Chapter 4 - History of the world

Alex checked his energy requirements.

[Cultivation Base: 50000/80000]

He would need another cosmic crystal to start his passive cultivation again.

But he felt that he was already plenty strong right now, so he should first learn how to control his strength with one hundred percent accuracy.

He heard a knock on the door.

"Young master, open the door. Breakfast is ready."

His mother had sent food to his room.

She also knew that not everyone in the family liked her son.

Alex opened the door and then went to the washroom to freshen up.

After coming back, he ate the meal with great enthusiasm.

His body needed more energy right now and he could not absorb energy from the environment, so he had to rely on food.

The maid saw how fast Alex was eating.

It could not even be called eating anymore, he was devouring the food.

Within minutes, he finished everything.

"Can you bring five portions of meals as large as this?" he asked with an embarrassed tone.

"Yes, young master. We will bring the food right now."

They were happy to see this.

Alex needed energy right now, and if he could eat this much, it meant his body was catching up after two years of energy loss.

After the two of them left, he planned that he would go to the library and spend the day there learning everything about this world, its power system, its techniques and martial arts.

He always liked to read books.

Even when he did not have money, he would work in an old bookshop in exchange for three hours of reading a day.

Soon the maids, Rena and Lina, came to his room with four trays of food in their both hands.

Alex was surprised to see how easily they could balance the trays without any unnecessary movement.

"They are also skilled martial artists I guess."

Alex ate the food as fast as before.

After eating, he went to the library with the maids.

The library of the Aurelion family was huge.

There were hundreds of thousands of books inside.

Alex picked some books according to his needs and sat in a corner to start reading.

He spent five hours in the library.

Now that he was a level five cultivator, his memory and reading speed were enhanced.

So in five hours, he had read all the books he selected.

Rena then came to remind him that he needed to eat lunch.

"You go and prepare the meal in my room. Prepare a large meal like the morning. Thanks."

Rena left the library while Lina waited outside.

After thirty more minutes, Alex put the books back in their places and came out.

"Let's go."

He had learned everything these books could offer about the world.

Though he had memories about it, they had not been satisfactory.

Five hundred thirty four years ago, the sky opened with a huge crack and dark energy entered the world.

Under its influence, the planet became thousands of times larger than before.

It had once been like a parallel Earth.

The apocalypse did not end there.

All the animals on Earth started to mutate except humans.

Even mythical monsters like dragons, phoenixes, godzilla, titans and many more poured in from the crack.

In just ten hours, eighty percent of humanity vanished.

The remaining twenty percent were waiting for their death.

But at that moment, a pillar of light came down from the sky and a huge light domain formed.

All the humans were teleported inside the light domain.

The domain was as large as one hundred Earths of its previous size, but it was still only one percent of the current planet.

The remaining ninety nine percent was wrapped in darkness where monstrosities roamed.

The pillar had not been a normal one.

It was the Tower of Ascension.

Humans who turned fifteen could climb the tower to awaken their talents.

From there, martial artists appeared for the first time.

The tower had a universal cultivation technique written on it.

The era of martial artists began that moment.

After five hundred years of development, humanity was now strong enough to fight even those mythical monsters, but the world still remained under a veil of darkness.

That was why everyone lived inside the light domain.

There were five continents.

In these five hundred years, Earth now had over twenty billion people living in the light domain and only around one hundred million could become martial artists.

And the martial artists were the rulers of the light domain. Unawakened people were like commoners, who didn't have much right to talk about their rights.

Alex sighed.

"This world is brutal. Even in a crisis, humanity still has that insatiable greed."

While thinking, he and Lina arrived near his room.

Alex entered, took a shower, and started eating.

He had also read about martial arts, especially techniques that could develop mental strength and control power.

He found that there was a meditation technique that could help develop mental strength and control strength.

He exactly needed that right now, and he had a powerful mom.

So he decided to ask for her help.

After finishing his meal, Alex went directly to his mother's room.

"Mom, can I come in?"

"Come in."

Alex entered.

His mother was writing something.

"Have you eaten your lunch, son?" she asked gently.

"Yes, mom. Have you?" Alex asked back.

Elizabeth smiled lightly.

"Martial artists at my level do not need to eat anymore. Anyway, do you need something?"

Alex's eyes widened.

His mother did not need to eat anymore.

How powerful was she?

Alex coughed a bit.

"Mom, I want a meditation technique. Can you find one for me?"

Elizabeth instantly took out a scroll from her storage ring.

"Here you go. It will help you build mental strength and also allow you to control your power in the future."

"Mom, can you read minds?" Alex asked suspiciously.

Elizabeth laughed loudly.

"What do you think?" she asked teasingly.

"Never mind. I will go back."

Alex ran out of the room.

Elizabeth just shook her head with a smile after he left and continued writing.

She was creating a martial art.

This was how martial arts were created in the past five hundred years.

Everyone contributed to the world.

Alex went to his room and began reading the scroll immediately.

The technique was called Spirit Art, a very simple name yet terrifyingly powerful.

It could help someone develop their mental strength if they could complete the entire breathing cycle ten times a day.

Alex closed his eyes and began breathing accordingly.

The moment he finished the first cycle, his entire body started sweating.

All his orifices released sweat.

His muscles constricted and relaxed on their own.

Pain surged through his whole body.

Alex gritted his teeth.

He knew the technique was working.

Six hours later.

Alex was panting crazily.

He had completed the tenth cycle with great difficulty.

Even with thirteen thousand kilograms of strength in his body, he felt he did not have a single ounce left.

As soon as his body touched the soft mattress, he fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning.

He felt extremely hungry and woke up from the bed.

He had not eaten dinner last night.

Alex wanted to know if his body had undergone any changes.

[Strength: 13000 kg

Speed: 40 m/s

Defense: 13000 kg

Spirit: 10 kg]

"Wow. A new attribute appeared in my panel. This meditation technique is really awesome."

Alex became happy instantly.

The torture from last night had been worth it.

"Lina, bring me food. I am hungry."

Alex ordered them to bring food into his room.

After ten minutes, a lot of food appeared in his room.

Alex ate and then started meditating again.

His plan for the next ten days was only meditation.

Nothing else.

He would try to complete more than ten cycles today.

With this, ten days passed.
