Leo gave a small, calm smile.
"I'm afraid Arjun Mehta couldn't make it today."
Mia stood immediately.
"You need to leave."
"I just want five minutes."
"No."
She pressed the emergency bell on her desk.
Within seconds, two hospital security guards entered.
Before either of them could speak...
Leo simply looked toward the door.
No words.
Just one silent glance.
His bodyguards stepped forward.
Calm.
Professional.
Without creating a scene, they quietly blocked the entrance, making it clear no one would interfere.
The room fell silent.
Leo looked back at Mia.
"I didn't come here to threaten you."
"I only want answers."
Mia slowly dismissed the guards with a trembling hand.
"It's okay."
Reluctantly, they left the room.
Only silence remained.
Leo pulled a chair closer but didn't sit.
"I'll ask a few questions."
"If you're honest..."
"I'll leave."
Mia took a slow breath.
"Fine."
"What do you want to know?"
Leo studied her carefully.
"What exactly do you do?"
"I'm a doctor."
"I already know that."
"I work here."
"This hospital belongs to my family."
Leo nodded.
Then came the question that had haunted him for days.
"Have we met before?"
Mia's fingers tightened beneath the desk.
"No."
"You've never seen me?"
"No."
"You've never spoken to me?"
"No."
"You don't know anything about me?"
"No."
Every answer came instantly.
Too instantly.
Leo noticed.
Yet strangely...
He didn't push further.
Because something inside him kept whispering...
She's lying for a reason.
Not to deceive me...
To protect something.
After a long silence, Mia finally spoke.
"If that's all..."
"Please leave."
"And don't come here again."
Leo looked at her quietly.
"If you don't know me..."
"Why are you so afraid of me?"
Her heartbeat skipped.
He's noticed...
Of course he noticed.
She forced herself to stay calm.
"I have connections too, Mr. Kane."
His eyebrows lifted slightly.
"My family owns Acharya Multi-specialty Hospital."
"We're among the wealthiest families in the city."
"I know exactly who you are."
"The Mafia King."
"I know you're dangerous."
"And I don't want any connection with someone whose world is filled with violence."
Her voice softened.
"So please..."
"Leave my world."
"For both our sakes."
Leo remained silent.
There was no fear in her eyes.
Only pain.
A pain he couldn't understand.
He slowly turned toward the door.
Before leaving, he paused.
"Everything you said makes sense."
He looked back at her one last time.
"Except one thing."
"My instincts."
"They've never been wrong."
"And they keep telling me..."
"There's something you're not telling me."
His gaze lingered for just a second longer.
"I'll find out what it is."
Then he walked away.
The door closed quietly behind him.
Mia stood frozen until his footsteps disappeared.
Only then did her legs give way.
She sank into her chair, covering her face as tears rolled silently down her cheeks.
"I'm sorry..."
"I still love you."
"I never stopped."
"But now... I'm not only protecting myself."
She wiped her tears and looked at the small photo kept inside her drawer.
A smiling little boy.
Mayank.
"My son..."
"I can't risk losing you."
"Not even for the man I love."
Outside the hospital, Leo entered his car.
Mark glanced at him through the rear-view mirror.
"Sir?"
Leo looked back at the hospital building.
"She answered every question."
He paused.
"But none of her answers felt true."
His eyes narrowed slightly.
"Continue the investigation."
"I want to know..."
"What she's protecting."
