Chapter 7 - Mountain King

A long stretch of constant walking, Sunny was already used to it. But with his current body, it doesn't seem as adept to this kind of torture. He felt younger, more slender, with grey hair.

"wait, I'm a gir-!" he screamed at the realization. Yet it was immediately met with a loud crashing sound from behind the group.

The knight immediately took action, the slave cravan was put aside to avoid casualties.

"We'll hold it off, manage the slaves! lets regroup after" The knight commanded his cohort and the handler, then faced the threat.

A huge monster with several arms and eyes. The caravan was filled with chains meant to handle more slaves when needed, yet this threat was large enough to push the whole caravan with it's charge alone.

It was, The Mountain King.

Sunny was then put aside with the other slaves and the caravan near a cliff. Seeing the huge monster, he sees multiple glimmer from within clearly different, tainted.

"A nightmare creature...!" it was his first time seeing one. With his life already being brutal, seing an actual monster from hell made him truly realize his mortality.

After comprehending his situation. He is now aware his sister is still safe as long as he survives.

The burning desire to conquer this hell was already feirce, now his desire to live fortified his desire.

The handler huried, managing the slaves he shouted.

"Move! dont just stand there! We are already close to the top. Just watch as they handl-"

Biten by something, he was dragged to the ground by huge larvae, it's mouth filled with pointed knives.

The knight and the guards was flooded with larvae monsters, dividing their focus.

"Ahhgg!"

As the larvea who munch the handler chewed him alive, the eloquent man took the keys of the handler and unlocked their chains.

With each person he unlocked half of the slaves was eaten by the incoming group of larvae. Managing to unlock only two slaves.

Sunny and the boy are now freed. Before they could flee, one of the guards who tortured Sunny was waiting.

"This is your fault isn't it?"

Staring at Sunny, he deduced the eloquent man who helped Sunny escape should be delt first, he immediately strike the eloquent man with his spear yet was immediately stopped by a chain pinning him to the ground by the two young slaves.

The man quickly pulled himself up and targeted Sunny, the source of his rage. The boy who also held the chain wrapped it to his neck.

Crashing to the ground, the guard slowly lost his consciousness. The boy hesitated at the thought of murder but Sunny was already blinded by his desire.

He held on, despite the lack of strength he twisted the chain making harder and harder to untangle, yet the guard continues to strike his wounded eye. Each strike made it bleed uncontrollably, until he manage to grab hold of Sunny's head trying to scrape his eye.

The eloquent man immediately grab hold of the guard preventing him from truly killing Sunny.

'You have obtained a memory, silver bell'

Despite the bleeding from being hit, the wound quickly dried. It was too unnatural to even make sense.

"The Knight...?" Sunny thought of the Knight as the cloth came from him.

As he observe the chaos looking for the Knight, the guards are quickly dwindling, despite their weapons clearly being enchanted it doesn't seems to be a type memory.

Memories, stuff that the awakened summond from within yet these enchanted weapons are mundane in nature. His observations, trying to understand how the guards can help dealing with a huge nightmare creatures and the larvea.

Stories of the Awakened has been extremely known to the world, It would've been rare for someone not to know about the spell and what it gave to the awakened.

"We can't really leave in the middle of a mountain this big, with how many monsters there are. We are luck to stumble with one or two on our way down, now after all these noise." The eloquent man spoke.

"I don't wanna die!" The boy's trembling tone was heard yet none replied, they all know life expectancy just became shorter for them.

Sunny moving closer to the fight, obseving something peculiar.

'It reacts to sound?' Sunny wondered, seeing each ringing of steel the mountain king doesn't seem to strike randomly. If it had vision it wouldn't need to follow the sound and strike.

"vision..."

The boy hears Sunny, staring at him suspiciously. After his brutal act of killing the guard, Sunny felt more different than before.

"Are you crazy?" The eloquent man also had the same thought as the boy.

Being accustomed to not listening Sunny charges forward, each step burned with exhaustion, strength was painfully lacking from his hands yet he grab the chains from within the caravan.

"We need the Knight! So help me push this chains as much as you can!"

'That slave is really crazy' the two slaves thought the same again, unaware of his plans.

The Knight isn't aware of the blindness, being the only capable awakened due to the handler being useless his attention is now highly divided.

With such a loud noise coming from the chains, the mountain king charges toward the caravan. The knight realize what must be done.

"Push the caravan to the cliff!" The remaining guards and the two slave worked together.

Despite the Creature being faster, the knight was closer to the caravan especially the guards. Grabing the chains, he wrapped it around it's leg, even distracting it for a few moments. He secured the chains with three locks he found nearby.

Then, with a kick from the Knight the caravan fell pulling the mountain king down to hell, but not without casualties what remains of the guards was pulled away.

The two slaves, remained unharmed as they where too late to help.

The roaring slowly fading aways down in abyss.

"Its gone." relief coming from the boy

"No." Both Sunny and the knight spoke, they knew mundane methods doesn't mostly work on a nightmare creature.

The group of larvae without the mountain king are easily bypassed but going back isn't an option anymore.

The four remaining moved away, going straight to the top where a bridge is located, crossing the mountain was their only hope.

Sunny checked the memory he gained, it was something about a home.

'The guard must've been devastated to not be able to return home, losing the caravan of slaves might very well punish him.' Sunny pities the guard, knowing how much the guard loved his family Sunny would also be the same.
