Chapter 15 - Training With The Protagonist (4)

After the main cast and I hung around on the street, we decided to treat ourselves to some food.

This was by far the best transmigration experience I had seen, and it was happening to me. So lucky.

I nodded several times, impressed by my luck. 'This just shows how much good karma I gathered in my past life.'

Raising my gaze, I met Jake's eyes. His cone of ice cream was inches from his lips. I looked around and saw Valentina and Quincy frozen as well.

"What?"

Quincy, who stood by my side, placed her hand on my forehead. "Al, are you alright? Did the awakening mess with your brain? You know one of my friend's fathers has a hospital. We can take you there, you know?"

I clenched my jaw, holding back the urge to smack her on the head. She was literally the most blunt person I had seen in this world. No, in two worlds actually.

"I'm alright, just in deep thought."

Jake let out a smile at my response before shoving the ice cream into his mouth. He was the tallest in our group, so naturally he stayed in the front while Valentina walked a little distance behind him.

"Hey Jake, where are we headed now?"

During the hour we were together, I was able to get closer to Jake. From small talk to buying things together while the girls chatted, he was honestly a pretty chill guy. But I didn't come here just to make a friend.

"Hm…" he pondered for a second. "Let's head to the cafe down the street."

"Cafe?"

He nodded. "There's something I wanted to tell my sister, but since you two are here, it's only right I fill you in too."

'Is it something about the awakening?'

Obviously it had to be about that. Since the novel never specified the date of the second awakening ceremony, I wasn't sure how long we had until then, but by my prediction it was two weeks to a month.

I placed a hand beneath my chin. 'After the awakening, then we would enter that world.'

That place was the main area where the first arc would take place, and the arc that would foreshadow most of the story.

Since I only read up to three hundred chapters out of one thousand plus, it was fair to say I had very little knowledge. But if I were to awaken a cheat skill and let the protagonist carry me while granting me some immortality-level plot armor, then I would surely survive most of the plot.

If I wanted to do that, I needed to hide as much of my ability as possible and let the protagonist shine. If I started taking all the attention, I would end up having to carry others too.

And I, Allen Park, don't do things for free.

I felt a faint nudge at my side and turned to face Quincy.

She seemed angry that the original Allen had locked himself in his room, and that when I finally awakened, I hadn't come to her first.

I had also learned that her raw and unfiltered way of speaking was how she showed she cared, though I still found it a bit strange.

All in all, what I had concluded since entering this world was… 'everyone here is a fucking psycho.'

My face fell to the side as I began reminiscing about my past. Even my old crewmates, who were a bunch of raging lunatics, weren't this crazy.

Valentina was as loud as a siren and didn't understand a thing about personal space. She spoke her mind and loved acting. No, it was more like her behavior was fixed on being adorable.

Jake Kim was nice to a fault and loved smiling. If this were some female dating sim, he would surely be the good wizard duke type whose points could be increased by being nice, intelligent, caring, and having a pleasant smile like his. He was literally a rollercoaster of flowers and rainbows.

Quincy, on the other hand, was strange. That was the word that described her best. She looked like the clingy type who loved attention but would never say it. She was also quiet and quite unfiltered when speaking. At the same time, she seemed like she would be insanely good at fighting and had conviction that reached the heavens.

Truthfully, I was the only normal one in the group. It had always been this way.

'Somehow this is making me feel depressed.'

I raised my gaze as the sound of a door chiming against a bell rang in my ears.

We were now in front of a small cafe. It didn't have many customers inside, but it looked very cozy.

"Here is the place, Allen," Jake said, pointing at the cafe. He suddenly lowered his voice as he continued. "We can plan inside here."

Quincy nodded several times innocently, like we were planning a heist.

I let out a sigh. "You guys can act normal, you know? We're just going to talk about the second awakening stuff."

Jake cleared his throat, a faint flush appearing on his cheeks. "I guess you're right. I was being childish."

Even though he said that, I could see he was clearly sad about being reprimanded.

'Such a big guy asking for validation.' I couldn't help but smile before lowering my voice to a whisper. "So what are you going to talk about?"

Jake's face brightened at my tone, and he answered in a hushed voice. "Yeah, I have big news."

Valentina looked at us, clearly confused. "What are you idiots doing?"

Both Jake and I cleared our throats. Now I was embarrassed too.

"Nothing, sis," he defended himself. "It was talk between adults, right Al?"

I nodded once. "Yeah, it's grown-up talk."

Valentina opened her mouth to yell at us, but the door of the cafe opened just in time. A young woman who was clearly blind stepped out, a rag in her hand.

"Jake, is that you?"

Jake's head snapped toward her and he offered a bow. "Yeah, I came to have some tea, Miss Aoki."

I didn't know why, but the moment her head turned toward me, I felt an incredible pressure weigh down on me.

This woman wasn't ordinary.
