I sat there lost in contemplation about where I was. Was this heaven? This was the only conclusion I could come to after a few minutes. It looked too nice to be hell, and I doubt hell would give you a false sense of hope....maybe. Then, as if struck by lightning, memories that weren't mine penetrated my brain, forcing their way through. It felt like my brain was growing in size, crashing against my skull. My fingers dug into the sheets of the bed, clenching them tightly.
After what felt like hours, the pain finally stopped, and I understood what was happening. As the driver said, I've been sent to another world. And in this new world, I am a prince, or more specifically, the 12th Prince of the Zempus royal family in the kingdom of Eternax, which is the biggest kingdom in this world!
"Alright, let's think about this situation calmly," I told myself. "So I am in another world, and I am a prince in the largest kingdom. That doesn't sound bad at first, but because I got these memories, the situation becomes bad."
The Kingdom of Eternax is the largest and most powerful kingdom in the world. However, this kingdom isn't the safest since it shares a border with the Demonic God's Ruin, where demons and monsters of every kind live. And since they share a border, the kingdom has to send thousands of soldiers to guard it, since the monster frequently attacks, trying to destroy the border walls that keep them out.
Now, being in the royal family, you would think I wouldn't have to worry about this, right? Well, you're wrong, in fact your so wrong that it's laughable. You see, the Zempus royal family is a family of power, meaning if they consider you useless, then your uselessand you will be taken care of, or more accurately, you'll be sent to the front lines and forced to defend yourself. One rule about the royal family is that when a prince or princess turns twelve years old, then that child starts training in swordplay, magic, survival, etc. And wouldn't you know, the 12th prince just turned twelve yesterday.
I took a deep breath and allowed myself to process everything. "I need to think logically here. Looking back at the memories, I don't have a bad reputation, nor am I hated. I am just a blank canvas, so that gives me a lot of room to mold my character into someone great."
Knock...Knock...Knock
Suddenly, there was a knock at my door. I froze instantly, my breath caught in my throat as if I was caught doing something I wasn't supposed to. I took a deep breath and tried to calm my racing mind.
"Come in," I spoke, my voice barely above a whisper. The door slowly crept open, and a young woman who looked to be in her mid-twenties stepped in. She wore a typical maid's dress with black stockings, her eyes a dazzling amber, and her hair as pitch-black as the night sky. She wore an emotionless expression, her eyes colder than the depths of the ocean.
"Good morning, Prince Alexander." She said her voice lacked emotion.
"Umm...morning," I said in a hurry, trying my best to sound and act as the real Prince Alexander would.
"I've come to get you ready. Its time for you to become a serving member of the royal family. The king sends his regards and hopes you won't be a disappointment." She said.
I nodded slowly, not knowing what I was supposed to do. The next thing I knew I she was bathing me and then dressing me. I wore a black uniform with black pants, a golden belt with gems I had never seen, tightly wrapped around my waist, and on my feet, a simple black boot.
'I honestly thought she was going to dress me up in fancy clothing, that people in my world think royalty wear, but this is fine too.' I looked at myself in the mirror as my thoughts wandered.
"Please follow me, your highness." She said, then turned around and walked out of the room. I chased after her into a hall of luxury. The walls were filled with many portraits of different people in fancy clothing, looking as though they had never known happiness. Some were wearing crowns made of diamonds and gems embroidered into them.
Before long, we were in front of a large wooden door, which felt out of place considering most things in this place seemed to be golden. She placed a hand on the door and pushed it open. I took a step inside, but there was no light; the room was pitch black. Before I could turn around and ask if there was a source of light in this room, the door slammed behind me. However, I could feel the woman next to me, and then I heard a clapping sound and the whole room sunddely lite up.
Little particles of light floated upwards as if there were millions of fireflies where fying around us and illuminating the room. The room was empty; it had stone floors and walls, and there were shelves everywhere with thousands of books on them. However, it looked very old, and if one were to look closer, it looked as if it hadn't been used for years; there were cobwebs on the side of the ways, and the shelves themselves were filled with dust.
However, the strangest thing was a tiny column in the center of the room. It was pure white with black write ingraved on every side of it. And on top of the column was a floating blue orb that seemed to be releasing a strange energy.
I turned to Mari, confused. Oh, right, if I haven't mentioned this already, this is my maid or caretaker, Mari. She has been taking care of this body, or now me, for as long as I can remember. I believe she is twenty-five.
Mari walked forward and stood next to the column. "This is Origin Stone, a tool used to identify what magic is best suited for a person. All you have to do is place your hand on it and let the energy enter your body, and then that will allow you to start training your mana."
I continued to look at the stone in awe as Mari continued to speak. The only thing on my mind was 'Magic'! This thing could allow me to use mana, which could then allow me to be able to use magic. In that moment, I thought of all the magical shows I've watched and all the ways they've used magic, and my heart beat quickened. I was excited!
Slowly, I took a step forward, then another until I reached the stone. I stared at it for what felt like hours, my heart still beating against my chest. I felt my mouth curve upwards as I stared, and slowly I reached my hand out.
