Chapter 23 - Changing World

After eating, Axir and Siddha sparred without cards.

And as Axir expected, he lost.

"Yeah, it's a stretch to win against him, no matter how much of a genius you are," Ling smiled wryly.

"I do want to spar with cards, but that could be dangerous. We can spar with superpowers inside the game since we can revive there," Siddha smiled.

"Yep." Axir nodded. "Also, I would like someone to train Mio and teach her a bit. I want her to become proficient in combat and get her basics done in one year, since she'll enter the game eight months later when turning sixteen."

"Of course, only if you have free time."

Sakamoto laughed. "Some of us have all the free time in the world. We'll take turns teaching her."

"Thank you." Axir bowed.

"So what now?" James rubbed his chin. "Countries all over the world are in meetings for this phenomenon."

"Yeah, I wonder what they'll do," Robin blinked.

"Although they are in a meeting, each of them has already launched the full capabilities of their countries to handle the players," Maria said. "Applications and websites of the Player World Union will launch soon, according to the information I got. The USA launched its satellite surveillance and connected with all other countries for this. They'll be watching the players closely."

James nodded. "Each country will find its best players and will want to control them. This is a new race of domination, and this time, the one with the strongest players will rule."

"It will not work after some time." Axir shrugged. "At least, I am already immune to most dangers of human technology except for things like nuclear bombs. When players become stronger and guilds rise, the influence of countries will collapse."

"That's true." Siddha nodded. "But an organization on Earth must be formed to keep things in order. We have no lack of nasty fellows who will torture others for their own joy. They will do more damage as they get stronger, so we'll have to eliminate them. And only the strongest can do that."

Sakamoto rubbed his chin. "I can influence Japan a bit, but the USA won't be influenced, and it won't let Japan change the course they are planning for now."

"Let's go up and watch the news. Things are getting chaotic out there since most people have finished their twelve hours of gameplay and have returned," Ling said.

[ Host: Many people have earned silver and gold from the game. As they are real, the economy is already showing signs of shifting, with many people buying stuff and abandoning trade. ]

[ Guest: This mysterious game makes you stronger and gives you money. It's safe to say that people don't need to slave away for little money anymore. Big changes are coming, especially for the poor and people with low financial capacity. ]

[ Host: That's exactly right, haha. I managed to acquire a rather pretty necklace and had it evaluated here. Guess how much it's worth? ]

[ Guest: Hmm, if it's rare, it could be of high value. Let me throw a random guess. One million bucks? ]

[ Host: Not even close. It's worth thirteen million USD. ]

"Change channel."

[ Host: As you can see, a group of fifteen players formerly known as the Black Fang gang is emptying out a bank. The safe was destroyed by spinning metal spikes used by one of the gang members with a card. The police managed to shoot some of them, but they still escaped energetically despite the wounds. ]

"Normal guns will not work on a superhuman body." James smiled wryly. "At thirty, Constitution, common 9 mms won't do anything except pierce the skin slightly."

"They'll have to go around with rifles and also have player officers," Robin blinked. "We'll have to use our members for public safety in our areas. Are we going to do that, ma'am?"

Maria nodded. "Yeah, so we have to make sure our members become stronger faster than average in the game."

"I read about guilds since I unlocked the function. It will make things easier even on Earth." Axir smiled and stood up. "I'll take my leave now since I want to do something. I'll leave Mio and Aunt Kira in your care."

Currently, both of them were meditating and following the training schedule Siddha had given them.

"Where are you going?" Sakamoto asked curiously.

"Hmm… I want to tell you, but I'll keep it for later." Axir smiled ruefully.

"Who are you going to kill?" Siddha asked, his eyes piercing into Axir.

Axir blinked. 'How sharp is this old man?'

"Kill? Want revenge for something?" Robin's eyes glinted.

"Or perhaps a noble cause?" Siddha narrowed his eyes. "Is that what you think you're doing?"

"That's right." Axir nodded, his expression firm. "Mankind is weak, after all. And herd mentality is the biggest weapon an evil mind can utilize to cause large-scale destruction."

He had seen that happen in his past life. Over thirty thousand people, extremists of Lihaki, had gathered in Bangladesh.

Over twenty thousand were going to gather in New York as well. Tomorrow.

But they were not going to dance or sing by gathering.

They were going to unleash a massacre.

Killing every person they encountered in the name of their religion, Lihaki. Going on a suicide massacre.

Pre-regression, his Aunt Kira was caught up in one such mob activity that happened in Japan and died, leaving Mio and him alone just four days after the beta.

That was why he moved her and Mio here.

Because of this game, many people were saying this was God's plan and that now was the time to rise and rebel and other such things.

So the stupid sheep and goats who followed and believed extremists were used like tools to unleash destruction.

This one week of beta test was hellish in that sense, as many people died like that. It only stopped after a week when the beta ended, as people came to their senses. Such things didn't happen after that, but those who lost their lives in the first week were gone.

However, Axir was not going to let that happen again.

"I'll have to go now. Time is running out. Don't worry, this will be covered in the news since it will be kind of big." Axir smiled wryly and did a two-finger salute before turning around and jumping out of the balcony.

3-star card, Rocket Wings.

Fwooosh!
