Chapter 5 - Chapter 5- Suspicious Allies

By the third day, the whispers changed. It was none other than Human whispers which were Hushed, but the moment I entered the class, the Whispers just stopped

I reminded myself that this is just grief, and my classmates just showed Sympathy

But deep down, I knew better

While I was sitting in the college library reading a law book, Elara, the most quiet and silent of girls, approached me and sat beside me like we were best friends.

"Celestia, you should not wander alone on the college campus at night!" She said softly, too softly, "Bad things hide in the corners."

Before I could ask what she meant, she simply took her book and left but she didn't know that her words confused me

And there was the Star athlete and Heartthrob everyone adored. And after class, he cornered me

That pendant belonged to Aurora, right?" He asked as he glanced at the chain around my neck

"How did you know?" I asked shocked

But dude only smiled faintly and walked, leaving me with questions and no answers

That night, as I was feeling restless, I began to wander again. The university was silent, and the corridors were empty. I finally came to a dead end. I thought of turning back and heading back to my room when I heard s faint chanting

Feelings curious and bold- I followed the sound, which led to a deserted Chapel underneath the main building

What I saw shocked me

A group of students I counted, and all 6 of them stood in a circle, the Candles were flickering, and their heads were bowed as they chanted something.

In the middle of the circle, there was this black book, and the symbols I saw looked identical to the pendant around my neck

"Elara," I whispered, recognizing her among the group, and there was Marcus too, and I heard their chants

"We must protect her."

"Her blood brings him back to power."

"He must be sealed for an eternity."

I felt my chest tighten. "Who's he?"

The Pendant around my neck began to turn warm as if it could understand the words

I took a step backward, my heart was beating fast, and when the candles flickered and went out, the chanting stopped.

As if sensing someone, they all turned at once, and eyes gleamed

I ran out

The sound of my footsteps echoed as I ran as fast as I could. I swore that I would never look behind until I reach my room

I slammed the door shut, breathing heavily. I tried to convince myself that everything is my imagination

I went to the washroom to wash my face when I saw it

Across the mirror surface, a bit of fog had bloomed, and something was written

"The more you try to run from us, you can't escape no matter what they do to protect you. You can never escape."
