Without dilly-dallying, Nyxara led Myles to her torture chamber. It was still within the city mansion, so Myles was unable to explore the city.
However, he already met a lot of other demons from other races.
Nyxara treated Myles as someone who completely lost his memories, so she informed him about the races Myles encountered and their purpose in the Velmoryss City.
He only met two races, which acted as housekeepers and guards in the city mansion.
He met one Velour Witch, who Nyxara said came from rare Greater Demon rank subspecies. Velour Witches is a race that already sworn loyalty to the Succubus houses, beginning from their ancestor who vowed to serve the Demon Queen and her lineage with her descendants.
The Velour Witch they encountered was at Rank 1 Common Demon and Myles wanted to charm her first.
However, Myles held himself back when he noticed that the Velour Witch didn't even glance at him and continued to clean precious objects in the city mansion.
Then, they encountered the guards, who stood at each door of the mansion.
He belonged to a race called Blood Knights. They had heavy horns and Nyxara said they were bred for absolute loyalty.
The race was created by the first Demon King of the Nhar'zorath kingdom, which shocked Myles.
He inquired how it was possible, but Nyxara was unable to provide information. She only said he would come to know about it once they became students in the Royal Academy.
Eventually, they reached the underground of the city mansion and Nyxara led Myles to a door, with a doorplate that said, "Torture Chamber."
When they entered, Myles swept his gaze around and was speechless.
It seems like I'm underestimating this world. It's really not that different from hell.
They entered inside and halted after Myles closed the door.
Nyxara turned around and grinned in delight when she saw Myles sweeping his gaze around despite having an indifferent expression.
She said, "This is my torture chamber."
She raised her hand and pointed at the main chair, the only chair in the room.
"That's called the Dominion Chair. It has rune-locked limb cuffs, spinal resonance plate that presses into the back and reacts to lies, fear, or resistance, crown-like halo restraint that prevents demonic arrts and suppresses willpower, and it slowly drains stamina, demonic energy, and mental resistance.
Hehe. It's not just for pain. It is for breaking authority and identity. That's why it is even effective against a Greater Demon."
Myles was speechless. He did not even dare to imagine being tortured in that chair.
Nyxara moved her finger and pointed at the tall crimson mirror at the right corner of the room.
She said, "That is the Mirror of Self-Betrayal. It shows the tortured committing acts they fear or regret. It rewrites their memories while they stare. It also used to fracture loyalty and identity. We use that to turn prisoners into obedient thralls."
She pointed at a hanging crystal-and-chain cocoon beside the mirror.
"That's the Veil Cage. The sound inside echoed endlessly. The time there feels distorted, minutes feel like days, hours feel like years. Thus, it induces hallucinations and paranoia."
She pointed to a rack of floating enchanted needles that hover and hum softly beside the Veil Cage.
She said, "That's the Choir of Needles. They never pierce deeply, but they instead simulate nerves and demonic energy channels. It causes overwhelming sensory overload and demonic energy destabilization. It is used to destroy concentration and demonic energy control."
Myles listened attentive and scrutinized each objects that were used for torture.
He saw Nyxara pointing at the demonic tome chained to a pedestal and heard her said:
"That's the Soul Ledger. It records spoken confession automatically. The lies burn the speaker, the tortured, internally. True statements weakened their spiritual defense. It's good for races that lack a physical body or have immunity to pain."
Myles nodded.
He continued to hear the remaining objects used for torture. When Nyxara was finished, Myles said, "I get it now. Other objects are designed for specific demon races."
Nyxara nodded. "Exactly. After all, demons have so many races that mix-breeding became possible. That's why a mix-breed like you isn't really surprising."
Her eyes widened. "Right. The incubus are noble, too. Their patriarch is also a Demon Lord. Once they know about you, you won't have an easy life in the Royal Academy."
Myles nodded and did not reply.
Nyxara grinned and said, "Alright. I'll give you this before I forget. Just inject your demonic energy to this blood-link stone."
Myles glanced at the palm-sized obsidian-red crystal in his hand. It has faint living runes that pulsed like a heartbeat.
He closed his eyes and tried to summon his demonic energy from his demonic core and he was surprised he had a difficult time even summoning a tiny bit of demonic energy.
Nyxara was surprised and chuckled. She taught him how to control and manipulate his demonic energy inside and until outside of his body for the next fifteen minutes.
Myles listened attentively and when he finally learned how to control his demonic energy, he immediately injected his demonic energy in the stone.
The stone warmed and dark veins of light crawl across its surface.
At the same time, Nyxara took out her blood-link stone and injected her demonic energy with it.
Nyxara spoke in the stone, saying, "Hello, hello."
The stone in Myles hand echoed with her voice and Nyxara stared at Myles, wanting to see his excited expression.
From what he knows, men are simple creatures. Invention like this should excite them.
However, Myles was disappointed, visible on his face.
He asked, "You do video calls? Only voice calls?"
Nyxara was speechless. She was unable to comprehend the words Myles uttered.
Myles gazed at her and realized she did not know what she meant.
He shook his head and said, "Forget what I'm saying. You can go now. I'll wait for the prisoners here."
Nyxara nodded. She left with a clear confusion painted on her face.
