Mumbai, Juhu – Krishna Villa
Krishna and Manoj were reading the 3 Idiots script that Rajkumar Hirani had selected for Krishna's next movie. The script was written by Rajkumar Hirani, famous for his sharp comedy and emotional storytelling. As they read, both of them laughed many times at the funny scenes.
"I really like this story, Krishna," Manoj said.
"It's a complete masterpiece. You made the right choice for your next film."
"Yes, of course," Krishna replied with a smile.
"This will be my next project, and I'll produce it myself. Don't worry about the money—I truly love this story."
In his previous life, Krishna had watched 3 Idiots many times. Now, he was going to play the lead role himself. The thought made him excited.
Short Summary
The film follows the journey of three engineering students at the prestigious Imperial College of Engineering (ICE):
Rancho, a free thinker who believes in learning for knowledge, not marks
Farhan, who studies engineering to please his father despite his passion for wildlife photography
Raju, who struggles under the burden of his family's extreme poverty
Conflict:
Rancho frequently clashes with the strict college director, Dr. Viru Sahastrabuddhe, who believes only in competition and rote learning.
Narrative Structure:
The story moves through two timelines. In the present, Farhan and Raju travel across India to find Rancho, who mysteriously disappeared after graduation.
Resolution:
Years later, they discover that Rancho is actually Phunsukh Wangdu—a world-renowned scientist living peacefully in Ladakh, teaching students and living life on his own terms.
Director: Rajkumar Hirani
After completing all preparations, Krishna and Rajkumar Hirani began finalizing the cast. Krishna decided to keep the original cast and did not want to replace anyone. Once casting was complete, the movie entered the shooting stage.
During discussions, Rajkumar Hirani said,
"Krishna, for the foreign student characters, whom should we choose?"
Krishna replied,
"Let's take foreign actors who don't know Hindi well. It will feel more realistic."
Rajkumar Hirani smiled.
"Yes, Krishna, that's a brilliant idea."
During shooting, many scenes reminded Krishna of moments from 3 Idiots in his previous life. Rajkumar Hirani would often share memories, and they laughed together many times—especially while discussing the most important character scenes.
As shooting progressed, Kareena often spoke with Krishna about personal life topics, enjoying every moment on set. Krishna sometimes felt helpless dealing with her friendly nature—but he chose to ignore it.
The shoot went smoothly.
The famous "Chatur speech" scene was shot next. After the scene ended, the entire crew burst into laughter. Even the actor playing Chatur was confused at first, then laughed along with everyone.
As the story moved forward, the film balanced comedy, seriousness, and emotion perfectly. The baby delivery scene felt extremely real and emotional.
Last Scene of 3 Idiots
Kareena arrived on a scooter wearing her wedding dress and kissed Krishna directly.
"Cut!"
Both Krishna and Kareena felt embarrassed as the shot ended.
After shooting wrapped up, Rajkumar Hirani began post-production work, with Krishna actively helping him.
Rajkumar Hirani asked,
"Krishna, how did you feel about the movie?"
Krishna replied confidently,
"Sir, every scene is a masterpiece. But I want this film to release in more than just Hindi."
Rajkumar Hirani was shocked.
"You want a multi-language release? Are you sure, Krishna? That's a big step."
"Yes, sir," Krishna said.
"I want this movie to release at a pan-India level. 3 Idiots has that potential."
Krishna knew the film would break box-office records.
After poster production, Krishna arranged dubbing in four South Indian languages—Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Once dubbing was complete, Krishna and Rajkumar Hirani started promotions.
Media Reactions
Reporters asked:
"Krishna's new movie with Rajkumar Hirani is releasing as a pan-India film. Does this movie really have that much potential?"
"Does Krishna want to become a pan-India star?"
"Let's see whether 3 Idiots succeeds—or whether Krishna himself becomes an idiot by releasing it in five languages."
Many Bollywood celebrities commented.
Karan Johar said,
"Krishna is a good actor, but releasing in five languages is just a dream. The story alone may not justify it."
Ranbir added,
"Let's wait and see the film first."
Krishna Villa
Krishna and Manoj discussed the situation.
"Krishna," Manoj said seriously,
"Big production houses are giving us very few screens because we didn't share profits with them. Some celebrities are speaking badly about the film. What if things go wrong?"
Krishna remained calm.
"The entire cinema industry is not controlled by two production houses, Manoj. Increase the screen count in South India."
"Okay, Krishna," Manoj replied.
Krishna's eyes were full of confidence.
