Zuran was quiet. The room felt hazy for a second as thoughts engulfed him. He managed to keep his calm while he cleared his throat. "There's nothing. I'm fine... I'm okay... there's nothing wrong..."
He turned to face Ren. "I was just trying to protect you from those men. They didn't look friendly at all. So let's stay away... and live peacefully..."
Ren met his eyes. He could tell Zuran was lying—he just had that feeling. But he was going to let it slide. Or at least act like he would, so Zuran wouldn't suspect that he was suspicious.
He casually smiled. "Is that so? I hope so, then. Don't forget to let me know about any troubles you have, okay?"
Zuran hesitated and then nodded. "Sure."
"Okay, then!" Ren said as he lay down in bed, folding his arms. "I'm so exhausted after a long day! I should get some rest."
He looked at Zuran. "You should also get some. Come and sleep here." He patted the spot beside him. "Right beside me."
