On the inside of the temple, I was able to notice that the interior of the temple was made out of black marble. It was all designed block by block making it clear how well the Darvians were at designing very detailed architecture.
The single hall that I had to pass through was wine enough for about four people to walk signed by signed, and there were archways every thirty feet. Hanging from each of the archways I saw statues of different types of demons.
" Is it not amazing how detailed these different pieces of architecture are? Just think about all of the hours that were put into designing these and choosing what type of material that was going to be used. In the end, I wish that we would not have to fight them at all. We could both learn a lot from each other as separate species that would coexist". Sophitia said to me with a sparkle , in her eyes , that made it clear that she was very passionate and adamant about what she just said.
"All I am is that I live and get paid to exterminate them, so why would I even think about wanting to be civil with them? I mean, after all, they were the ones who originally attacked us after the first portal was accidentally activated. The way that I look at it is that when I exterminate them I am doing it for both the sake of my people as well as revenge for their past errors against us." I said very confidently to her.
Sophitia clearly looked like she was not happy with what I had said, but she did not make it vocally known.
When I made it to the end of the hallway , I saw a massive pair of double tours that were made of a white metal , as opposed to the black marble that the rest of the temple was made of.
"Let's just get started on this. I want to defeat the boss on the other side of the store so that I can go home." I said as I graham my sniper rifle from my back, and start it push the door open.
"Yes let's get this done. I have a lot of plans that I will have to take care of now that my life has changed forever.
I chose to because I moved to focus on the battle that was about to begin. If I was to find out whatever it was that Sophitia just said about the life changing, i would be doing it after this battle with the Pain Mages would be complete.
Then both Sophitia and I pushed the door open and made our way into the next room.
The inside of the room was made mostly of the same black marble as the rest of the building except for the floor which was made of white marble. There was a column that was made of the white marble every ten feet or so, and each of the columns and a metal torch that was lit by a blue flame.
The final thing that I saw was a match metal thrown that was black instead of white which made it stand out. On the thorne I saw a tall black skin demon that was wearing red mage robes.
"So my new toys have come here. I have truly grown bord of the human who is foolish enough to be close to portal when it opened. You may have this human. She no longer amuses me, and she no longer serves a purpose.
I now want you two". The pain mage said as I saw them get off of the throne and throw a human that was previously behind them onto the floor in front of me.
Sophitia ran over to where the body where the Pain Mage threw it. Then as she did that I made my way to the Pain Mage with my sniper rifle put back on my back and pulled out my combat knife ready to strike the Pain Mage and end this.
"She is still alive, but I do not know for how long". Sophitia said to me as she rose from the body and got her energy rifle ready. "We need to finish this quickly if we're going to save her."
"You will try, but that is going to be harder than you think. You see that I have gained enough power through all of the pain and agony that you have caused the Agony Hounds and Lava Toads that came with me. Due to twelve , all of his pain that you inflicted , I have only growing stronger." The Pain Mage said as he stood in front of me started to draw a magical circle in the air in front of him.
I rushed at him knowing that if I gave him time to complete the circle that he would most likely bring something through the I would not want to have to fight.
As I rushed at him and took a strike at his right wrist so that I could slow down the casting of the circle I felt pain like no other inflicted upon myself. This pain caused me to fall on my back and roll over as I screamed in pain.
"You see human, whenever you strike at me you are actually hurting yourself. This is why only the strong can defeat a Pain Mage, and I highly doubt that you have the strength required to do such a task without possibly killing yourself." he said in a laughing tone as he kneeled down and spit in my face.
"That will not stop me because there has to be either a limit to the pain that you can convert, or a week spot where it does not apply." I heard Sophitia say as she shot a quick burst of her energy bullets at the left left leg of the Pain Mage.
As I rose to my feet, I saw that Sophitia fell back over onto her back and began to roll over in pain.
"Your screen is bringing me pleasure and power. In only a few more screens I will be finished with drawing my magic circle. When that is complete your fate will be sealed."
This meant that I would have to finish this in a single shot. If I killed him a single shot to the head using my sniper rifle , he would not be able to read direct pain since he would be dead.
I then went to the very back of the room, and proned myself on the floor so that might passive ability activate when I look through the scope.
As I prepared to take my shot and look through the scope.I saw that there was only one area that seemed to be glowing blue.
The area that was glowing was the red gem that was on the top of his head.
So I took my shot, and as the bullet made contact with the gem on his forehead it shattered into a dozen pieces. As the red gem shattered he began to screen and pay and agony, but I did not feel any pain myself.
When he vanished from our site since that was the killing blow , I walked over to where the skillbook that was remaining in his place which was now lying on the floor.
I made my way over to my book and found that the title of it read Consitrated Phase Beam.
" Hey , I think the skill book that we just got might hurt really well for you. I will take it and we can decide what to do with it after we take our third human to the hospital for Gilded Vanguard when we get back."
We carried her out of the portal, and then we rushed over to the section of the city that was reserved for people of our profession.
When we made it to the hospital, there was a gurney stretched out waiting for its next patient.
"We will take good care of her". The nurses said as they check her from our arms.
Would this female that we had rescued google to survive, or would I have made it to her too slowly?
