"Cute," Ren thought as he accepted the candy stick. "You didn't have to do that. I wasn't mad at you..."
You possibly couldn't tell a kid you were mad at them in a situation like that.
"Have you forgiven me now? Will you keep treating me to sweet treats?" Ce'ran asked enthusiastically.
Ren smiled as he placed a hand on her head, gently running his fingers through her furry white hair and ears. "Don't worry. I'll still give you sweets. But you'll have to behave better if you want them. You can't just eat anything and cause trouble."
Ce'ran beamed. "Sure! I won't do it again! Yay!" She hugged Ren happily, and he patted her on the head.
Zuran stood off to the side. He remembered Ce'ran coming up to him earlier, asking for help buying sweets for Ren. She had pestered him until they stepped aside to pick out the candy stick she wanted to give him.
And now, watching her hand it over to Ren, Zuran found himself smiling without even realizing it. It was a genuinely wholesome scene.
