

Arvik froze.

What she said was technically true—but in today's world, it shouldn't matter.

Yet he knew—if he argued now, it would only make things worse.

He didn't know how to calm her down and protect Anisha at the same time.

"Dadi," Arvik said gently, trying to reason with her,

"Even if Anisha is illegitimate, how is that her fault?

Why are you treating her this way?"

When Anisha heard this, she looked at Arvik with complex emotions.

In her eyes, he was a good man—but today, seeing him take a stand for her like this made him feel extraordinary.

No one had ever stood up for her like this before.

Naturally, her respect for Arvik grew even more.

Arvik had no idea she was looking at him that way.

Grandmother's eyes filled with emotion as she said,

"So now you'll go against your own grandmother… for a girl who came into your life yesterday?"

"I can't believe my grandson is fighting with me for an outsider."

She had run out of logic—

so she switched to emotional blackmail.

Watching this, Janki felt secretly satisfied.

Arvik fell silent.

He knew exactly what was happening.

If he continued insisting on the function, Grandmother would definitely get upset.

But he also couldn't imagine Anisha facing problems in the future.

For him, it was a no-win situation.

On one side—Anisha.

On the other—his grandmother.

He took a deep breath and was about to speak again—

When suddenly, Anisha held his hand.

Arvik looked at her, confused.

Why did she stop him?

Anisha spoke softly,

"Arvik, you don't need to argue with Dadi or anyone else for me."

"I understand her situation. She's scared that because of me, the family's reputation might get damaged."

"And honestly, that fear is understandable—because she doesn't know me… and I don't know her either."

"I think you should give your family some time."

Her words made Arvik think.

After a long pause, he exhaled deeply.

"Alright. I'll accept what you're saying."

Then he turned to Grandmother and said,

"Fine, Dadi. I won't organize any function right now."

"But I can't guarantee that I won't do it in the future."

With that, Arvik left for the office.

Soon, everyone else also went back to their rooms.
