Chapter 12 - The golem boss

Sato rested for a while, waiting for his wounds to heal again. Then, once he regained his strength, he slowly continued walking. As he walked, he came across a large door. The door had intricate patterns carved into it.

Is this the exit? he thought.

He slowly pushed the door. For some reason, despite its massive size, the door was surprisingly light. It opened easily. When he stepped inside, he found himself in a huge room. Some kind of stones on the ceiling illuminated the entire hall. The room was enormous, and on the far side, another large door was visible.

So this must be the exit, Sato said to himself.

But for some reason, the large pile of stones in the center of the room felt strange to him.

Maybe it's because I've been walking too much here, Sato thought.

As he walked a little further, the door he had entered suddenly closed. Then the stones in the center of the room began to move. Sato immediately grabbed his sword. The stones gathered together, forming a massive, monstrous creature. Above it hovered the text:

[Stone Golem – Mini Boss – Level 42]

The creature was at least the size of a six-story building.

Golem? Damn it, what the hell is this now? Sato said to himself.

But the Golem didn't wait. It attacked Sato. Its enormous hand—capable of lifting at least one school bus—came crashing toward him. Sato easily dodged the strike. But the impact kicked up a huge cloud of dust and debris.

Even though its attack was very slow, the range was massive. I have to be careful, Sato said.

Then the second hand attacked. Sato dodged it and cut off two of its fingers. But the Golem tried to grab him with its other hand. It failed. However, at that moment, the stones that had fallen when its finger was severed returned to the Golem itself. As if it was healing itself.

Not only is it huge, it has this ability too, Sato said. Then an idea came to his mind.

When the Golem's attack came toward him, he dodged the strike and tried to cut off its palm using Mana Blade. The first hand was severed. Then the second one.

Seeing this, the Golem suddenly attacked. It lifted one foot and slammed it into the ground so hard that the floor shattered into pieces, creating a massive shockwave. Sato barely dodged the flying stones from the impact and managed to stay on his feet after the wave. By this time, the Golem had completely regenerated both hands. Now the Golem began moving around instead of staying in one place and attacking. Because the hall was so large, the Golem could move freely despite its size. Because of Sato's speed, the Golem couldn't get a good grip on him. But the Golem's attacks covered a large area, causing Sato a lot of trouble. Then Sato tried to attack its leg. While running toward the Golem's feet, the Golem lifted one foot high and slammed it down hard, just like before. This time, Sato had managed to cling to its other leg. Then he completely cut off the Golem's leg from the middle. The Golem lost its balance and fell to the ground. The shockwave after its fall was also very strong. Sato didn't just wait. He activated Mana Blade and stabbed the sword from below, dragging it upward toward its head. The Golem's chest took massive damage. At one point, Sato saw a huge orb inside the Golem's chest. Sato

What is this? he thought, but he couldn't dodge the Golem's strike in time.

He was hit by the Golem's enormous hand, flying a considerable distance and rolling a bit. Sato struggled to get up. When he looked, the Golem had also stood up and was regenerating the wounds on its chest again.

Sato realized that must be its weak point.

So I need to hit that spot, he thought to himself.

At that moment, the small stones around the room began to tremble.

"Damn it… what is it doing now?" he muttered.

Suddenly, the small stones gathered together, forming about twenty smaller golems that looked exactly like the big one—but only slightly taller than Sato.

"Damn it… it just summoned its minions," Sato said.

But when he looked closely, the orb in the chest of these smaller golems was more exposed, their defense seemed weaker.

I think I should kill these first, he decided.

He attacked.

Using Single Slash and Mana Blade, he easily took down four of the small golems.

But as soon as they fell, new ones began forming in their place.

Meanwhile, the big Golem was preparing a massive attack. Several stones around the room floated into the air. Then they all shot toward Sato at once.

Sato barely dodged the barrage of stones. But the small golems also joined the assault. They were relatively faster. Between the flying stones and the small golems, Sato was struggling to evade.

At one point, a direct hit struck his face.

He fell to the ground.

As he tried to stand, a stone crashed into his side. It shattered, and a sharp fragment pierced his stomach.

Sato screamed in pain.

He struggled to get to a more open space.

But the small golems began using the same attack as the big one—lifting their feet high and slamming them into the ground, creating shockwaves.

Sato barely dodged the waves, barely staying on his feet.

Finally, he managed to get a little distance from the small golems.

"Damn it… they're too dangerous. Their numbers are overwhelming. This is too hard," Sato said, breathing heavily.

Then he attacked again—combining Mana Blade and Single Slash. One after another. He didn't stop striking and destroying the golems.

But they kept regenerating. New ones replaced the fallen.

Sato began to tire. His breathing became labored.

"Damn it… their numbers don't end. At this rate, I can't win. I need to attack the big one. But they won't let me through," he said to himself.

At that moment, the system window appeared.

[Congratulations! You have defeated 43x Mini Stone Golem (Level 30-32).]

Sato's eyes widened.

"What? How?" he thought. "They're just copies of the big Golem… isn't it the one creating them?"

Then something clicked.

Both the big Golem and these small ones have some kind of stone in their chest. That must be the mana stone. When the big one created these pawns, it must have used its own mana. Besides, each small Golem has its own mana stone. Even if it's the boss, it shouldn't be able to create this many golems. That means…

The system window appeared again.
