Forbidden Area—God Fall Abyss.
"Haha, the great Divine Crimson Knight, Axir Grimspire, is finally on his knees, aye?"
Five people. Two women and three men in their mid-twenties faced a man who was of similar age.
"W-Why?" Axir's lips trembled, his eyes spiraling with confusion, despair, and rage.
To answer his question, a third woman arrived. Pristine, white-haired, and wearing a golden robe with phoenix orange patterns.
She stopped just one meter away from Axir, her eyes full of disdain as she looked at him coldly.
"Why did you betray me?!" Axir's bloodshot eyes glowered with fury. "I built everything! And I gave it to you because I loved you!"
Axir's throat cracked. "Why did you betray me, Selena?!"
Selena pointed her palm at him.
"Five years."
"From college first year when I became your girlfriend till now, I have never loved you even for one second. Everything I did was for myself, and you were my means. My ultimate tool. Our tool."
"You were brilliant, and I felt that you were my best bet when the game apocalypse descended. So I kept you with me. You grew stronger, and also made me and others stronger."
Her eyes were utterly cold, just like her smile. "But that ends now. I won't thank you."
A man arrived and stood beside her, his hands wrapping around her waist. He had green hair and a light brown skin tone.
"She was always mine, you dumbass."
Axir's eyes widened.
And then he laughed.
"She was always yours? And yet you sent her to me? Have you heard the moans she makes in bed? Green hair suits you!"
Selena's eyes coldly flickered.
"Yeah, and I killed your sister after ravaging her!" Jason said with a ridiculous grin.
"I was also with him!" Yuta sneered. "She cried and begged, but we didn't stop."
"Don't worry. We only kept her for two days and then killed her."
"YOU ANIMALS!" Axir's eyes trembled, turning completely red. He was drained of all power and energy and completely crippled. He had no Mana, so he couldn't use his cards. Moreover, he had transferred his best deck to Selena since he was planning to make another one.
But he still lunged towards those pieces of trash, rage filling his eyes completely.
Alas, Selena's palm unleashed a swirling orb that forcefully pushed Axir and flung him away into the Godfall Abyss, his rage-filled screams fading gradually.
One of the four forbidden areas in this World of Belkris, the server of Infinite Breaker Online, where all humans above the age of 16 could log in for 12 hours daily, physically arriving in this game-like world, which was also shared by players of another planet, with World of Belkris acting as a server 1 of some sort.
Axir began his journey in this game with his classmates five years ago, on January 30th, 2026, when the Infinite Breaker Online descended on Earth. It first started a one-week beta where people could log in for 12 hours daily. During the beta, the World of Belkris was not shared by players of another planet.
Nobody was forced to log in, but had a choice. However, after one week, everyone above 16 was forced to stay in the game for 12 hours daily.
This changed the entire world because people became stronger while progressing in the game.
Items could be brought out as well, so this game changed the whole dynamics of Earth, where the strong rose into hegemony, and countries collapsed. Nuclear threat was a deterrent for a while, but it was gone after just one year, as powerful guilds rose that ruled the new Earth.
And in this age, he, Axir Grimspire, rose to become one of the strongest!
He was the Sovereign of Crimson Sun, one of the ten Sovereigns who led Earth to victory in the first War of Worlds, where players of Earth and players of another planet had to invade each other for points.
He was celebrating yesterday with his girlfriend, who was never his, and just announced their wedding as he gifted her the most important item he won in the war, an Ultra Evolution Cube. He had acquired one before, and that was the reason he rose to this position of one of the ten Sovereigns, as this Cube could evolve a deck and give players the options to choose which evolved version of the deck they want.
If he took another, like the other Sovereigns, he would have risen even higher as the new age had opened up after the first War of Worlds.
But here he was, falling to his ultimate doom.
Godfall Abyss Cliff.
Even among the four forbidden areas in this world of Belkris, this was the most dangerous.
Because no one had ever come out alive after falling into this.
The other three zones were not fall zones like this. Strong ones could venture and exit.
But Godfall Abyss…it was said to be the ultimate unknown doom.
As Axir fell, he felt numb and dumb.
He felt utterly stupid.
Because how the fuck was he surrounded by these assholes and didn't notice a thing?
'I was too up in my head thinking I was doing everything good.'
'I was enjoying the fantasy too much…so much that I failed to notice I was sleeping with a snake and dancing with rats.'
Axir looked down at the utter darkness.
'I deserve thi-'
Smack!
He hit his head into a protruding stone, and then flung away while falling, hitting another.
He hit more rocks as his right leg also split before he somehow arrived in the center as the free fall continued.
After an unknown amount of time, a thud rang at the deepest part of this zone.
[ World Announcement! Tragic news for the players of Earth! Divine Crimson Knight, Axir Grimspire, is dead forever! ]
The chats between players flooded while plazas of towns filled with uproar.
"What the hell?!"
"Don't tell, he died in a forbidden zone?! Fuck!"
"So far, the forbidden zones and War Events are the only places where players die permanently."
The players from different worlds sneered in delight and celebrated.
One less troublesome fellow for them.
The players from Earth mourned, and many cried.
But then, the world paused.
Space and time froze.
In the depths of the Godfall Abyss, Axir's dead body lay next to a beautiful, glowing flower. It was glowing cyan with purple and gold patterns.
Strange gray and silver sparks spewed out from it and transformed into butterflies. Strange butterflies, as they had eyes on their wings.
They were watching him.
Axir was also watching himself.
'Am I in my soul form? What the hell?'
Axir was shocked. He was dead, and he was looking at his dead body, but…he was alive.
'So I am not dead? But I just heard the announcement.'
Suddenly, a notification rang in his mind…or his soul. It felt no different to him as it rang as usual.
[ Congratulations. You have met the requirement and thus triggered an Ultra Unique Event, Abyss of Desire. ]
Axis looked at the flower.
[ State your desire, and it shall be fulfilled. ]
'W-What…'
Axir was stunned.
But he was now completely devoid of any negativity!
This…this was a chance!
A grin stretched across his soul form's face.
"There's only one desire one can have right now, in this situation."
"Reverse the time! Send me back! Right before the one-week beta starts!"
[ Granted. This Ultra Unique Event will not be triggered again in the World of Belkris. ]
