Chapter 30 - Second Evaluation

Ding!

[Herald with serial number 95.111 had returned to the Infinity Room.]

The evaluation process began.

Gabriel sat leaning against the dark brick wall, his body pressed lightly to the floor. His expression was calm, filled with satisfaction after the battle.

A soft white light from the recovery facility bathed him, gradually restoring his stamina and even his Mana flow.

"Fyuuh~" Gabriel exhaled lightly. "Fighting Dante was satisfying… but exhausting too, thanks to my reckless use of all 50 Units and Mana Zone…"

With his left hand, he reached into the inner pocket of his trench coat and pulled out a pale white-horned beetle.

It wasn't just any beetle. It nearly contained all the information in the world of Black Clover.

Gabriel smiled faintly. "From now on, your name is Beatle Mark Zero."

In the next instant, the Grimoire's digital pages flipped on their own, selecting the spell Haniel Umgestaltung des Leerenlichts.

Immediately, a zero appeared on the small beetle's back, like a glowing tattoo marking its new identity.

Gabriel glanced at the screen displaying the notification—his half-lidded eyes now radiating focus and quiet satisfaction.

Seeing the Evaluation Results: S, Gabriel let out a faint sigh. From the start, he had never intended to complete all the Main Missions.

"No wonder," he muttered softly. "I never intended to complete all the missions from the start anyway."

He glanced back at the holographic screen, then let a faint, crooked smile appear.

"But… an S Evaluation, huh?"

His attention then shifted to another blinking notification—two Secret Missions he had accidentally completed.

Ding!

A new holographic screen appeared before him, displaying the details of each mission one by one.

Gabriel read them carefully, his left eyebrow rising slowly.

"So…" he murmured, half surprised, half amused, "teaching Asta techniques from another reality and fighting one member of the Dark Triad… counts as Secret Missions?"

His gaze dropped to the rewards section.

"Golden Apple… and a Random Box Item."

He paused for a moment, then let out a small sigh that almost sounded like a chuckle.

"Interesting," he murmured softly. "What I thought was just a cool move… ended up triggering Secret Missions."

A faint, calm smile curved at the corner of his lips—quiet, confident.

As he focused, Gabriel opened the details for the two items he had obtained.

After reading the explanations of both items, Gabriel fell silent, staring at the Golden Apple resting in the palm of his hand.

"So… the Golden Apple grants one hundred free Attribute Points," he murmured to himself. "Interesting. Alright, I'll use it now. As for distribution… that can wait."

Without hesitation, Gabriel bit into the golden apple.

His eyes widened slightly.

The apple was juicy, crisp, and sweet—an almost impossible flavor, as if he had just tasted the very concept of the perfect apple. Every bite felt warm, alive, and utterly satisfying.

In his field of vision, system notifications chimed softly with each bite, indicating the accumulation of Attribute Points in real time.

Moments later, the Golden Apple was gone.

"Hmm," Gabriel murmured, licking the tip of his finger. "That… was extraordinary."

He then shifted his attention to the next item.

"Alright," he continued casually, "time to open the Random Box Item."

With a slight command from his mind, the miniature box sprang open.

In an instant, a blinding white light erupted before him, forming a small orb that floated calmly in the air. The glow slowly descended, settling onto Gabriel's palm, then dimmed.

Its true form was revealed.

A card—roughly the size of a playing card, or perhaps a tarot card—worn brown in color. Its back was decorated with an intricate, foreign pattern, unlike anything familiar.

On the front, a humanoid figure with bestial features stood in an unnatural pose.

Gabriel's eyes widened as he held the card.

Not because of its design.

But because Gigan could see it far too clearly.

The card was enveloped in a dark-leaning blue energy, flowing slowly like the very breath of life, subtly distorting the reality around it, as if space itself hesitated to remain stable in its presence.

Deep within the card, Gabriel saw something.

A woman.

She sat silently atop a throne shrouded in darkness, as if in a deep, endless sleep. Her skin was pale, almost flawless, standing in stark contrast to the shadows surrounding her.

Her silver hair shimmered softly, falling straight down her back, framing her face with a neat, blunt fringe—giving her an aura of serenity, yet untouchable.

The gown she wore was layered and intricate; a fusion of fantasy and gothic fashion, with a palette of black, deep blue, and bright white that seemed to resist being fully swallowed by the surrounding darkness.

Gabriel fell silent, a faint blush coloring his face, his heartbeat quickening slightly.

"…She's beautiful," he murmured softly.

But after a brief pause, his voice grew even quieter, almost inaudible.

"Could it… really be her?"

There was a strange sense of familiarity, far beyond mere visual recognition. It was as if he had seen this girl before, or understood the meaning of this card's existence, even before its name or description was revealed.

He narrowed his focus.

To confirm his suspicion, Gabriel summoned the system interface. With a single, deliberate thought, the item's explanation panel unfolded before him.

Ding!

"Heh."

After reading the item's description, Gabriel let out a faint chuckle. Slowly, a subtle smirk formed across his face—Ash's persona beginning to stir, mingling lightly with his calm awareness.

For a moment, a flurry of ideas crossed his mind—impossible applications, dangerous scenarios, and… intriguing possibilities. Yet he held them back.

Not now.

After all, he was currently holding the Job of a Mage in the world of Black Clover. With the laws of reality being so different, the card could not be used.

To wield the card's power, Gabriel understood clearly—he would need to become a Magus from the card's original reality.

Type-Moon.

The realization did not disappoint him. On the contrary.

"Someday, I'll find a way," he murmured softly, certain.

Gabriel closed the description screen of the Class Card. He lifted the card slightly, then pressed it gently to his lips.

"I'll protect you," he whispered in his heart. "No matter what happens. That's my promise."

But the moment his lips left the surface of the card, Gabriel's face flushed bright red, like a ripe tomato.

"...!"

Within seconds, he dropped to a crouch, curling in on himself and clutching his head, as if he had just realized the enormity of the transgression he'd committed.

"Argh…!!!" he groaned softly.

It wasn't the promise he had made that embarrassed him.

Rather, for someone with Gigan—someone who could perceive the true existence behind any entity—kissing the card… was, in effect, the same as kissing a real girl.
