Fuutarou was in the middle of his jogging session. With the improvement of his training routine, he was now running longer distances. Fuutarou didn't realize until Shinichiro pointed it out, that an elementary schooler running 30 kilometers without even slowing down once is a superhuman feat.
With Shinichiro's reminder, Fuutarou started realizing just how physically gifted he was. Lifting 50 kg wasn't a problem for him. He could do pull-ups without breaking a sweat, granted his body weight was on the light side but still, the action itself was very impressive.
Now with that in mind, Fuutarou couldn't help but push himself more. He wanted to see where his limits were, if he even had them that is. Besides his improvements in his physicality, he wasn't slowing down in his studies either.
Last midterm, Fuutarou managed to rank top 10 in his batch. Something that greatly surprised even himself, as he was sure he didn't perform that well in the exams. In the end he owed his performance to Takebayashi and Sanada who helped him with his studies.
He also gotten close with Yamagishi, the aspiring programmer friend of Sanada. The brown haired boy had managed to get Fuutarou interested in computers and coding. Ever the fast learner when learning something he was interested in, Fuutarou was well on his way to building his first website.
He actually had plans for his father's bakery business. Planning to create his website about his father's store. Fuutarou already created a social media account for his father's bakery, and it already gained his father more customers.
In actuality, his father's store wasn't a true bakery. It was more like a cafe plus bakery combo. All the more reason Fuutarou thinks his father's place can reach new heights. Number one, it's location is strategic. And number two, the cakes(all his father's original ideas) and the drinks are absolutely amazing.
Social media is great and all, but it's only the megaphone. In Fuutarou's mind, a website is the headquarters. It helps with pre-orders, turning impulse stress into planned spending. Plus, it has a lot of potential for the business.
Today it's dine-in and takeaway. Tomorrow it's workshops, baking classes, subscriptions, or wholesale supply. Who knows? Fuutarou hopes his idea can help his father, maybe with his job, and their combined, they could finally get rid of that burden of a debt.
'I just need to make some more finishing touches and do some testing before I'm good to go.' Fuutarou shook his head, focusing back to his run. The website can come later.
But then, Fuutarou felt something calling out to him. He stopped, narrowing his eyes. He didn't know how to explain, but his soul was reacting to something. And that thing was in a junkyard to his right.
"Oh why not right?" He grumbled as he entered the junkyard. As expected, the junkyard was full of junk. Fuutarou walked around, the weird feeling in his heart getting stronger as he walked in a certain direction.
Pushing a ton of junk away, Fuutarou looked at the object that was calling out to him.
"You gotta be kidding me....."
...
"So, you said you felt something calling out to you while you were on your daily running session. Then when you entered the junkyard, you found this katana?" Isanari questioned his son who nodded in response. They were having dinner when Fuutarou decided to break it to his father.
There was a pure white katana placed on the dining table. Raiha, unlike her brother and father, wasn't paying the strange object any mind, instead focusing on her more interesting coloring book.
"Yup, sounds unbelievable right?" Fuutarou muttered. Isanari sighed and looked at the blade. "Man, you got yourself a good one..." He commented, confusing Fuutarou. Isanari smirked at his son.
"It's about high time I tell you this anyway. This right here..." He pointed at the blade before continuing. "Isn't just any ordinary blade. It's one of the 21 Great Grade swords. Meaning that what you have here, is one of the finest blades in the world." Isanari grabbed the blade and unsheathed it.
"And that's not all, what you have here is Ame no Habakiri. If you claimed it had 'pulled' you. Then it means that it has chosen you to be its wielder." Fuutarou was baffled at his father's words. This whole conversation sounded like it should belong in an anime.
"Only you alone can bring out its full potential. I can wield it, but that's it, its full potential won't be brought out." The older man explained as he sheathed the blade.
"How do you know all of this?" Fuutarou asked. Isanari smiled, albeit sadly.
"Have you ever heard of the Black Dragon gang?" He asked his son. Fuutarou blinked.
"Yeah I have. Yamagishi, a friend of mine is an expert on this stuff, he shared a lot of the info with me. Apparently it's like the most dominant gang in the country, even the government can't do anything about them cuz they're scared of the gang so much. Wait...." Fuutarou widened his eyes, already guessing where this conversation is going.
"Dad... Don't tell me..." Isanari sighed a little.
"Yup, I used to be in the Black Dragon gang. Through some people in Japan's criminal underworld, I started learning the dark sides of the world, including information on these blades. Then eventually I was chosen as its leader for a while before I eventually passed the torch."
Absurd was the only thing Fuutarou could describe this situation. His father used to be an all powerful gangster in his youth? But now that he thought about it, his father does look like the type to join a gang. But being in a powerful gang like that, surely his father isn't entirely innocent as he is now.
"For the record, Black Dragon doesn't kill. If you go back to old newspapers, it actually says that we beat them up before calling the police to catch them. There has never been a case where a member of Black Dragon actually killed somebody, take it from someone who led it." Isanari grinned at his son.
"Who'd you even beat up?"
"Well definitely not old grannies crossing the street." His father scoffed. "We beat up drug lords, yakuza and pretty much every bad guy there is out there that thinks they can get away with their crimes."
"Oh...." Fuutarou didn't really know how to respond to this revelation. I mean, he was still stuck up on the discovery of the katana.
"I can assure you, son. I'm not returning to that life ever again. Now I just want to work hard and raise you and Raiha to be great people."
Fuutarou sighed. "I know, dad. It's just hard to process it." Isanari ruffled his son's hair a little, grinning all the while.
"By the way, keep the blade. I'll teach you how to wield it. I'm a pretty good swordsman myself ya know?"
"Who the hell am I going to use it on?" His son deadpanned at him. Isanari shrugged.
"I dunno. Better be safe than sorry right?"
"I seriously can't with you sometimes...."
To be continued....
