Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Going out

The next morning, Cedric decided to venture out to the city and look around. As he walked out of the gates, the sight of the city which he only saw behind a screen, amazed him. He, of course did not go alone. The knight captain, Ron, and a few knights stood near him.

Ron was a decently powerful character in the game. Ranking very high as a character loved by players and on strength. while playing as Cedric, he was the best means to deter enemies from attacking the city and expand the territory. He had a scar on his cheek that he gained from fighting monsters lurking in the forest.

"My Lord, you should've told me beforehand about going out."

"Sure, but it was important to see the city, I want to look around the city, every part top to bottom"

While conversing, Cedric mentally noted the city around him. The city was quite large, larger than at the start of the Game, he estimates around twenty thousand people living in the city. Across the street though, medieval sanitation makes breathing feel suffocating. The wretched smell puts him off

The sanitation seriously needs an update later, its way too repulsive to live like this, and the diseases will absolutely ravage the city.

After walking for a while, they made it to main market in the city. People kept away from Cedric and his group as they made it inside. The market was open and had many good being sold. From food to gemstones, the market was flourishing.

Cedric found this sight as being perfect, the territory was not facing issues with commerce. He continued on to the other parts of the city, heading towards the blacksmith shop. He passed by a well and saw a woman working hard pulling up the water in a bucket. He found the situation awful as modern person who had access to water from the tap. He quickened his pace, resolving himself to improve this as fast as possible.

Turning the corner, he finally found the blacksmith shop. It looked exactly like in the game, smoke billowing from the chimney, the blacksmiths, both human and dwarves working together forging tools on the side of the building, while the main building contained the shop selling their wares.

When Borin saw the sight of the lord and knights coming towards his shop, he nearly lost it. He quickly ran to greet his lord, lest be charged for a crime against nobility.

"M-m-my lord, what brings you here to my humble shop."

"I came because I want something built, can you do it?"

Cedric looked at the dwarf ahead of him with awe. He knew there were other races in the world, but this was the first time he saw them.

"If my lord wants anything done, your humble servant Borin shall have it done! No one in this city can match my craft."

Borin pushed his chest out looking very proud of his work.

Cedric handed over the blueprint to the dwarf to look at it.

"Can this be done?"

Borin looked it over in amazement. He never saw drawings and plans done so clearly and with purpose.

"My lord, where did you get this, I have never seen such plans! And-and, this pitcher pump is ingenious! I never thought of it before. With this getting water will be very easy, and we could place it in farms and the city!"

Cedric awkwardly looked at him.

"Ahem, I made them myself actually"

Borin's eyes grew wide at the response.

"My lord, this is amazing!"

"Can you build it?"

"Yes my lord, I'll have it done in three days, no, one day!"

"Alright, I'll leave you to it then and come back later."

Cedric turned around and began to walk towards the farmland with his knights in tow"

Ron got quite curious about what his lord told the dwarf to build and asked Cedric.

"My lord, what exactly did you give him to make him so excited? He usually never becomes that happy."

"You see, it's a tool that will completely change how we get water! No longer shall the women toil near the wells dragging up buckets full of water to bring to their family. Now they can place their buckets down and easily get water.

Ron looked at Cedric with awe in his face. His lord was practically talking about something that was impossible.

"My lord that's amazing! If such a thing can be built, the people of the territory will be forever grateful to you!"

"I don't need gratitude, I just want to improve their lives..."

And to survive the upcoming storm.

After looking around the city more, Cedric decided to go out to the farmlands and check out the situation there.

At the same time, small movements that could shape the nation were occurring in the Royal capital.
