Chapter Six: (An Unexpected Event)
Enrio explained the plan to Chengji: "The plan is as follows: first, achieve financial independence through small projects or a job; second, strengthen ourselves to become soldiers in this kingdom; third, use the years before turning ten to prepare for all the important matters."
Chengji asked, "And what are these preparations?"
Enrio replied, "To gain a good reputation, set up a small project in the orphanage, and sell groceries to the children."
Chengji added, "Alright… I forgot to tell you that the orphanage director gives money to children who complete many tasks."
Enrio smiled, "That's good news. We'll save that money to set up the project. Come on, let's go to sleep."
They woke up early, being the first in the room. They went to the backyard to breathe in some fresh morning air. Silence lingered, but a strange tension crept through the corners of the yard, as if unseen eyes were watching them.
Suddenly, two figures in black cloaks appeared by the backyard bench.
Enrio said calmly, "Chengji… be careful. Don't do anything reckless."
One of them stepped forward, asking, "Who is Enrio?"
Enrio replied firmly, "I am Enrio. What do you want?"
The other lifted his head, voice cold: "I am the leader. I wanted to ask… have you seen the murdered child?"
Enrio answered, "Yes."
The leader said angrily, "You fool, you suspected me, yet I did not hire anyone to kill a child here."
Enrio explained, "I reported the murder without knowing who you were. That proves I didn't lie about you."
The leader smirked and commanded his companion, "Kill them… this will be your first mission."
The other person replied, "Yes, leader."
He unleashed his dark brown Riza at Enrio and Chengji, who stood ready to defend themselves.
Before the attack could hit, Reigen emerged from the shadows, firing his orange Riza to block it. "I knew you'd come here, so I sent the soldiers away and came secretly," he said.
Enrio, shocked, exclaimed, "Reigen!"
Reigen fired a second orange Riza and grabbed the person by the neck. "I'll let you live, but you'll go to jail, scoundrel."
The man gasped, "Please… I'm suffocating!"
Reigen released him slightly but kept him restrained. He looked at Enrio and said, "Don't tell anyone about this. Even if the leader hadn't fled, you wouldn't have caught him alone."
Enrio replied, "We'll tell the orphanage director."
Reigen nodded, "Alright."
They informed the orphanage director, who said, "Fine, we must tighten security even more."
Enrio asked, "Okay… tell us today's tasks."
The director listed all the tasks, and together they completed them.
Four years passed. Enrio and Chengji had become well-liked in the orphanage and succeeded in their project. They trained their bodies daily, growing stronger and more capable. But this was only the easy part of Enrio's plan; the challenges ahead were far greater.
That night, lying on their adjacent beds:
Enrio said, "We've gained a good reputation, have money, and our physical strength is solid for our age. But the obstacle now is finding a suitable job, and we don't know if the director will approve our request to leave."
Chengji replied, "We'll tell him we want to leave and go once we find a proper job and place to stay."
Enrio nodded, "Okay… let's sleep and wake up early to visit his office."
They woke up immediately and went to the director's office.
Chengji said, "We want to leave the orphanage. We'll leave immediately once we find a suitable job and a place to stay."
The director looked at them in silence, his eyes deep in thought, and then said: …....
