Ren caught the shocked and confused expression on Zuran's face before he brushed his hands away and sat up. "I'm fine..."
"Don't do that. You'll kill yourself," Zuran said to him.
"Isn't that what you want?" Ren joked with a smile as he turned his gaze back to the old woman, who remained unconscious. The young lady still stood nearby, staring anxiously, while the crowd awaited some kind of response.
Ren didn't know what to say. Even his blood hadn't worked, so he couldn't think of any way to save her now.
"Let me try giving her my blood! You can buy me sweets in return," Ce'ran offered.
"No. You certainly can't," Ren said firmly. There was no way he was going to ask the beast babies to do anything like that!
Just then, someone from the back of the crowd announced, "The Great Mage is in town!"
"Really?! That's amazing! Let's go meet him with our prayer requests!"
"Hey kid! You should take your grandmother to him too! Maybe he'll do something! He always has a solution!"
