Back in Zaya's new world, Sienna and her were getting ready to go to the village to buy her some clothes.
"Zaya, come here. I've filled the tub with warm water, so that you can wash up", Sienna said.
"Coming", said Zaya. She walked into the bathroom, which was fill of steam. Sienna gestured her over to the tub fill over water.
"You can take your clothes off, I'll help you wash up", Sienna said, while sitting down on a stool next to the tub.
Sienna took off the dirty rags she had been wearing and put her foot in the water to feel the temperature. It felt so nice and warm to the touch, that she stepped in completely.
"Sit down. You can soak in the water", Sienna said while seeing the dirt in Zaya's hair and on her body.
As Zaya turned to sit in the tub, Sienna could see scar marks across her back that seemed to have come from a long time ago.
To not bring up any old and bad memories, Sienna stayed quiet and instead grabbed some soap.
"Let's wash your body before we get to your hair", She rubbed the soap onto a wet cloth and then started to slowly rub Zaya's arms.
The cloth stained brown after every rub and had to be rinsed and more soap applied. It was clear to Sienna that Zaya hadn't washed her body in a very long time.
Sienna washed Zaya's back and body next. "Zaya, can you stand up. I can wash your legs more easily that way."
Zaya stood up and as the water ran down her body and legs, the water turned brown in colour from the dirt on her legs.
Sienna wiped her legs with the cloth and then Zaya sat back down. "Okay, I'm going to do your hair now."
Sienna grabbed a bucket of water and poured some on Zaya head, to wet the hardened and dirty hair more.
She took some soap into her hands and then rubbed it softly into Zaya's hair. She then took a hairbrush and combed her hair.
This way she could get the dirt out the hair and straighten it without damaged or pulling her hair when washing it.
Once most of the dirt was out, she picked the bucket up, "Zaya close your eyes." Zaya closed her eyes as Sienna emptied the bucket over her head.
The rest of the dirt came out with the sudden gush of water. "That's better. Let's just wash it one more time to make sure everything is gone," said Sienna.
Sienna repeated the same process she had just done to Zaya's hair. "Okay, Zaya just get out the tub. I want to put some cleaner water so you can just soak."
Zaya obliged to Sienna's request and got out. Sienna then tipped out the water down a drain in the corner of the room.
Sienna lifted her wand to the empty tub and said, "Calda." Clean hot water filled the tub at speed, until she lowered her wand.
Zaya, still amazed by magic, let out a small gasp. Sienna turned to her and smiled, "You can get in now."
Zaya got in and felt the same warmth as the first time. She sunk her body in and for the first time relaxed in the warmth and comfort of the water.
"I'll let you soak her for a moment, while I get everything together that we'll need. Might as well clean your current clothes, so that you can wear something clean."
Zaya sat up and looked at Sienna with a big smile, "Thank you", she said. It was the first time that her ragged clothes would be cleaned.
Even when she had original found them, thrown out by someone, they were dirty. "You're welcome", Sienna said before leaving the room to clean the clothes.
Zaya lay back down in the tub. For the first time, she was clean and going to be wearing clean clothes.
Plus, she was about to go shopping for new clothes, that she thought she would be able to get in her life.
She thought about the possible life she could have now if she stayed with Sienna and learned magic. She could eat and live without fear of physical punishments from those closest to her
Zaya lay there, her body and heart relaxing and getting some forgotten peace. As she lay there, she thought to herself, 'I hope I can stay here forever.'
After about ten minutes, Sienna came back in to see Zaya lying peacefully in the tub. "Zaya, it's time to go. I cleaned out your clothes for you."
Zaya sat up and smiled. She climbed out the tub and walked over towards Sienna, who had a towel in her hand for Zaya to dry herself with.
Zaya dried off and Sienna handed her, her clothes. They no longer were brown and covered in dirt. It was still stained in some places but was much better than what she had had before.
Zaya's smile grew even bigger, "Thank you, I've never seen it so clean."
Sienna's heart ached at that statement, and she looked at Zaya with pity, that she hadn't grown up with such things beforehand.
"Don't worry about it. I'll get you even better things when we go to the village shop." Zaya smiled even more and put her clothes on.
Once Zaya was changed, Sienna said, "Let's go." She grabbed her bag that she had placed on the table, with money and her wand inside.
As they left the house, Zaya got to see the trees and flowers that surrounded them. She hadn't seen the outside of the house before as she was asleep when Sienna brought her.
The trees were full of green leaves, and the flowers and grass were beginning to show as the snow and ice melted from the hot sun above.
Zaya could smell the plants, hear the birds and other wildlife around them and was overwhelmed with joy and excitement.
She saw a dirt path that led away from the house. Sienna walked past her, "If we follow this path we'll get to the village. It is a bit of a walk, but I prefer to stay away from everyone, and this place is too beautiful to leave."
Zaya nodded her head in agreement, "You're right. This place is beautiful and if I was to live anywhere it would be here."
Sienna smiled, "Follow me." She reached her hand out to Zaya, who grabbed on and held tight. The two of them followed the path away from the house.
As they walked Zaya could see the endless fields that were on either side of the paths. On the one side was a forest the went towards Sienna's house and on the other was open land.
Zaya couldn't contain her smile as all she had known was a small house and she had to stay in the corner of it.
And in this life the previous soul had only known dark and decrepit alleyways. There was never so much light in either of their lives.
As Zaya looked around, she could see the village in the distance. "There it is", she said, fill of excitement.
"We won't be too long now", Sienna said, as the two of them continued their walk towards the village.
