I sat in my office. In the past, every time I used to be in this office, all I felt was despair. It always saddened me, remembering how my life used to be before. But now, I have hope that things will go back to how they once were.
I tapped something on my work computer. Suddenly, my phone rang. I saw it was an unknown number. I hesitated, but I still picked it up—because not everyone knows my number, which meant it could be someone I knew.
"Hello," I said in a curious voice, trying to figure out who it was.
(From the other side): "How are you, Payu?"
Payu: "Umm… who?"
(From the other side): "I can't believe you actually forgot about me."
Payu: "Wait, who are you?"
(From the other side): "Well, it can't be helped. Anyway, we'll meet in the near future. So keep guessing who I am."
[Call ends]
What the fu#k? Who was that? Could be a spam call. Ugh, whatever. I can't waste my time thinking about this. I blocked the number, assuming it was spam, and went back to work.
I was still working at my company. All my employees had already left. After my parents passed away, I started working double shifts to turn my luck around.
As I was working, I received a call from Tyler.
I picked it up. "Hello."
Tyler: "I'm right outside your company. Are you done with work?"
Payu: "No. I'm working late."
Tyler: "Can I come inside?"
Payu: "Why? You can go home. I have my own car too—I can drive myself."
Tyler: "It's okay. I'll tell the driver to pick up your car. Let me take you home tonight. Also, we have to go shopping tomorrow to buy new suits for our upcoming business party. As you know, many high-class people will be there."
I remembered the party. I used to go there when I was little. After becoming an adult, this would be my first time. Not only successful businessmen, but also many powerful figures gathered there. I really should go.
Payu: "Okay, but I have some work to finish. I can't leave my office before that."
Tyler: "Fine. I'll wait."
I looked at the clock. It was 10 o'clock. Three hours had passed since our phone call. I hurried outside to see if Tyler was still there. Part of me thought he wouldn't be.
But when I got outside, I saw Tyler's car. I looked through the window and saw Tyler asleep in the driver's seat. I felt a little bad.
I tapped on the car window. "Tyler?"
Tyler slowly opened his eyes. "Payu… is your work done?"
"Yes."
I sat inside the car, and Tyler started driving.
During the whole ride, Tyler kept talking, but at some point, I fell asleep from exhaustion. In the past, I used to sleep in my office. But now, I had a home to go to.
I didn't realize when we arrived. When I opened my eyes again, I found myself in Tyler's arms. He was in my bedroom, walking toward the bed to lay me down. When he realized I had woken up, he started fumbling.
Tyler: "I'm sorry if I woke you. I was trying to put you on your bed so you wouldn't feel uncomfortable."
Payu: "It's okay. Put me down."
Tyler gently placed me on the bed.
Payu: "You know… you could sleep in my bed tonight too."
Tyler: "W-what?"
But before I could even reply, I fell asleep again. I had always been a heavy sleeper.
Tyler and I were in the VIP room of the shop.
I was choosing suits for both Tyler and myself. As I went through the clothes, a memory crossed my mind—how our relationship was when we were little. We used to visit each other's houses, play dress-up, and I would always pick his clothes.
As I browsed, I saw a white suit. Instantly, I knew it would be perfect for him. I picked it up and turned to Tyler.
"Tyler, this suit is for you. Go try it."
Tyler got up and went into the trial room. When he came out wearing the suit, my heart skipped a beat. Even the employees couldn't take their eyes off him.
Tyler looked at me. "How do I look?"
I didn't say anything at first—just stared at him. Then I replied, "You look absolutely beautiful."
Tyler smiled. "Really? Then I'll take this one."
Later, Tyler also helped me choose a suit. Mine was black. When we finished and were about to leave, a man suddenly bumped into me.
I looked up—and saw Aiden Miller.
My ex.
